Hi!
November 26th, (day 31) my radiation burn felt tender but not raw under breast. I hope everyone had a good Thanksgiving.

Hi all,
I haven't posted in a long time, but have been getting back in the swing of work and life after finishing rads at the end of September. I too am coming up on my first mammogram since my diagnosis this week. I am scared. It was just last year when I was completely oblivious as I went to get my first mammogram in 3 years. I would have never believed last year at this time that my 2010 would have been like this. I also will be having a precautionary hysterectomy on Dec. 13th. Boy will I be glad to ring in the new year and get a fresh start to 2011.
((Hugs)) to all!

Hi! arubajan05,
Good luck with mammogram and December 13th surgery, with a speedy recovery during the holidays.
-
Hi Everyone - First time on this thread. I was dx'd in Aug 2010 and it has been one heck of a bad rollercoaster ride since then. Had lumpectomy, no chemo, & 30 rads (25 + 5 boosts). Have 3 more boosts after today. Will see my onc on Dec 13 to discuss Femara and other follow up stuff. Other than the Femara, I have no idea what is next in the way of mammos, MRIs, etc.
Hoping to get a break from all treatment until after the holidays. Have been at it without a break for the past 3 months. Am really tired from rads, the fatigue some days is a killer.
Have A Great Day

Hi! jo1955,
There is also 2010 Sisters board. Not many posts on this board. Lucky you, no chemo.
-
Teka - I am on th 2010 Sisters board. Perhaps we can do something to get this one going more.

Hi! jo1955,
BC patients come and go from the on-line boards. I would like to believe it's because majority get better, and move on with their lives. Also, there are so many off-line BC support groups. I only use on-line boards.
-
Hi Teka - I am like you. I only use the online ones. I would like to think that one day we will all be able to move on and put BC far behind us.

Thanks for the well wishes, Teka! Yes I like to think that when women stop posting or delay for a while they are out and enjoying life!

Hi! All,
Today, radiation oncologist saw radiation burn is healed under breast and wants me to see a (PT) for breast massage to remove edema, and prevent scar tissue and heavy breast. I start on December 10th. I'll have my next radiation oncologist visit on February 8th. Always, something.
-
Hope everyone is enjoying their holiday season. I am having a hysterectomy on Monday (preventative reasons -- don't want uterine or ovarian cancer down the road). I am anxious to put 2010 in the rear view mirror.
((Hugs)) to all!
-
Hi! arubajan05,
I had a vaginal hysterectomy a few years back, and kept ovaries. Medical oncologist shows no concern about ovaries. (TN) Good luck with surgery.
-
Hi!
Today, BP 177/102, and put on a diuretic, but able to have Avastin treatment. High blood pressure is a likely side effect of Avastin, according to Clinical Trial E5103. Always something.
-
Hi!
January 20th, I was also put on Lisinopril for high blood pressure. I now understand that this could be a precursor to kidney damage.
-
Today, I saw radiation oncologist for the last time, and was told not to have the scheduled yearly mammogram but to wait 12 months out from chemo and radiation.
-
I've had 2 mammos of the affected side already, and am scheduled for the duo in 3 more months. Having one done 3 mos after rads was hard, but reassured me. I'm curious that your doc is having you wait, Teka.
-
just had my mammo and USS today (12 months after diagnosis), all clear. yahoo. Teka, I hope your blood pressure has settled down now. Good luck with your follow up scans.
-
Good question. I am due yearly mammogram, and 3 months out from rads. Two different schools of thought. Have follow-up mammograms starting 3 months after rads, or wait 12 months out because I had chemo and radiation, and still taking avastin. Medical oncologist doesn't see the need for any follow-up test to check for metastasis, but didn't hesitate ordering mammogram after I told him that I got my yearly reminder in the mail. I'll be seeing the medical oncologist on the 24th.
-
hereandnow,
Good news!
-
retrievermom,
You haven't had a mammogram of both breast since November 2009?
-
They did MRI both sides before my surgery in Jan 2010, but, yeah, no mammo of both since then. Not till this July. I've wondered about that and will ask.
-
retrievermom,
I've had no MRI. However, been reading on-line about post lumpectomy mammograms. My breast has not settled down enough from chemo, radiation, avastin, and truncal lymphedema which on a mammogram could cause me to go through unnecessary biopsies. Medical oncologist, radiation oncologist, breast surgeon, and whoever else are supposed to review my BC case in a meeting at different times to make sure I receive the best care. I wonder if medical oncologist will say radiation oncologist is wrong, and give good reason?
-
Today, I had last (PT) and will continue daily breast massage at home.
-
I had my "annual" mammogram in December which was clear -- both sides. But I have never had an MRI. I had to go to a "genetic counselor" who "couldn't believe" I had never had one, to get one ordered. I have been asking for one for a while, just for peace of mind and for a baseline should I have any issues in the future. I will be scheduling one very soon!
-
arubajan05,
I really don't think there is all this confusion with other cancer treatments. BC patients are hung out to dry. Good luck!
-
Hi!
Today, medical oncologist said OK to wait 12 months after radiation treatments for mammogram.
-
Today, last dose of Avastin, but Medical Oncologist for the time being wants me to keep chemo port.
-
Mammogram and ultrasound OK. My BS on June 15th removed benign cyst from up under (L) breast, which was probably caused by severe radiation burn, and on July 20th removed chemo port.
Starting 9-1-11 I'll only post about TNBC on Calling all TNS thread. Excellent health to all.
