Although the dog doesn't look like my  Tessa the food reminds me of her.  As most of you  know she suffers  from pancreatitis and cannot have any fat in her diet.  We had a box full of liqueres left on the table the other night well Chloe got up and knocked them down (cause Tessa is too fat to jump although she has lost a lot of weight) and then they both got stuck into them until they were all gone. We found the box in the morning complete with one dog who had a terrible tummyache.  Hopefully this will teach her but god knows Chloe must be able to jump high even though she is so small.

I thought the link below was interesting.....maybe some hope for those who feel their txs have failed them. The continued search for a "cure" is still very foremost in the health world. http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2013/01/19/cancer-doctor-burzynski.aspx?e_cid=20130119_DNL_art_1&utm_source=dnl&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=20130119

A while back one of our TN sisters posted that her DH believed that you can just cut the cancer out and be done with it. I believe that everyone has cancer cells roaming around in their bodies....these cells just wait for the chance to take advantage of an opportunity to start to multiply. I am in favor of thinking like the DH....I had my rogue cancer cut out and it is gone. Now I will do the best I can to keep the other cancer cells at bay. Yes, I still have my fears with every new ache or pain but I just do the best I can to stay healthy. I gave up my beloved smokes, Diet Coke and have cut back on my adult beverages. I feel very healthy and do believe that I am CURED. If it recurs, then I will wage war on it again. I must say, as horrible as this disease is, I have never met so many wonderful people....Cancer changed my life and not all for the worse. I hope this post does not offend, that is not my intention. Just wanted share my point of view. I hold good thoughts for all cancer victims. What an approrpriate word Victims..that is what we are and no one is immune. The question is WHY?

    Wrenwood47,

First let me say I love Sedona what a wonderful place to live you fortunate person.

I wanted to agree with you that while cancer sucks and this is truly the worst thing to happen in my life (56 yo) and I have had some challenges, I have found blessings in this journey too. I am learning more about myself, I have reconnected with friends, have become convinced that my family loves me and I am very important to them, and feel like I am increasing in my spirituality. Plus so much more. I truly believe that things happen for a reason, I don't have to understand, agree, or ever know why but there has always been a lesson for me.

    Take care, Sheryl

Sunny - great news - bake yourself a cake!

Annie - poor pooch. But you have to love the team spirit!

I'm returning to life after Wed treatment and Thursday's Neulasta shot from Hell. Beautiful weather today. Had a lovely walk with friends.

OMG.  I finally got up the nerve to read about TN, and the first thing (well, not really the first) is that three years is the milestone, not 5 years.  Somebody get me a beer. At the same time I am in agreement with SherylB with all the positive things that I've noticed since this diagnosis. Crazy roller coaster.  We'll see what happens after I talk with MO to discuss my upcoming chemo.

SherylB, thanks for your synopsis of TN cancer, it did help me to understand it better.  I have been on another forum, and avoiding this one because I find it scary, but it is what it is, so I will probably be here more often.

Lauren, I assume you are talking abt the BART test that can go hand in hand with the BRCA1&2 test.  It is considered investigational by Blue Cross/Blue Shield.  It is very expensive and there isn''t tons of research as far as I know to tell you how it would help in determining prognosis/recurrence rates.  But, do call your genetic counselor and ask some pointed questions.  I wouldn't totally freak out if you can't afford it.  $3000 goes a long way to pay for other tests to test for evidence of disease (cancer).

I have 2 more rads to go and then I'm all done with that!  Woot Woot!  I'm tan (and burnt) in places that have never seen the light of day...which is hysterical since I don't tan.  Surprised  Hope to try to get some rest today.  Busy day but couldn't sleep.  (((HUGS))) to all and welcome to the newbies.

    Becky

    Today's Reading From The Bible

    A Reading from Genesis

"And God promised men that good and obedient wives would be found in all
    corners of the earth."

Then He made the earth round. And He laughed and laughed and laughed.

This one's a bit long but worth it:

After 37 years of marriage. Jake dumped his wife for his Young secretary.

His new girlfriend demanded that they live in Jake and Edith's multi-million dollar home and since the man's lawyers were a little better he prevailed. He gave Edith, his now ex-wife, just 3 days to move out. She spent the 1st day packing her belongings into boxes crates and suitcases. On the 2nd day she had to movers come and collect her things. On the 3rd day she sat down for the last time at their beautiful dining room table by candlelight put on some soft background music and feasted on a pound of shrimp, a jar of caviar and a bottle of Chardonnay.

