Calling all TNs

mccrimmon - your onc should be able to advise, but it looks to me as if your Her2 and receptor status must be known - not necessarily positive, although that is defined. I'm pretty sure there's a TN or two on this board who is in the trial, maybe try searching or start a new thread.

OMG Kymn, what an a$$hole! I am so sorry you're dealing with this. I wish we could all come there and just randomly torture him.... trip him on the street, drop a jar of pickles on him at the grocery store, put nails on his street so he gets a flat tire, spit in his take-out, etc. He doesn't know any of us so he wouldn't know what hit him - KARMA!!!!!
-
Thanks Team
You are all 'my team' now.
All I can say is thank you for being there for me. I am so scared and pissed. This is a great place to turn....
-
denjak - hang in there. As you get a game plan in place, you'll start to channel that pissed feeling into fighting.
Kymn - what an asshat. Stay strong.

8-12 inches of snow tomorrow night. My kids can't wait for Sunday!
Feeling this last chemo a little bit, a touch of nausea, weird metallic taste, fluid retention. Oh well. My cough is coming back a bit now that I'm off the steroids, so I'm going to push for a scan next week rather than waiting. -
Thought you guys might get a kick out of these two photos from tonight's Halloween Costume Contest. We won!
-
Kymn don't worry about him. My x did the same to me we had been married for 19 years. he decided to he wanted a divorce while I was taken chemo. I am so happy he gone. but today my oldest daughter turn 17 she didn't even get a text. It is hard seeing her heart broke. some male are just jerks.
-
Heidi: Love the photos!!
Kymm: Hugs and strength coming your way.
FUBC(and stupid, shallow,selfish men too)
Suze: Snow=bad 4 letterword.
LJ: how ya doing?

Heidi - loved it!
Kymn - things will get better. Who knows, your husband may even grow up. If not, no worries, just take in your own life lessons, and become an even stronger person.
Inmate- love the image of a manic turtle!
Thanks for the mattress advice. I have tried the Temperpedic (sp) but it didn't bounce back up quickly, when I changed positions. I stayed at a B&B just to try it! May sleep in the guest room tonight. It has a pretty good double bed, but I hate to mess up, the only room that is always pristine.
Wish my flood insurance check would get here, I need some heat! -
Great job Heidi! Look at those cute little bugaboos!
-
Heidi I love your photos. Busted me up. The cats are hysterical. The beekeeper with the bumble bees was so creative. How much fun is that!
Suze I am sad to hear your feeling so low. Hope it passes soon for you and things right themselves quickly. Glad you're pushing for the scan and not putting yourself through more than you need to. Your in prayer and thought.
Nov 5 is next onc appointment to determine the day the therapy begins. UGH! I've listened to so many going through it and wonder sometimes if it's worth it. You all have a great evening.
-
Suze, are you getting the runny eyes and nose? The drainage has contributed to a cough for me. I had the chest ct and chest mri after having the cough and it was clear and my nodes were clear, but cough was still there. Of course I still worry, and can see why you worry and want a scan. Hopefully it is just treatment se's. How are your fingers and toes doing? Seems like you are on a high dose also, and it definitly accumulates. hopefully having a week off every forth week helps. The nausea hits me for a couple of days, mostly in the morning. I take a zofran and do ok. Hope tomorrow is a better day. Are you quiting all steroids? I got them with every abraxane because of my past allergy to taxol and we didn't want to take a chance.
-
This is fun to watch... Hope it works.

Swanny- translated it means "How to Get Women to Exercise"
(Saw it a few weeks ago somewhere else)
-
bak - My nose alternates between runny and dry/bloody (yuk), but I know that the cough isn't related to it. When I breathe deeply, I can feel the lymph nodes irritating my lungs, and if I think about it too much, I always have a slight urge to cough. This was happening before I started treatment, so it isn't really new, and it isn't worse - just not better. I actually don't get any pre-meds with my Abraxane. The steroids were to help control my back pain and coughing - they did the trick, but I HATE how I felt on them, so I am almost weaned off (0.5/day). Right now my back pain is under good control, and I am using something else for the cough, so that's okay.
Feeling better today, I can tell this chemo is going to give me stomach issues though (such as heartburn).
It is DH's birthday today, and my daughter's tomorrow, so we are making a big cheese fondue dinner tonight, along with other "charcuterie" munchies - cheeses, fruits, meats, olives, bread - DH LOVES that stuff. Tomorrow will be cake and ice cream. I plan on enjoying some wine and good food, hoping the electricty doesn't go out from the snow, and cuddle my monsters!!
Have a great weekend everyone :-).
-
Heidi - what a great idea for a Halloween costume! Those doggies sure are cute
.
-
Heidi I love the costumes! what a clever idea.
Suze Happy birthday to your family. i hope you get to cuddle. i just love snow and would be so happy if i got some on my birthday.
yesterday was my last gemzar treatment. Suze...i have been up all night on decadron. ugh! hopefully i won't need any steroids on the next drug combo. i need my sleep! i get a scan on friday PET/CT (my doctor doesn't mess around) and get the results on monday (the day before my birthday). it didn't occur to me that i might have a bad scan until yesterday when the nurse apologized for waiting over the weekend for results. i wasn't even going to think about it. huh! the power of suggestion. nope, i'm still not going to think about it!
i hope you all have a great weekend. don't forget the candy for the ghosts and goblins on monday!

