CALLING ALL STAGE I SISTERS

When I expressed concern after my first surgeon hadn't obtained clear margins, my second surgeon downplayed my concerns and told me that one in five excisions have to be re-excised. Allenan, I hope your re-re-excision goes well. I decided to change surgeons because my first surgeon didn't think my mass was cancer and didn't try to obtain clear margins. Perhaps a second opinion?
jtphelen, I hope your SNB biopsy goes well. I think the main reason I've had a protracted recovery period from my re-excision/SNB is that my lump was in my axilla and so I've had a lot of cutting and tissue removal from that area.
Wishing for the best.

Tine: YOu are absolutely right. This will be the THIRD try. I had no problem with the second re-excision. I am particulary concern because I suggested that maybe I just need a mastectomy--not that I made that decision yet. My BS said, "Let's try again and see what happens" I know there are no guarantees, but anyone out there had to be re-excised TWO times. I would love to hear from you.
Thanks,
-
Allenan - So sorry you are having to go back for a third try. Unfortunately, I can't help you, I got clear margins the first time around. It sucks that this is happening to you and I hope you can get this over with quickly and move on to the next step. I'm sure someone else will chime in and share their story.
-
Allenan so sorry this is your third try. I am like Jo they got my clear margins the first time around. Hopefully someone can help you out here.
-
Allenan have you looked at starting a new topic for your question??? May under the Surgery forum? You would get alot more exposure...I had a BMX so I cannot offer any input

You ladies are so kind. You are telling me the baby is adorable and you don't even have too!
The picture of me isn't me at my best, only minutes before I had to hand him back to daddy and drive away. It is a long 11 hour drive between us.

Please pray for "Patch" and his family as they have been evacuated from their home and awaiting word on the fire. Can you imagine being a new mom (after a c-section no less) and having to live at someone else's home and your nest is in danger of going up in smoke?
-
Oh, how awful. I will keep them in my prayers, you can bet on that.

Thank you!

I called today for my lab results from the rad onc and my CA 2729 is 17 (normal if below 38) and my CEA is 1.2 (normal if below 3) so yeah me!!!
-
Had my 4 month MO appt today and it went great! Told my MO I am feeling fantastic these days - no breast or toe pains (thanks to amitriptyline) and I am so full of energy. He said based on what I told him I have "graduated" to every 6 months - so no more MO until Dec 19.
-
I saw my Oncologist also. Results of the BW should be in by Wednesday.
I asked him a copy of my previous Blood test I noticed my CA 27-29 reading dropped from 27 to 18. It was always 27 or 28.
Wednesday I have my mammogram. I don't have to wait for the results. It's diagnostic and get the answer before I leave.
He has a new nurse and I was pocked 5 times without any results then the DR did it. 3 from arms and 4 from the hand. I don't like her manners or her professional findings. She told me I had rolling veins meanwhile all these years nobody had any problems just my veins are tiny and they are not rolling.
Stupid nurse named Rebekka

Renee...I'm glad you got good news. Hugs
Jo...the same with you. Hugs
I love my sisters. I was MIA for a while because I was feeling very low and depressed.
Today is the first day I saw the light end of the tunnel. What a good feeling.