When she had finished she went into each and every room and stuffed half-eaten shrimp shells dipped in caviar into the hollow of all of the curtain rods. She then cleaned up the kitchen and left.

When the husband returned with his new girlfriend all was bliss for the first few days. Then slowly the house began to smell. They tried everything: cleaning, mopping and airing the place out. Vents were checked for dead rodents and carpets were cleaned. Air fresheners were hung everywhere. Exterminators were brought in to set off gas canisters during which they had to move out for a few days and in the end they even replaced the expensive wool carpeting. NOTHING WORKED. People stopped coming over to visit. Repairman refused to work in the house. The Maid quit.

Finally they could not take the stench any longer and decided to move. A month later even through they had cut their price in half they could not find a buyer for their stinky house. Word got out and eventually even the local realtors refused to return their calls. Finally they had to borrow a huge sum of money from the bank to purchase a new place.

The ex-wife called the man and asked how things were going. He told her the saga of the rotting house. She listened politely and said that she missed her old home terribly and would be willing to reduce her divorce settlement in exchange for getting the house back. Knowing his ex-wife had no idea how bad the smell was he agreed on a price that was about 1/10th of what the house had been worth, but only if she were to sign the papers that very day. She agreed and within the hour his lawyers delivered the paperwork.

A week later the man and his girlfriend stood smiling as they watched the moving company pack everything to take to their new home.

    INCLUDING THE CURTAIN RODS.:)

"Remission or cure whichever it is its the waiting that kills for me". Cocker, I feel exactly the same. ((Hug))

    Lol @ Nat...very wise advice.

Karen & Minxie - good to hear you're both doing well.

DorMac ......PRICELESS!! I am so stealing that!

Laying here with pre appointment jitters (6 mo appt with rad onc tomorrow). Have 2 lumps I want checked out. One is on my surgical side, so I think it's just scar tissue. The other is in my non-affected breast, but my breasts are so lumpy I should name them tapioca. Hopefully nothing. My weight loss has continued so my primary has ordered CAT scans just to be sure nothing is going on. (He said that the oncologist can work under their theory of not doing unnecessary scans, but he'll order whatever the hell he wants!).

Congrats and thanks to those who have stopped by to celebrate their milestones. Titan you always inspire me.

I enjoyed the discussions of change vs no change in lifestyle. I have made changes in my life. This disease has made me realize that life is short and a crapshoot. I now do what I want, whether it be eating chocolate or exercising. (Okay, okay, there's a lot more chocolate going on than exercising, lol)

LuvRV - hope you're having a great time.

Titan - I forgot to tell you I was laughing about your "ho boots" and the old fella's at the casino. Great minds must think alike. This week I bought what I refer to as my "poker slut" shirt for my next trip to the casino. (Black lace shirt with a black bustier underneath!)

Hey guys, checking back in... I had my TE expander surgery on Monday. I forgot how uncomfortable these stupid things are! Pain's pretty bad at times when I move - like a knife in the ribs, I should stay still more, I know, but that's not possible as a mom!

When I was admitted to the hospital, they wanted 2400$ up front!!! My new deductible plus 20% of surgery. My insurance is getting worse and worse every year. I could not pay it all, so they're going to bill me every month. I couldn't believe it. That ObamaCare or something has to kick in soon because this is insane. I don't know how I'm going to pay for the second surgery in April!

And the fates continue to rain down crap upon me - yesterday kept my oldest son home to help me out since it was only day 1 after surgery. Instead, after listening to his compliants about an itchy head, I took a close look and found... LICE!!! So instead of resting in bed I was running around buying lice treatment and combing out his hair. Youngest son comes home with dad, one quick look shows he is teeming with lice. I get hubby to look me over, and I have them too! I cannot catch a break. We shaved both the boys down to a 1/4 inch crewcut. But my hair, my beautiful hair that finally 4 years after chemo and baldness is down to my shoulders, lush, thick... I can't bear the thought of cutting it off. So here I am, in pain, can't use right arm, and I'm trying everything to get these miserable buggers off me.

Someone said I'd laugh about this one day. But today is not that day.

