Mattress: Thanks all for the sugestions. I considered the sleep number bed and the mmory foam, but I found one I liked for  much less money. I am willing to plunk down ridiculous amounts for shoes, but not for really important things like mattresses (or cars). I am practical in some ways, not in others. The sleep number sounds like a great option for those who are paired up, but I am without Lion so I shopped for myself. I got an excellent mattress on clearance - it is arriving on Saturday. Very soft at the top but firm underneath. Body aches all over in the meantime, and heat pads and pain killer cream only touch the surface.

Scary crazy windy rainy weather here - a tree is down on a house a couple of suburbs away from us. We have a huge gum tree in the back yard - hope it stays upright

Hope your storm moves on fast and leaves without making any problems for you and your neighbors Suzie.  I very much dislike the wind......we have many trees round us here....and one very small lane to get in and out of our little woods.

I think I'm at the end of SEs from AC #3. They hit on day 3 this time instead of the usual day 6, but held on until the end. The chemo fog (complete with feeling faint) lasted 4 days this time. I've heard others say #3 was the hardest. I'm hoping that's true.



Lewing~I hope you're right about the final one, whether because its such a relief to be done or because its just easier. I'll be so glad when its over. I think the steroids are the hardest on me.



My DH went to the interview for xerox on Tuesday. They had called 3 times last week to verify his appt. When he got there, they told him they had filled all their positions, so he didn't get an interview. It was at Abacus staffing, but he was meeting with a rep from xerox.

On Thursday Abacus ran an ad that they had 500 forklift positions in various locations. So he called them and explained that they already have his application and resume on file, and did they have a position for him. They told him, they run those ads just to get people to come in to apply. They had NO forklift jobs.

He filled out an app. today at Zulily. They had open house. They sell women's, infants, and children's clothes online.



I've been reading all the posts everyday. I haven't posted because you were all having such an upbeat week celebrating the inauguration, and I didn't want to rain on your parade. I wanted to be respectful, even though we disagree.

Linda, loved the movie Lincoln.  Daniel Day Lewis is tops on my list.  Love his acting and his philosophy.  Another great movie is "The Life of Pi".  Excellent and breathtakingly beautiful movie to watch.  Highly recommended by moi!

I'm under the couch until my pain subsides somewhat.

Paula, although I had the FEC/taxol regime, I do remember the third on being the worst for the nausea and dizziness. Remember to retreat to your nest as often as you can.

Paula, glad the AC effects seem to be lifting; so sorry about your husband's continued job struggles.  That's just wrong, to advertise positions that don't exist. 

Blue - for some reason, "Life of Pi" just doesn't appeal to me.  Same with "Silver Linings Playbook," which friends have raved about but I have no desire to go see.  What did you like about "Life of Pi"?  I'm prepared to be talked into it!

Paula...glad to hear from you....we all had "thoughts" for your well-being so good you are through pretty much for this time.  I hope you do find # 4 easier to do.  I can't recall how mine was.  I did 4 Taxotere right after my four A/C's and the first Taxotere gave me an overnight stay in the hospital from a HUGE case of esophageal thrush -- felt like the ending of A/C meshed with the beginning of the esophageal problem...so was never real clear at the point.  Still...through all 8 txs. I never had so much as a sniffle or hint of a cold....and was mid-winter. 

I can see why they do it, but I too feel one should not so strongly "encourage" those looking for work to apply for jobs that are not in existence.  My feeling is it would be GREAT chance if a position were filled that way.....as obviously anyone wanting to work will continue actively looking. Hoping something turns up soon.

I haven't seen the movie Life of Pi and did read the book. It's hard to imagine how it could become a movie but I might watch it anyway because the book was written by someone who attended the same university as I did (albeit much later).

Its about an East Indian boy who embraces 3 religions, loses his family at sea, and is shipwrecked with a Bengal Tiger.  The cinematography is magical!

Wow !!! That sounds like a movie I would REALLY enjoy. 

Very odd weather today....warm with some rain....like 60's warm, and then again tomorrow.  Then a short time after we plunge back to the 30's.  Really dislike that.  I think it is what encourages illness with many.  I don't mind the seasons as long as they don't commingle so much with each other.

Have to 'fess up.  The little doggy I'm holding in the picture is not a Fox terrier but a Toy Rat terrier.  I worked hard to remember her name...knowing that it would help me remember what sort of dog she was.....and didn't remember until last night.  Would not have been my choice....but her name is Ratley.  SIGH !!

Tell your DH not to despair. After more than a year of looking for a job, my DD#2 finally found her dream job, her words, two weeks ago! She is over the moon!

Susie, hope your weather clears up soon. Here in KS we frequently have tree damage from tornadoes and straight line winds. Have fun on the trip!

Hi Guys,

Geez ... I am in so much pain today from shoveling ice yesterday.  I didn't get too much done either.  I did manage to get a path from the back door down to my truck.  The rest of the driveway going out to the street looks like an ice skating rink.  Tim came home this morning and tried to shovel ... once ... then declared it was impossible.  Duh.

Blue .. I'm sorry to hear you are in such pain.  Frozen shoulder really hurts.  My left arm is so bad today too ... good thing I've got some pain meds around here.

Jackie .. Love your avatar and the picture of the little doggie ... you look great in the picture!

Yorkie .. Glad your daughter found a job she loves.  I've about given up doing something other than transcription.  I can't even get an interview!  I used to work in H/R and have been looking for something in that area again.  I don't think it's going to happen and all my marketing for more transcription work only turned up one new client.

Paula .. Hope you're feeling better.  That totally sucks about the job your husband applied for.  It's just not right to advertise for a job that does not exist!

Time to take a pill and chill out.

Paula - Only one more AC....just one more.  This does make it easier, imo, knowing it's the last one.  I think Lewing is totally right...the brain overrides the SEs on tx #4.   In my chemo group, most had a harder time with AC than Taxol (are you having weekly or dose dense Taxol?).  I was in the minority on everything and found Taxol harder (with a totally different set of symptoms).  Hopefully you will be like most and the hardest is behind you as of NOW.

One of my friends got to watch Playbook Silver Linings with an Academy member (shhh) with an early copy - loved it.  Well, I guess it might be out by now....  I've never seen Bradley Cooper in anything, but I saw him interviewed and appreciated his real life personhood.  Who doesn't like Katniss?

The rain has almost gone but we have strong winds - scary stuff - the tree is still standing. I won't be able to go riding anytime soon - our bike track by the creek is flooded. Lucky we live on a hill.

This wind is really scary but I love the rain - they say it's an ex cyclone - not in my opinion. At least it's cooler, but once it passes and the sun comes out it will be really humid again.
