Thanks Bubba ... you are right. The nioxin is a shampoo/conditioner not an oral medication. I don't  know if it is worth it or not but since I have so little hair, one bottle lasts a long time. ;-) Oh and I am putting minoxidil on my head too! I started that a few months ago.  Yes, I did TCx6 DD and finished in May.  It was a full 8-10 weeks before I got even the 5 o'clock shadow. I am doing everything faithfully but who knows if it is really working or not. It sure is taking a long time.

I'm getting the with haired chia pet thing happening on my head and face. I'm only 2.5 weeks out from my last THC (more H to come). This seems a bit early. I know this type of hair usually comes first then falls out, correct?

Last TCH in November.  I have close to an inch of hair (really thick).  Went out last week to grocery store etc, commando and it really helped me forget I had BC without a hat or scarf.  Went back to work today;  no hat, scarf, or wig.  It actually feel liberating.  Most of the students were glad to see me and didn't even comment on my hair.  The staff said it looked good. I'm glad I got the unveiling over with.  Eyebrows started reappearing last week and of course the lovely chin hair.  No eyelashes yet.  libraylil

I had 3 Taxotere treatments ,,,,im now almost 3 months out of chemo and my hair is growing quickly. I used to have blond, thick , wavy hair. Now its growing in dark and straight  LOL  i had lost all my eyelashes on the the right eye, which are now growing back as well. The only thing that looks bad now are my finger nails.. they are brown, have dark stripes across them and now the end are turning white and slowly falling off. I had during my chemo treatments long , hard fingernails,.were wonderful. Now they're short and horrible. My fingers are still numb as well as my feet. Its amazing what Taxotere does to your body..your nervous system.

Mine came in from the bottom up. It seems to be growing much faster now but it is still thinner on the top, but at least it's hair.  NJ

Still bald but also started to loose my eyebrows about 6 months ago and now they are mostly gone. Find it almost impossible to function.

    Hi Melania,

My hair fell out after my first TC chemo treatment but started growing back between my second and third treatment.  I have small fuzz all over my head.  I was using a Norelco electric shaver to cut the hair down but recently decided to just let it grow.  I found the new hair growth between treatments to be unusual so I asked my Chemo Oncologist about this.  He said some folks hair does start growing back right away but, that by my fourth treatment not to be surprised if it falls out again.  I've been assured by most women I've spoken to that have gone through BC that the hair will indeed grow back.

Has anyone found anything that has helped grow your hair back after taxotere?

I was diagnosed with Stage 2, triple negative breast cancer in Jan. 2009, and completed 8 rounds of chemotherapy including taxotere. I have the problem that some of my hair came back; however, it did not in the top and crown. I was not told that taxotere could cause permanent hair loss. I know there are other things worse than not having hair, but at least I wishI'd have known there was a risk of permanent hair loss

Mine did. It is growing slowly but it's here.

I think I read that castor oil might help if you massage you scalp with it.

Yes, my hair grew back. It was curly, and now it's straightening again. I was warned of a 5-10% risk of alopecia.

I had Taxotere/Herceptin/Perjeta chemo treatments from Dec. 2014 to March 2015. My hair is growing back, although slowly. It is curly which I have heard called chemo curls. My hair was always thick and straight. So far it seems to still be thick, just growing slow.

Mine grew back and is exactly as it was before treatment. I had 3 treatments of FEC and 6 of Taxotere. It was slow at first and I had the chemo curls initially but now several years down the line it is long and straight again.

eeeek, i knew NOTHING about this possibility until three weeks after I finished Taxotere the law firm I do computer work they had me design an ad regarding law suit against the pharm company that makes Taxotere. THEN I asked my doctor about it and she said was possibility. I didn't lose all my hair during chemo (Taxotere, carboplatin, Pejeta and Herceptin) which also concerned me (I'm told it is a silly concern but I wondered if not killing all hair than maybe not killing all the cancer cells) but I shaved it completely bald because the hair that was left hurt and looked awful. I had no idea there was a chance it may not come back. So far so good

One of my bosses said that the company warned about this in Europe long ago but never in the US until 2016. Wtf

I was warned about this in the US prior to 2016. It was in the manufacturer's materials as well as verbal from my MO.

