Christmas will just be us and my Mother - sigh. I was up early and made the potato salad. We have ham and turkey (cold) and I will also make a special salad with mango, avocado, walnuts and bacon bits on a bed of lettuce. It has a yummy dressing of oil, cream and mustard. I might throw in some tiny tomatoes this time. I also got cheeses, pate, salami and olives to have on a platter before or after. Pudding and custard for dessert. And we have nuts you crack and lollies and choc chip short bread and Xmas cake - eek we'll get even fatter.
Got to go out and hopefully find the lettuces I want - red oak. Also overdue for a visit to the pool shop to get the water tested.

Reading late.....Wendell is totally adorable.
W.LaPierre is totally nuts.
Now is absolutely the right time to deal with these issues. It is not just about CT. It is also about all the others when something should have been done and wasn't. Sadly, let a little time go by and things can end up much farther than the back burner. If there is ever going to be a time.....it needs to be now -- unless we want to keep shaking hands with LaPierre and others of his ilk.

Since I got my Vitamix 3 weeks ago, I've been drawn into the Twilight Zone....I've gone from organic smoothies, to green smoothies, to raw Vegan, (almost). For xmas I'm making a vegan chocolate cream pie with coconut whipped cream. I'm finding this new diet very expensive, including all of the kale I'm eating! Xmas with friends - all organic, one Vegan. Pho is the main course.
My neighbor found a guy with a backhoe and he's going to come dig me out - $20, soon. Pip - you describe being without power perfectly!
GG - Xmas in Hawaii....how lovely! Since Obama is in Honolulu, lots of news people reporting from there....Diamond Head looks gorgeous at this exact moment. Did you have Implants before DIEP? Did the muscles shrink back after implants removed?
Anymore Wendell Fossil news??
-
Oh ya.......he thinks he's superman. Took a flying leap off the couch earlier. Scared the Dickens out of me, but he's OK!
Ray told him he needs to start flappng those ears if he wants to try that again.
-
Is Wendell bigger or smaller than a cat?
-
He's about 1-1/2 lbs. if that.
-
Kam - I think I'd rather be hot than snowed in - hope you get rescued soon.
Got my lettuces, did the pool shop trip - now dosing the pool up with shock treatments and acid.
Blue - glad the little fella is settling in - he's so cute.
-
On the gun thing - I am amazed to read on FB my brother has had his 16 year old daughter trained to use a weapon. What sort of society is it that you have to take your kids to the shooting range!!! That sort of thing would be unheard of in this country.
-
1.5 lbs! What are his dimensions??!!!
Suzie...I agree...hot is better! Finally am shoveled out...little bobcat got me out. Atleast I have someone for the next time.
I'm afraid this Newtown event may split this country even further....now we'll have this contigent that wants guns everywhere. I hear the sales of assault weapons have gone through the roof.
-
He's tiny.
Lilah is 4.5 lbs and as you can see he's a lot smaller. Ray will kill me if he knows I posted this pic. Comfy clothes on a Sunday morning, hehehehe!

-
Blue: what a great picture of your family!! All three look adorable.
-
Ray is cute

-
He is sooo tiny! I didn't realize just how small he was.
-
Changing his name to Wee Wendel the Wonder Dog!
About the run on assault weapons: People are buying them up in fear that they'll be banned. But......if they are banned, then what happens to all those guns so hastily purchased? Reminds me of folks like the survivalists who stock up on food, water, guns etc., and build bomb shelters in the event of nuclear war. My question is: why would anyone want to keep existing in a wasteland devastated and destroyed by whatever? Do they even think that far ahead? Do they want to spend the next 20+ years living in complete isolation? Do they want to live in a such a state where fear of everyone else is their overriding emotion?
Enough doom and gloom: Happy Christmas Eve eve, everyone!
-
Merry Christmas girls!!! Hope you all have a lovely Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.
-
Happy Christmas Eve, everyone! I can hear Christmas music in my mind's ears. I love that NPR said "Christmas Eve" to announce the day.
While we wait for Kam to be snowed out, I hope that vague forecasts of something resembling "flurries" comes true for today in DC.

Blue - what Suzie said about Ray! :-)

Before I start my busy day....

And remember, Jesus sings this song through Dionne....

Off to the mountains for some snowshoeing and together time. A quiet Christmas for us, just what we need. I probably won't check in for a few days, so everyone have a Merry Happy few days, eat your brussle sprouts and then lots of chocolate and red wine, and I'll see you on the flip side!!
-
Wishing everyone a wonderful holiday season!

Anticipating having a fantastic time with family.....that is all I need and want. Big sigh over all the gun/no guns issues. I say envision a world where ordinary citizens do not have to have assault, high powered anything ( unless snow blowers and vacuums or something like that ) and then LET IT HAPPEN. I have the right to live lovingly and peacefully in this world as does everyone else and if we could just start from that premise......I think reasonable solutions could be found to most anything.
BTW....I'm giving myself permission to totally pig out for the next couple of days and then get back to being serious about soul, mind and body.
Wishing you all the very, very best. Hugs to the wee whippersnapper Wendel, and to all the furry people who make our houses a home. Love,
Jackie
