Even the coastal areas can be uncomfortably cool, although they have a bit less range than we do here.

Our fog is called Tule Fog (Don't ask), but it hangs over the ground and is the #1 cause of weather related traffic accidents in California.  It has been known to cause pile ups of over 100 vehicles.  When the fog starts it is like driving into a curtain, visibility can be fine one moment and zero the next.

Meece - Tule Fog sounds like it has the same effect on drivers as a haboob -  an intense sand/dustorm that affects visibility the same way. They cause a lot of problems here in the summer.

Suzette - It's crazy that it was only a few degrees warmer here in Phoenix today than in Michigan!

Meece, we have fog like that at times in the fall and spring, one time in January it caused a 100+ car pile up on the express way by my hometown.  It was so bad it made the national news (mainly because we don't usually have that kind of fog or those type of accidents).

Sue, I can't believe we were so warm at this time of year, we're rarely close to Phoenix temps.

Today we have temps in the 20s, wind chills in the teens, the "S" word and it's sticking, and black ice all the way to work!  There have been several accidents reported this morning.

We have that fog horribly in Decemebr which makes after work Christams shopping even more dangerous.

It's 35 right now but is expected to get to the low 60s later on.  Maybe once I get a bit more cleaning done inside, i'll go out and play in my greenhouse.

Hey, you have had your first cancerversary, that is one BIG-HUGE goal that you have achieved!

Congrats on the clear mammo!  Those around us who aren't survivors cannot understand the stress we go through during the mammo or awaiting the results.  I think I have heard "It will be fine" more times than I can count, and indeed I have been, but WE WORRY!

I had a border collie once.  Unfortunately, Chance wore out his welcome when he chased, and caught, all my baby chicks.  He was smart, but not smart enough to stop.

We don't see snow here very often, like once every ten years!

46 degrees right now, with heavy rain and strong wind expected this evening and overnight.  Can't decide if I need a sled or a boat!

You may need a sled by tomorrow NM, since our weather usually blows your way in a day or two.  We've had snow all day but thankfully no huge accumulation!

I just got back inside from about an hour of yardwork wearing jeans and a long sleeved tee.  Probably didn't need that much.  It is 91 in my greenhouse and about 60 in the shade.  Guess nobody told California that it was December already.

Juntom, you paint such a beautiful picture of Manchester in the snow. Suzette - not so pretty! Something about the words "black ice" makes me want to kiss the cactus in my front yard.

The rain stopped yesterday with warm temps but this morning we have temps in the 20's and the highs should be close to 50. They said these temps are more like mid January not early December. Although the ski resorts just north of me love these colder temps, it is cold enough to make snow with the snow guns.

After the weather guessers predicted "Flurries" with not much sticking, we ended up with almost 2 inches of snow and it is very cold.  27 with wind chills in the low to mid teens - brrrrrr.  I'm glad you had the rain and not the snow NM!  Enjoy your 50s Sheila and your 60s Meece.

The clouds are thinning out a lot and it looks like this afternoon may provide blue skies.  Much better for the mood.

Sherry, these swings from cold to pleasant sure make it difficult to plan on what to wear, don't they?

No kidding Meece, I grab a heavy coat when I leave the house and by lunch I don't need it anymore.  With the swings from low to high I just hope I don't get sick.

We didn't make it out of the 40's today, clouds started coming in and kept the sun from warming things up. Calling for another cold one tonight in the mid 20's and possibly getting to 50 tonight. Saturday calling for more cold temps and rain, what ever happened to Fall?
