I don't make resolutions because I can never remember to keep them. But I am going to do more cleaning for sure.
-
I was watching Horders last night too Meece and it really makes me want to purge. We also have boxes in our garage that haven't been opened since we moved in and like Renee we have items around the house that haven't seen the light of day or been worn in years. Along with curbing my food intake another resolution will be to purge stuff in my house. Faith, I think moving is a great way to purge and doing it in a warmer climate is especially lovely (have a glass of wine for me)!
-
I always watch the Hoarders. I feel so good at the end where everything is nice and neat.
The only ones i dont like to watch when the house smells from raw garbage and Mickey Mouses show their faces. i like keep my house half empty. i hate to see anything that doesnt belong where it suppose to.
-
Boy Sheila you're bringing back memories of my visiting nurse days and public health nursing days. Some of those houses were absolutely unbelievable and the smell incredibly horrid. Many critters and bugs. I get the shivers remembering!
I've got an office though that is about one step from qualifying for the show "Clean House" or whatever it's called that organizes a room for people!
-
I used to run a cleaning company ad we'd get called in by social services to elderly hoarder's homes. So sad.
I need my sewing room cleaned/organized. I'd be proud if I could manage that this year.
-
I guess there are many levels of hoarding.
If i didn't want to wash the dishes one night that's not dirty or hoarding.
today they said something in the show that caught my attention about adult children moving out and using mom.s house as a storage.
Well it will be 2 years next month my DD moved far away but all the winter clothing was left behind.
I still call that closet her closet. Its organized and neat but i don't think they are coming back to NY for good. Maybe its time......
-
I've watched that show hoarders a few times but I can never remember when it comes on. I was truly amazed how much these people have. Now I must say my house it cluttered and could use a good cleaning and thinning out but not at all like those homes. Mine mostly has toys these days from my granddaughter. LOL

Good Luck to all of us with the cleaning...

Moving does require a "life review" of sorts.
We really did take a car full to the daughter with the kiddies -- she got all of the toys that had once been my kiddos. A HUGE box of Legos was probably their favorite 'find.'
We also took a WHOLE lot to the DC daughter on that trip at the end of last month...... they could sift thru their own piles & boxes. We just took another heap to GA to give out to the previous owners.
I can't even begin to remember how many trips that we made to Goodwill. Fortunately there was a drop off spot at the end of our street..... anything that had any 'use' left was donated.
This home is MUCH smaller...... and there's no basement, so much has been pared down in the process. It felt good to send things on to others who might get some use from things that were no longer needed.
Made it to the gym this morning, for another hour of machines. I am training myself. I am going to take advantage of this season at hand & the access to the machines. I swear I am going to make a difference in the coming weeks!!
I think we should all set our sights on the ELAB one year anniversary.
Meecie.
Can we have a contest of some sort??
A competition??
Teams??
A prize??
We need to rejuvinate our enthusiasm for the anniversary!!!
-
That sound's like a great idea. Can you help me how to implement it, Faithie? Just about 9 weeks out if I calculate right. I have a Dr. Appt on the 7th. Terrible when you can tell time by dr. appointments.
-
-
Okay, ladies. I also don't usually make resolutions but will make one to join ELAB for 2011. Between this, the exercise thread and Wednesday weigh-in thread I'm bound to get that scale moving again (downward!). I'm down 18 from one year ago so will start there.
Meece, sign me up starting at 185, please.
Let the fun begin.
-
Weeee! Glad to have you, Patoo. Does this mean our night time treats have to be low cal?
-
Not necessarily - portion cntrol, remember! Sometimes one or two bites is enough.
-
Okay, I can do that. I have made a bag of M&Ms last three days this week.
-
See, I'm proud of you (big bag or small? LOL)
-
A small Bag, the one serving size.
-
Patoooooooooo!!!!!
Welcome to the LAB!!!
You're just in time for our big contest -- eating like a bird to celebrate our first anniversary.
Congrats on your amazing success, already in progress.
Help Meecie figure out some way for us to have a friendly competition.
I think we should have teams.
What about 3 or 4 teams??
Team captains can be from our 'regular' posters.
Members can be assigned in some random manner -- alotting those we haven't heard from in a while -- equally across the teams.
we could have team nick names. Team colors. Team slogans.
Yes. I'm easily entertained.
-
Sounds fun, I will need to see who is still posting and then once the team captains are decided the next person to post will be assigned to the captains in order. Problem is, faithie, you are a FP (Frequent Poster) and I wanna be on your team!

Two years ago today, 12.31.08, I had my first DXA scan & am scheduled for my 2 year follow-up Jan 4.
Was looking at the DXA Bone Densitometry Report & my weight was 139. Yikes! I have gained 10# in 2 years!!!!!

Oh, Val, you sooooo need to get this butt in gear!!

Monday, Jan 3, I will be in my basement starting my work-out walking again.
I can't blame it all on that little white pill ~ I take full responsibility for what I put into my mouth.
(but, because of that AI, I feel like I'm fighting a losing battle....)Hi Patoo!! Good to see you again! Yes, portion control is what I'm aiming for in the New Year.
I will ....~.... I will ....~.... I can & I will suceed.
-
What do you ladies think if we post our January 1st weight as a starting point for the year, and the contest?
-
Starting a contest on my birthday - how can I lose? (pun intended)
-
You were a New year's baby? Did your mom win any gifts?
-

No, I think I was #2, born a little after 1 a.m. Actually my parents were having a new year's eve party and I either decided I wanted to join the fun, or she was dancing too much and I didn't like being tossed around, bouncing against the walls of her stomach. My dad, always thinking about the comfort of others, refused to leave his guests at the party, so my uncle took mom to the hospital. Dad showed up the next day, probably after the hangover wore off!
-

Let's E-LAB.
-
How funny, Patoo!
-
-
Sounds like the contest is on. I was going to "weight" until the first Friday in January to weigh in but in honor of our one year contest I'll hop on the scale tomorrow. Happy New Year fellow E-labers!
-
I thought about using the beginning weight from today, but the results might look better if I weight until I have gorged myself tonight.
-
Meece...i was thinking about the same thing. LOL