Hi everyone. I dropped off a bit getting ready for surgery but thought I'd check back in. I know I've missed a lot, but I hope some of the new plans, new clinical trials, and relationship shifts have smoothed over a bit. And I'll echo the BC s*cks sentiment. Oh, and welcome to the newbies - though I am sorry you have to join us, fun a group as we are.
Titan, you're so right about the 'what causes cancer' info. I'm just starting to feel like the bottom line is.... no one knows. My gut says it really is a combination of factors, and we just never may know how diet, environment (Splenda? plastic bottles and food containers??) and biology conspire to trigger that first cell. I spent a week doing reporting on the 10th anniversary of Chernobyl in and around Chernobyl, Minsk and Kiev, plus lived for 3 years in Russia - who knows what I ran into there. I have a pretty healthy lifestyle otherwise, but had the brca 2 gene.
Interestingly, the only thing my BS stressed when he stopped in during rounds was to increase my Vitamin D. He doesn't strike me as a supplement pusher, and I did find an article about a study suggesting a link between D deficiency and TN... who knows. But it can't hurt to give it a try.
I had my surgery Wednesday and am in that wonderful period in between (pain and discomfort not-withstanding) where I can feel like I'm cancer-free. They took two nodes and they were negative. I know my path report will be the final arbiter - and given a choice, I will take chemo to be extra, extra sure. It took three months from finding the damn lump to getting it out, and I'm having a hard time really believing that not a single cell slipped through to do more damage later.
Have a good weekend, all (even if it we are getting snow before Halloween!) I sort of liked it. Snow has its pretty side. And it's not like I'm going out anywhere!

Hello ladies,
I know that I haven't posted in a while. I wan't you to know that yesterday was my last day in the chair and I am glad to be finished! I have got a little C and back pain going on--I brought my All-Bran cereal in a ziplock bag to chemo and forgot to eat it--I had only had 2 cookies and had forgotten to be drinking lot's of fluids when I got home. I could tell that I was having a lot of mental fogginess yesterday. DH was working from home and didn't think about it either. I did have the All-Bran for a bedtime snack but I still have the big C. I took 4 Pericolaces before bed tonight and have some Magnesium Citrate to take tomorrow if needed. I got the big C round 1 and waited until Tuesday to call my onc--I'll take the Mag Citrate tomorrow if I need it. I couldn't walk outside today because we have snow--before Halloween! So I will keep in touch--I'm on on to 28 rounds of Rads the Monday after Thanksgiving! Will some of you be having radiation, too? Best wishes and no SE's to you! -
Just stopping for a minute to say Hi to everyone and hope everyone is having a great weekend. Suze, sorry that you are feeling a bit under the weather, scan is a good idea next week. Heidi, I love the halloween costumes, the dogs are so cute. Are you the blonde in black jacket in the pic?
I was wondering if anyone knows anything I can take to lower my cholesterol levels which seems to be a bit high. I know there is nothing better than diet and exercise, but I have hurt my neck from lifting weights, so have to stop that for a while unfortunately. Thanks.

lovelyface- No, I'm the BeeKeeper and they're my hive!

Bottle of Wine
A woman and a man are involved in a car accident on a snowy, cold Monday morning; it's a bad one. Both of their cars are totally demolished, but amazingly neither of them is hurt. God works in mysterious ways.
After they crawl out of their cars, the man is yelling about women drivers.
The woman says, 'So, you're a man. That's interesting. I'm a woman. Wow, just look at our cars! There's nothing left, but we're unhurt. This must be a sign from God that we should be friends and live in peace for the rest of our days.'
Flattered, the man replies, 'Oh yes, I agree completely, this must be a sign from God! But you're still at fault...women shouldn't be allowed to drive.'
The woman continues, 'And look at this, here's another miracle. My car is completely demolished but this bottle of wine didn't break. Surely God wants us to drink this wine and celebrate our good fortune. She hands the bottle to the man.
The man nods his head in agreement, opens it and drinks half the bottle and then hands it back to the woman.
The woman takes the bottle, puts the cap back on and hands it back to the man.
The man asks, 'Aren't you having any?'
The woman replies, 'No. I think I'll just wait for the police...'
MORAL OF THE STORY:
Women are clever, evil bitches.
Don't mess with them.

Heidi,
What cute little bees!! Knowing Bostons, you need a full time beekeeper to keep those fiesty dogs from buzzing around! They are great dogs.
Had first infusion from eribulin clinical trial on Friday - I am fatigued and have body aches but felt good enough to go to a party last night and do some shopping. I'm trying to work now, but that isn't going as well! No nausea, but they gave me Aloxi? in my infusion. The eribulin infusion is very fast - just an injection, really - but the anti nausea takes longer, about 20 minutes.