I was warned and discussed this fully with my MO in 2010, and you can find conversation about Taxotere and permanent hair loss on this discussion board going back that far, so it has been known by oncologists for at least that long. My MO indicated at that time that he personally had one patient that did have permanent hair loss after using Taxotere with many of his patients. My center is the largest private oncology group in the country with 180 docs, and they do share information, he had no hesitation to discuss this fully with me and weigh the pros and cons. I had read the 3-6% figure in my own research and was well aware that I risked this, but with node positive Her2+ cancer I felt I needed to do this regimen, and my hair did grow back. While I also had AC-TH available I was more concerned about irreversible heart damage than my hair, so I chose the TCH.

I had TCHP, and my treatment ended August 2015. My hair came in very slowly, and I had distinct male pattern baldness. More than 7 months later, my hair is long/thick enough on the top of my head to obscure the bald spots. However, I would say that I've lost about half my hair and I have no doubt it is as a result of taxotere. Growth is still very slow on top, but the sides and back requires regular trimming as it is thicker and grows at a faster pace.

My hair did come back but at first, not nearly as thick as before and I had several very thin spots on top. It took a long time, but now I'm 4 1/2 years pfc and it's finally close to what is was before chemo. I take biotin supplements and use a biotin shampoo.

My hair grew (very slowly) while on Taxotere and continued slowly growing once I was finished. It came back very gray. Eventually, as the chemicals diminish in your body, the hair starts growing at it's normal rate. Mine came back as thick or maybe thicker than before and somewhat curlier. The curl is gradually going away and it's been almost 2 years. I wouldn't worry, because that may have an affect on things, too. Just take care of yourself - eat right and get plenty of rest. If you are up to it, walking is great. I didn't do that while on chemo, but started it afterwards and it feels great.

I underwent 6 rounds of Taxotere during summer of 2012. I was never told there was a possibility that my hair might not grow back. My hair did not come back as it was prior to chemo. It is extremely thin, dry, and I have bald areas at crown. The pharma company knew this was a possiblitity and it was labeled as such in Europe, but not here in US. There are now numerous lawsuits pending and it may become a class action suit. The pharma company knew this side effect and yet withheld this knowledge from us here in the US. We had no option to make an informed choice as to our treatment. Taxol, a similar product, provides the same cancer killing effect without the permanent hairloss. I know that had I known the diffference in chemo treatment available to me, I would never have taken the chance with Taxotere and not having my hair return. I am coming up on 5 years and I still feel right in the thick of treatment every time I look at my head. I cannot participate in normal life activities due to embarrassment of no hair. I never leave the house without my wig. I hate it. I feel the company that made this product and did not inform us of the very possible outcome of having no hair regrowth should be held accountable. I am pursing a lawsuit. I want to be compensated for the ongoing expense of rogaine, wigs, and the endless changes to my daily life due to my bald condition. I have been wronged and they need to pay. Do some research ladies. Google Taxotere lawsuit.

I think it was not disclosed well enough and the percentage they did disclose is lower than the reality. If I had known, I could have either done the cold caps or worked with taxol. It absolutely sucks that I went through that and I am still struggling to work with the very thin hair I ended up with after treatment. The company should pay for the pain and suffering it had caused. I see lawsuits in the u.s., but not here in Canada. Whereby can I join a Canadians Class action lawsuit

Whatashocker3 - I'm from Canada too, and was treated for breast cancer with Taxotere. I am two years out from finishing chemo, and I have barely any hair. The crown is super sparse, and I wear a wig everyday.

The day I learned about all of the lawsuits in the United States, I pulled out all my paperwork on chemo side effects that my onologist had given me. Nowhere in there, did it mention permanent hair loss. It said temporary only, and in rare cases may take up to two years to come back. Well it's been two years, and I'm pissed.

I contacted several lawyers to see how to go forward with this, but had no success. I eventually gave up, but I would love to see if there are other canadian women out there who have experienced the same as me.

My crown is also sparse and fine like baby hair and the sides and back are thicker. My hair pre Tax was massively thick and unruly. When I touch my hair now it doesn't feel like me....

I live in Europe and was never told about the possibility of permanent hair loss.

I am 5 years in September, the hair loss has got slightly worse if anything.

My hair came back the same.

I've noticed that some get six rounds of TC and others get four. I wonder if the women whose hair has not returned were more likely to have gotten 6 rounds. I had four rounds.
