Kam, I saw that on the news yesterday. I can definitely see why people were confused. Thank goodness somebody didn't pull out a concealed weapon and shoot the dog!

Ah, but we can protect that dog if we allow the owner to0 carry a bazooka....that way no one will dare come near him....(wicked laugh)

New York may vote on a gun law soon:

ALBANY — Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo and legislative leaders, nearing a deal on a broad package of changes to the state’s gun laws that would expand the state’s ban on assault weapons, were hoping to vote as soon as Monday on legislation prompted by last month’s mass shooting of a group of first graders in Newtown, Conn.

A vote early this week would make New York the first state to act in response to the shooting, and comes as President Obama on Monday reiterated his desire for a federal assault weapons ban. Monday was the first full day of this year’s legislative session in Albany, and freshmen lawmakers were still settling into their new offices as leaders readied a tentative deal to present to them in the afternoon.

Andrew Cuomo is awesome! I like him as much as I did Eliot Spitzer, BEFORE his little problem was exposed. Anyway, Cuomo is definitely on my short list of favorite future Democratic presidential contenders.

Poor Elliot.  He got too close to cleaning up the banks.  That did him in.  Now the banks are back.  He was one of the good guys.

He was definitely entrapped, like Bill Clinton. But when one is in politics, that is to be expected. I wish the good guys could figure out how to control their "baser instincts" and use that energy to fight for We the People.

Only thing with Elliot - couldn't he have found a hooker for a little less money?  Honestly, I think it was the price tag that did him in.

I agree. That bit about prostitution was nothing other than revenge by the banks, who took advantage of the American media's antiquated Puritanism and warped sense of morality to get back at him. Spitzer was a hubristic narcissist who made enemies, that's all. The good he did for the public via his job as prosecutor is surely far more valuable. I will call it Anglo-Saxon Puritanism, in the way the French refer to the term today. Only in Britain and the US does a politician have to resign over sex but a robber baron gets to stay after stealing from the public, and draft dodgers and prevaricators get to stay on as president and vice president despite instituting torture.

I still shake my head at these so-called sex scandals and the spurious arguments made to act on them. "But he lied....." "but it's illegal....." Yes, and yes. But federal funds and personnel are not infinite. They are best used going after large-scale criminals, not somebody's whipping boy.

Maybe we need to learn to accept it like the Republicans do in their party Cool  Well, they accept their own, if not ours.

Vermont was beautiful.  Disconcertingly warm for this time of year, but there was still snow, and it was white and silent.

Only stayed a day and a half.  The trip was a reward for DD2, who got a 4.0 last semester and wanted to ski.  Well, first day out, she hurt her knees, and then she missed her boyfriend.  I had a couple things to do late morning on Saturday, but decided it would be less painful to then drive back than to listen to a lovesick 20 year old for another day and a half.

Cuomo could get my vote as well.  Interesting that some of the upper state people are not so happy with some of the proposals....think it is too stringent.  I'm thinking, when so many have been affected by this.......I think a total ban should be in order.  Those who still would like to "shoot" these guns ( how fun ) could go to stricly controlled shooting ranges.  Of course as a woman, and not much of a gun enthsiast anyway, making it tougher would absolutely make no impact on me so I probably shouldn't even say anything.

Beautiful picture of the white lion and lioness, babies too.  A beautiful group.

Here! Laying low fighting an infection in the radiated field, worrying about DD's mystery ailment, and hoping to rent a horse farm so I can live next door to my horsey boy. And a crown is about to fall out of my mouth. Damn you, Medicare!

Hey, they got glue at Walgreens for that!

Seriously, E I have had bridges and a crown at one time or another come loose. Temp dental glue can put it back in. Just make sure the tooth is rinsed and clean. Don't want to glue a food particle in there.

I don't think any temporary dental glue can overcome a Medicare-cursed crown.

Waving at Athena!  I is here too.  Hubby had to use that cursed Medicare to get surgery for his sinus problem last week.  It made him grumpy.  And probably because we let Medicare into our lives, the dogs have erupted into giant shedding machines and I've either been brushing or vacuuming ever since.  Or at least it seems like it.

E ... hope you get uninfected, get your farm, get daughter all fixed up and get re-crowned.  And then maybe have some nice, gentle boredom for awhile!

    Linda .... awwww

Now I need to go catch up on back pages.

I'm here, too! Head down, slogging through January and counting the days until June 1. Hoping with sincere and meaningful hope that I don't get the flu that my secretary called in with, since I am determined to save my sick leave to add two more months to my service time. I have a little cushion, but not a flu's worth -- since I am asthmatic, for me the flu is the stage production of "Ben Hur," complete with chariot races.

And happily trolling Facebook reminding people of the definition of sedition. :-D

HL - good luck with the anti-sedition trolling, though I suspect those whom it's aimed at, won't stop.  Hope you stay flu free.

E - get better and happy tooth gluing.

WR - good wishes for DH's recovery from grumpimess and less shedding.

Frozen shoulder here.  Busy weekend and dealing with The Mother of all Sucky Dogs....Lilah!

Half the Christmas tree is down (literally, the bottom half needs to be brought down to the basement) and Wendel was a great hit with the Vet.  She took a pic of him, she thought he was so cute.  How's that for random ramblings.

I'm going under the couch until my shoulder feels a bit better.  Acupuncture tonight!