    :(

Head lice is evil. Went through that a couple times when kids were in baseball. Best product I used to get rid of it was tea tree oil. Saturate the hair and leave it on until all the eggs are gone. Wear a shower cap in between picking. You can leave it in for days as it is all natural and non toxic. If the eggs hatch in between picking, the bug dies and cannot continue the cycle. Another helpful tip is to trash bag the laundry and bedding until you are up for all that washing. Gosh the timing is terrible.

Minxie - I wish I could come help you! Lice are a freaking nightmare. Go wash a pain pill down with a nice glass of wine ;)

Kathy - wishing you the best concerning your lumpy boobs. I love your doctor's attitude! We need a photo of you in your poker slut shirt!

DorMac - thanks for the funnies!

Getting a sinus infection. Lucky I was having a shopping / lunch day with a friend with a Rx pad. Started an antibiotic. When I called my onco, it went to triage nurse voice mail. My WBC is super low. Glad I've escaped getting sick until now.

Kathy...love the poker shirt...may it bring you lots of luck..I still admire you playing poker...I just don't have the patience...we are going to the new Columbus casino this weekend.and visiting the son at OSU...I think he is wondering if we are really visiting him or visiting him so we can go the casino..I wonder that myself...lol.

Oh Minxie..yikes on the lice...don't cut your hair..just kill the buggers...and have the glass of wine

OBX..blah on the sinus infection...this flu stuff going around is just nasty...I've escaped so far but freaking out about it.

Minx - nothing laughable about the insurance or the lice. Got a good friend or family member who can help you with your hair and the laundry? (Real friends are glad to be able to help in some way)

Karen - bless friends with RX pads and booo to triage nurse not calling back. Pt. with a low WBC and an infection is a priority call.

Titan - I'll see if I can get my friend to snap a shot. ( when I described my poker shirt to her, she did do some serious laughing)

Good news, doc thinks lumps are just lumpy breasts, but to keep an eye on them. ( at least my breasts have frequent feel ups in my future, even if it's just self breast exam!)

Someone on another thread just told me she visited my website. I am thrilled! If you have little kids or grandkids here is something to listen to together. It is called "A Winter's Day" and has 18 minutes of songs, activities and a story all about winter (of course). A quick link for anyone interested - it is in a public folder at dropbox.

I start my first of 12 weekly Taxol treatments tomorrow. I have been on the weekly taxol thread and most everyone is saying that this will be so much better than AC. I really am hoping so because AC has been really, really rough.

I check out the TN foundation site occasionally for the news articles. I haven't tried any of the discussion boards though. They some resources you can download. I also purchased the "100 Questions and Answers about TN Breast Cancer" booklet they were advertising. It has some good information.

I do recommend the book "Surviving Triple Negative Breast Cancer" by Pat Prijatel. The author is a researcher by profession and has done a ton of research on TN since being diagnosed with it herself. She also has a blog where you can find good information: http://hormonenegative.blogspot.com/. Here is a specific blog to read that gives some very encouraging statistics: http://hormonenegative.blogspot.com/2011/10/tnbc-statistics-of-survival_20.html

Thanks for all the lice advice, friends! So far today I have tried isopropyl alcohol, tea tree oil, and mayonnaise. And lots of combing. I'm finding finding fewer nits each time, but I know there's no way I can get them all myself. All bedding, pillows and stuffed animals washed. Towels tomorrow, and coats.

I am soooo sore and tired. What a nightmare. My mom kept offering to come down and help with this surgery but I told her no, it was a minor thing, no need... Looks like the lice had other plans for my recovery!

    Hi Ladies

what a time you are all having.

Dormac that was just so funny. Nothing like a woman scorned.

OBXK fancy getting sick girl.  How on earth did your friend give you an RX  script.  Here in NZ only doctors or professionals can issue them and the pharmacy would only accept them from those people.  Hope you feel better soon and kick the arse of that flu.

Minx my granddaughter had nits once.  My daughter washed her hair and put in and left on a heap of condition then went through her hair with a special comb before washing the conditioner out.  It worked a treat and it wasn't sore for my little one with the comb going through her long hair.  Luckily and unbelieveable nobody else got them.  Hopefully you will get that longed for rest very soon. Yep don't foget the wine!

Kath whatever next.  Getting your breasts felt up (often), a black poker slut shirt.  I knew you had your eye on someone at that casino.  I might just have to come over and check him out. I'm all for seeing the photo too.
