Thanks covert. I agree about the sludge. ICK!

I just got on myself. Medigal, I look at things differently. I try not to get upset. I do get disappointed, but I'm a clown at heart and tend to laugh things off. My skin is pretty thick in that regard. I've been through the loss of a baby girl during the birth process (her umbilical cord was wrapped around her neck), a wicked divorce, Parkinson's Disease (which will be with me for the rest of my life), breast cancer and thyroid cancer. You think a few words on a forum are going to upset me? Ummmmmmm No! I just think that some have nothing better to do or are so full of fear that that is the only way they can deal with it. I am a happy camper. I live in a beautiful house, have someone who loves me, and I have my two pooches in my immediate life. I also have 3 children that I adore and would do anything for me, and a beautiful grandson. Life is great! And two months ago, I couldn't get this many words on a post.
Barbara, I'm so glad your brother is doing better. What a relief.
-
Yay Blue .. so glad you're feeling better! I can tell in your note .. and it was a long one too!
I'm kind've sensitive, so it's best I stay away from other sites. But I'm working on getting a thicker skin.
Well .. we're off to the dump today. I need to get more entertainment in my life. Although last weekend, my sis and her husband treated us to see Ron White. OMG .. he used to be so much funnier .. now his whole show is on blow jobs. After the first five minutes, it just wasn't that funny any more.

Happy dumping Bren!
-
Blue - forgot to congratulate you on your solitary shower.
Sandy
-
Blue, I think every glass, for you, is at least half-full!
Barbara, so happy to hear bro is on the mend!
Bren, you're making me sing "Ta Da Dump, Ta Da Dump, Ta Da Dump Dump Dump!" Hiyo, Silver, away!
Happy Sunday, everyone! The sun is shining in these parts, the thermometer registers +6 (Celcius) instead of last week's -6, the icicles are melting and our usual short January thaw has finally shown up a month late! Of course, this won't mean much to you all who live in southern climes! Enjoy your day, wherever you are!
-
The sun is out, the air is clear and the temperature is well above freezing. We may have Spring just around the corner. Today, I'm going to put the deer proof out so the little Bambi won't eat the new growth of our newly planted apple trees. This thread appears to be troll free and life is good.
Barbara,
Your brother is one tough guy. I hope he continues to do well and has the tubes out soon. I know this has been very hard on you so take care and get some rest and sunshine.
-
Linda - Some of us who live in "southern climes" are also waiting for the thaw! Looks like it may be today. The sun is out for the third day in a row and the temps will finally get about 32 today. Keep your fingers crossed that we've seen the last of this winter from hell. There's only about a 2' X 4' patch of snow left on my deck. Can anyone tell my why my 4 lb. dog insists on perching on that patch of snow to do her business?
-
Whewww!!!! Just got caught up. Lots of drama this weekend.
Blue - congratulations on your solo shower and your long post. I hope you enjoy your renewed independance.
Barbara - I am glad your brother is progressing so well. I hope he can get off the ventilator soon.
Hope everybody has a wonderful Sunday.
-
Blue, I lurked in October of last year and when you made the jump to the new thread, I clicked on your link and finally jumped in.
I have seen your progress if only on the keyboard and lady, you've come a long way. I was also amazed with the concern, worry, love and prayers on this thread when you were facing surgery and recovery. I also saw the happiness and relief when Bren or someone would post word of your progress. Then there was a post from you (only a few words) and this place lit up like a Christmas tree. That's the reason I stay. There are a lot of good apples here. I don't think your skin is so thick, you inspire others too easily for that. I think you have the heart of a lion and have the ability to inspire loyalty. Not too bad for a cougar! (your words, not mine, I'd just say HOT!!! mama)
-
Alpal,
It looks like a rug. edited to add: or maybe he/she is just stating an opinion on the weather.
-
Thank you kadeeb. Linda, yes the glass is always half full. I forgot to mention that I have made some wonderful friendships on this board which I treasure.
-
kadeeb, LOL! Hey, how are you liking this weekend we're having? Blue sky, high in the 60's? (Or maybe not quite that good where you are...). The daffodils were up last week already, with big, fat buds, but they've held short of blooming. Now I'm afraid they'll open this week and then the temp will plummet. The weather guy does keep saying, "Remember -- it's only February. (Such a pessimist.)
Bren, have fun at the dump. My dad was a "dump picker" in his younger days, back when the city dump was this huge expanse (acres and acres) of garbage and you drove right in there to add your contribution. There was a separate area where people put furniture, old appliances, etc. -- things that couldn't be rolled over easily with a bulldozer. There was no telling what he would bring home when he went to town on a "dump run." Now I watch "American Pickers" on the History Channel and I think of my dad. (I also think of him when I watch "Hoarding"....)
Hi to everybody!
otter
[Edited to add: Almost forgot! We were watching a documentary last night about changes in social attitudes toward sexuality [or something like that]; and they mentioned the time Jim Morrison was arrested at a concert in FL for indecent exposure: http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/jim-morrison-s-indecency-arrest-rolling-stone-s-original-coverage-20101210. Those were wild times, yes?]
-
Looks like it is a good morning! Long post from blue. Barbara's brother is doing better. Weather warming up. And Bren gets to go to the dump
I love American Pickers ... and the Pawn Shop guys. Seems like there is another one but I can't think what it is right now. It may be sad to say but those kind of shows are about the best things on TV anymore.
-
Otter times sure were different. In December, the Governor of Florida pardoned him. I think he was on someone's hit list because no one actally saw him expose himself.
Guess Who?
-
Just have to say something quick! We met Mike Wolfe from American Pickers in Dec! What a sweetie. LeClaire is the home of some dear friends of ours who we babysat for and we wandered in. We got autographed pictures. Their headquarters is about an hour from Dubuque, IA where we live-
-
Yay for everybody's good news!
Wow, what is it with weekends around here?! I hate to take this back to unpleasant matters, but I'm kind of confused. You mean that people can not only delete but also ban others here, basically just because they don't agree with them? I sure hope the moderators change that. I hope that lewing is reinstated quickly. I didn't see anything wrong with her post.
Oh and for those wanting to know about the other site - you really don't want to know. I ran across that site long before I registered here and it's part of the reason that I lurked here so long.
-
Otter, I don't care what the weather man says, it's 60 and spring has sprung (for now) !
Blue, just stating the obvious, mam!
Rabbit, loved your summary. Laughed out loud for sure!
RiverR - I'm not an expert of any kind on this but I think if you get a certain number of reports you are placed on restriction( probation sort of) then if it continues, a temporary ban, then if it continues, a for ever ban. Not really sure how one gets from one stage to the other.
edited to add, Hope I don't find out first hand!
-
Kadeeb - I bet your rug theory is exactly right. She's probably thinking - "Hmm, pooped on the rug and Mom didn't say a word." In the last 30 mins. the rug is gone - yea for sunshine and warm temps.
-
The website is programmed so that if 5 people hit the Report This Post button the post is deleted. If 5 of your posts are deleted you are temporarily banned. So what happens is that if someone doesn't like what you post they call in their troops. 5 of them hit 5 of your posts and Poof, you're gone.

