THE 2ND TA TAS SISTERHOOD REUNION IN VEGAS!!
Comments

I think with a group our size that having reserved tables would probably be wise. I'm not a big drinker so I don't really have a preference as to exactly which place we go though --I just want to be able to get to know my TaTa sisters better!!
TCK
-
Gisella -- I think we should go ahead with the Venetian that you've been planning all along. I am sorry to have thrown the Voodoo Lounge out there at this late date... if you had a bad time that is reason enough not to go! I agree the reserved tables at the Venetian would be best with a group this large and $400 a table at the Rio sounds ridiculous to me!
-
Tracey -- Hugs!!!! I would also be freaking out... BUT: these tests are probably often variable and next time you could be back to 28 or 29. The numbers are close. Why would your ONC tell you not to worry and it's normal if there was any chance it's not? I know it's scary. I have to say -- my ONC has done blood tests on me all year and I have no idea what the numbers have been! I think I will ask her now.
-
Tracey,
I have done some reading about the CA-129 tumor marker for breast cancer. By ITSELF, it is not a very reliable indicator. It is also a lagging indicator. Mine was normal when I was diagnosed, higher right after chemo and then normal again 3 months later. Oncologists usually use it in conjunction with other tests to determine a course of action. In fact, my oncologist isn't using it at all anymore. He went to a conference where it was discussed at length in a presentation and the trend is moving away from using it.
Your number is still in the normal range, so I wouldn't stress at all. I think that's right about where mine was the last time too.
HUGS.
-
Tracey....Mona is right....Love ya
Hannahbearsmom, I am not a drinker...probably be sipping on water unless I get a beer to sip on.. LOL...I too just want to spend time with my sisters.
Lilah....I agree with you...the Venetian and tables for us
-
Lilah, nothing to apologize for, any ideas are welcome. The Voodoo lounge does have an amazing view of Vegas. Annie is waiting for an answer from them so hopefully by next week we will have something for Friday night.
I went there on a Friday night for dinner at the restaurant. Food was OK. Then we went up to the lounge. Inside was so crowded we could not walk then we went outside and it was wild.
We will update you as soon as we know something.
Hugs
Gisella
-
LILAH, THANKS FOR YOUR RESPONSE. I GET MY NEW RESULTS ON MONDAY. BUT FROM NOW ON I WILL FOR SURE BE LESS OBSESSED WITH THE NUMBERS. WHEN SHE SAYS NORMAL IM GONNA TRY TO LEAVE IT AT THAT! KEEP YA POSTED AND THANKS AGAIN FOR YOUR NICE WORDS!
-
Gisella -- I think the time I was there it was a Sunday (so not a party night, not so crowded). I really think if it's a crazy scene like that it isn't what I imagined at all! The time I went I must have gone before 8 PM (to avoid the cover) and my recollection was that there was a small crowd. And did not do the dinner part (I have heard it's pretty average)... I really had just gone for the view.
-
Tracey girl HANG IN THERE!!! If your doc is NOT concerned you need to trust HER!!
OK Girls I have to vent!!! I'M P*SSED!! As you all know I formed The TaTa Sisterhood team for our Komen Race for the Cure last year...I formed it again this year....WELL I went to add my daughter and hubby....to find that somebody ELSE has taken over! They called Komen to have me and KEW taken off as captains and made themself a captain!! URGH!! I guess Komen will seperate us but we will both have the same name...urgh...If it's somebody on this site...PLEASE let me know so we can get together...if it isn't...then urgh!!
OK getting in the shower to cool off!
HUGS!!
p.s. thanks for listening...reading
-
Janet
-
Janet, Oh no! Hope you can get this straightened out...Doesn't sound right that they would have your names taken off and replaced with theirs. That's not "SISTERLY" at all!!
Terri
-
Tracey, Hang in there....if Doc's not worried then you have to try to trust and relax...easier said than done , I know.
Terri
-
Yeah WTF Janet? That just doesn't seem right at all. How could Komen do that?
You should form a group called The REAL Ta Ta Sisterhood lol. Or maybe The ORIGINAL Ta Ta Sisterhood?
-
Hi Ladies
I finally got around to letting Jazzy know I'm in for everything : )
Surprised to see they canceled paint the sq pink... thank goodness we didn't go with that weekend just because of that...
Jancie this post made me smile...
I was hung over to the max and yes...I left early and went to bed for a little bit but I still enjoyed the company and the food! It was all PackerGirl and Sandy Sunshine's fault for getting me so blitzed at the piano bar
and then making me walk 1 hour back to the hotel. Heck, I am in for more torture again this year! Bring it on LADIES!
I'm just wondering will some gals be coming over for coffee when I'm just getting to bed lol
well here's a up date on my mom also...
today we went for the results of her pet and cat scan... Oncoligist said they were good but they did see some nodules on her lung and thyroid but said not to worry ( I myself had something found on a mri and was told no worries and I think I have heard this from others...). She started her 1st dose of chemo today ( 5-FU with leucovorin and oxaliplatin (FOLFOX). She has been staying positive and strong. To be honest I haven't even seen her cry about this.. I did have a talk with her one night and said it's ok to be sad if she needs and nothing is wrong with crying. I just hope my dad is supportive for her... they have been married 51 years but I really only remember a few happy years : ( actually I guess I should say days or weeks at a time never a whole year at a time... : (
