Patty ~ I just caught your post as I was shutting down my computer to get on the road, but wanted to add very quickly that I have heard of fantastic results for pancreatic cancer @ UCLA, where I'm being treated, and where I happen to be headed today. I will try to ask when I'm there if their approach is unique in any way, and if I find out anything worth passing along to you, I will PM you over the weekend. I'm so sorry this has happened to you. It does seem incredulous. I will also be praying for you and your family. Deanna

Hi Patty - My family (husband and dad) and a friend had multiple serious medical problems in 2008, then my mastectomies in 2009. We're all recovered now, with God's help to get us through. His strength is sufficient and He is able to carry us through! We take so much for granted and tend to depend on Him when things are tough, then slide back when things smooth out! Slowly, He has been teaching us the daily dependance on Him. God loves you both. He'll guide you as you search for the alternatives that will help the medical treatments. I'll follow this thread to learn more about these things myself. And I'll be praying!

Thank you to everyone for your encouraging words! These last few weeks have been a whirlwind of doctors, tests and decisions!! My husband and I decided to go to CTCA in Illinois so that he can benefit from the conventional treatments and also naturopathic, mind/body, nutrition...etc. This place is amazing and I cannot say enough about the treatment there. Right now there is question as to whether my husband pancreatic cancer is resectable. He has some very small spots in his liver...too small to be seen on PET and on endoscopic ultrasound but they showed up on CT Scan and MRI. Radiologist said they are malignant.....GI doc that did U/S said he only saw cysts. So they have started him on Gemzar and Xeloda for now and will see what the spots do. I'm looking into vitamin C therapy for him and for myself. As of last week my PET and head scans were clear...AMEN. I need to be strong for my husband and for my children at this time. Thank you for your advice, encouragement and especially for your prayers

Love, Patty

Patty,
Please know I will pray for you and your dear husband and children. I do believe in the power of voices gently raised in unison. Your weight is great, and however others can help carry your water in support is the least that should be done. Have faith, and may all your families doctors and health care team stretch deep with their knowledge and care of you all.

Patty,
I believe that prayer is the greatest power we have on earth and I love I John 5:14 & 15 - And we can be confident that he will listen to us whenever we ask him for anything in line with his will. And if we know he is listening when we make our requests we can be sure that he will give us what we ask for. My prayers are with you and your family and I am in agreement for a full and speedy recovery for you an your husband!

Hi All,
Just an update on my husband. He was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in March. Just before I was done with my herceptin treatments! He's been gettting chemo and recently started radiation to shrink the tumor for surgery. We were told that he was stage 4 all along and the newest doc seems to think the spots in his liver are only cysts. We are so hopeful. We know all about pancreatic cancer and it's statistics...I lost my mom and he lost his dad to it. (great genes) So just wanted to update anyone that was curious

-
Thats wonderful news. I will keep you all in my prayers.

Hubby passed away after his 14 month battle with pancreatic cancer
Helping him through his battle made me forget about my own. Fight or flight. As soon as he died all my joint pain came back and have got some aching left hip and knee pain....argh -

Patty - you are in my prayers. I am so incredibly sorry for your loss. I know you must be very strong but may God give you strength through this time. A friend of mine gives me a chain of quotes (biblical and otherwise) for each chemo round I go through. Yesterdays chain link was "Trust in the Lord with all your heart. And lean not on your own understanding: In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths." Proverbs 3:5-6. Thinking of and praying for you. Pam