Hello
Just got home from Church, had some lunch and decided to see what's going on. Barbara, I'm so glad your brother continues to improve and I willl keep him in my prayers.
I too feel the need for a shower after I stick my toe in the sludge.
I enjoy a respectful heated political discusscion but try to be civil.
I ca'nt see how someone can get joy from meanness to a breast cancer sister but as we know. people are strange.
Things do seem to have calmed down so maybe we just had some Friday night crankiness going on. Who knows? I will never understand why people do the things they do. My theories are probably not printable here.
-
Back from visiting bro and they pulled the ventilator. He has an oxygen mask on but needs to keep coughing up the gunk so he still can't talk. But things are looking better and better.
Off to see DH's band!
-
Rosemary, your theories are printable here it's just that the delete police will get cha!
It's going to be interesting when we get on another hot topic and opinions begin to fly. I've noticed the absence of several frequent posters lately. Maybe our recent topics are too mundane for some. I've just been waiting for someone to shoot in and upset the apple cart. Never fear lurkers, it's only a matter of time. The entertainment is not over. This is just a commercial break.
-
Yayyyyyyy! Barbara's brother!
Sandy
-
Great news Barbara!
Well .. the dump wasn't that much fun. Our truck broke. It's an old ('92) Ford and very reliable, except the steering shaft thingy broke in two. So now we're waiting on the tow truck man to come get it. At least it happened when Tim was home with the car, and I wasn't at the store by myself. This stinks.
Kadeeb .. you're funny .. we're on a commercial break. I bet if I go searching through the news blogs I can find us a good topic! I do have one, but I can't talk about it until March 1st.

4-star general, 5-star grace. I thought this article was appropriate for our thread.
(CNN) -- Graciousness can pay priceless dividends.
And it doesn't cost a thing.
The rest of us may never reach the exalted status of those three men. But kindness knows no social stratum. Every day, we're given the choice. Consideration? It's free of charge. It can echo forever.
Graciouness and consideration for others .. what a wonderful concept.
-
Bren,
OMG what could it be? I don't have any idea what you're talking about. I bet everyone on the thread is waiting and wondering what "that" topic could be. (there's more than one comedian on this thread).
-
Kadeeb and SeaFoobs thanks for the explanation. Well I sure hope there's a work-a-round in place for if deletions aren't merited.
Bren, sorry about your truck. It's such a pain when transportation is out of commission. -
Thanks River .. like I said, just lucky it happened when Tim was home with the car! Can't really complain about the old truck though, it still looks great and runs good. But with 160,000 miles, things are starting to happen to it.
Kadeeb .. I took a vow of silence until March 1st. In fact, it seems most of the media has too.

I like this thread because we don't refer to the president as "Barry" and his wife as "Moo-moo". It seems way more civilized over here.
I, too, felt the need for a cleansing after visiting the other site. As someone mentioned earlier-it's like the mean girls in middle school over there. Since I work with middle school age students, I get enough of that at work.