-
Sandy- Keeping your mom in my prayers......and your dad, too.....
I've been out of town for a week, so have missed a good bit. Just wanted to check if I missed signing up for something. I'd hate to miss out on any fun!
-
OK my Sista's-Verdict is in!! Good news & then some not so good. 1st..."I'M THE BUG" According to the Specialist Dr.Gilbert-I caught a very very band strain of the MRSA & will have to live with it for the rest of my life. I got a new list of to do's with a list of no no's.For starter's- I have a cream "MUPIROCIN" for MRSA that I will have to apply to the inside of my nose and under my nails twice a day for the rest of my life. 5 Dr.'s have said I need to get rid of my nails, but when all this started I didn't have them, but they consider it a source to harbor the infection. Thank goodness the cream isn't that expensive-but as my husband puts it- better to spend that than have me in the hosptial. A few of us complain about our weight gain-I'm there to & my family has told me not to worry about it & just get healthy. I know I needed to lose weight before the next surgery & was told to lose 30lbs before we can take care of the gut issue. The hernia's caused quite abit damaged & I looked 8-9 months pregnant-now with them fixed I still have the aftermath & deal with everyday problems due to this extra sag-just need to take charge of all this new information & make some major changes- it could've been far worst & I know this was the best news we could've hoped for & healed enough that I don't have to go back into the hosptial. I've got another week of double doses of meds, still can't get outside in the Sun,but it's only one more week.Thank you all of you for your continued Thoughts/Prayers/Support-LOVE YA!! (((HUGS))) & Couldn't have done this with out all of my Wonderful SISTA'S!! XOXOXOXOXO
Plus I've got something Great to look forward to-35 days till VEGAS!! WAHOOOOOOOO!!!
Sandy-Power Prayers for you & your Parents!!
Take care Chow XOXO Susie
-
Praying for you Susie
also prayers going out for Sandy's parents
I am heading out the door for my trip to visit family in GA...hoping to see Gretchen while I am there and I will be seeing Earleen on Monday for touchups.....I will see you all next Weds or Thurs....be good now. Don't want all my Vegas buddies to get into trouble....
-
Susie, I'm glad they finally figured out why you haven't been able to get rid of this and that you aren't going to wind up back in the hospital. That is good news! On to bigger and better things, right?!!
Sandy, I'm thinking positive thoughts for you, your Mom and your Dad. I hope that she tolerates the tx well and trucks right on through to a positive outcome, and that your Dad can be there for her.
Linda, have a GREAT weekend! Give Gretchen a hug for us, and have fun with Earleen! I'm so jealous. I need to get off the stick and figure out if I want to do the fat grafts or not and then move on to tats.
-
just took a quick look at some of the posts ... a couple notes from an old-timer!! if you get the chance to go to vegas, grab it with both hands and go. add to that the chance to meet sisters from here? grab with hands and feet!!! i went to vegas (not with ta tas) in 2008 and met up with 27 chatters - 25 of whom i'd never met in person before. i was scared, and it was one of the best trips of my life.
as for tamoxifen, there are a few threads on the boards just for that - one is "top three side effects from tamoxifen" which is very active and filled with info and helpful hints and things to avoid while on tamoxifen.
hugs to you all
-
I just found out that I may need 2 procedures done really soon. I am hoping to get one done before Vegas and then there is a possibility that I will need some orthoscopic hip surgery done which I will definately put off until after the trip as there is no way in the world I would miss it.
Depending on my surgeons schedule I am not sure I can get the first procedure done and get healed up before Vegas. I will find out by the end of next week what my surgeries schedules will be.
If I have to put everything on hold until after Vegas I am going to do so because nothing is going to keep me from coming!
-

TRACEY... I am not sure if you read here all the time.. due to your job... and I was on vacation when you posted about tumor markers.... just FYI... my cancer center will NEVER do tumor maker test for BC. They tell us that they give WAY to many false +. I am sorry you had to worry. I HATE that... (((((HUG))))))) I am SO relieved that it was ok! WAHOOOOOOOOOOO
JAZ... ARE YOU KIDDING...
.... well.... I knew that when I named us the TaTa Sisterhood... and Tracey asked me if it was ok to use that name for our reunions.. and you asked me to use it for the Koman Run......... I knew.... something SO special would leak out.... It is ok.... only we .... meaning all of us.... will know where it started. I started with a VERY VERY special group of ladies who refused to give in to cancer ... starting in 2008.... and it keeps on going.... on BCO. It is US ladies. We will never, ever forget.

I'm a local Vegas girl and am planning on meeting up with everybody most likely on Friday evening. I have held off making plans to attend because I start radiation in Houston the middle of September but have decided to make that weekend one of the weekends that I come back to Vegas. Can somebody please let me know where and when the Friday evening festivities will be happening and do I need to RSVP in a more official manner or is this good enough?
Thanks and looking forward to meeting everybody.
