CALLING ALL STAGE I SISTERS

hahah..me? in the mood to explain? OF COURSE...any opportunity to blab away my nerves...they are removing my tissue expanders and swapping them out with breast implants tomorrow morning. I have no frame of reference as I have never grown new boobs before! Apparently a two hour surgery....then the rocks in my chest are gone and I have these soft squishy new ones! Are you in NY? Wow- how far from NYC? I will be there at the end of the month for a pharma conference-flying in a day early 3/27 and will be there through the 31st-some of us have talked about maybe getting together..more the merrier...although even if only one shows up that will be ok...have a cup of coffee or even a damn glass of wine:) Oh, I can see it is gonna be a loooooooooooong night
-
Are you gonna stay in the hospital?
Annettek...I never go to the city that's why when they have getting togethers I don't go.
Too crowded and I can actually get lost or have a panic attack. Sorry. i wish i could meet you.
Now lets go back to the surgery. What time?
-
Welcome Tina (ha!) and I totally get you on the feeling that we have no right to complain when others have it so much harder.
CONGRATS xgolfer on your awesome test results and GOOD LUCK annettek with your surgery!
-
8am....k- i am gonna go eat ice cream before all my restrictions for no eating/drinking kick in!thanks for the kind thoughts
-
Good Night and Good Luck.
Eat anything you want.
Please post when you can.
♥
-
piece of ice cream cake annettek, piece of cake! Sending warm wishes & power prayer your way!
-
annette ~ I will be thinking of you tomorrow. Please post when you can to let us know how you are feeling.
onestep ~ So nice to see you again!
xgolfer ~ Great news on the clear mamm. YAY!
{{hugs Sheila}}
-
Hi ajtina....I tried to find answers to your questions on the new thread but I wasn't able to.
Could it be that its a healing process like the skin changing colors until it heals?
♥
-
Val...We were posting the same time.
You are up late like me.
how is everything sister/friend♥
-
Sheila ~ I thought I was doing pretty good since I've returned, but not so sure.......still kinda in the dumps.....
Maybe I need spring to arrive so I can get outside among the new growth.
Hugs
-
I think we could all do with a good dose of spring!!!!
-
Thanks Sheila! I appreciate your response (although no idea why you couldn't post to the thread)! I have no idea if it's part of normal healing. The NP wasn't very informative. I sent her pictures and her response was something along the lines of "sometimes happens; may be permanent"! It just looks like a really unhealty color (nipple and breast) of yellowy brown and I'd love to know if it's normal (and ideally be reassured it will go back to normal lol). 'Net searching hasn't been helpful.
Perhaps it's related to some level of internal bleeding from the surgery along with swelling (although the Rad Onc said my swelling is less than what he would expect so soon after surgery). I'll probably email the BS if it continues; just wondered if anyone else has had this type of issue...
-
I have no first hand experience with your issue, ajtina, but perhaps it is bruising and healing. I would think this is a BS issue and would definitely contact him if you don't see any improvement in a few days.
-
Thanks Meece; appreciate your input! Just odd that it's hit the nipple area when my surgery was at the chest wall and I've not had it at an angle that should pull the blood that way! Crossing fingers!
-
ajtina: One of my biopsies in December was a mid-breast core biopsy. My nipple was OK right after the biopsy, but started turned all sorts of odd colors about 5 days later, very strange looking. It took quite a while to clear up, but it did. Hopefully, yours is also bruising that will eventually improve. Thinking good thoughts!
-
all went well....I will post more after get some sleep...the *twins* were a boy and girl (thanks to alloderm-could have been some male tissue in there!) ..so I am taking Ike and Tina to sleep right now:) thank you so much for all the love and positive thinking...hope everyone is finding the sunshine and spring today...
-
annettek: congrats on a successful exchange and the arrival of your new twins! So glad everything went well!
xgolfer: Hurray!!!!
-
I've been catching up and a few pages back and there was some discussion about survivor guilt, which can be a tricky thing.
As someone who has had a "good" diagnosis and a "not-so-good" diagnosis, let me say that ALL CANCER SUCKS and there is no "easy" cancer. The actual path we are on is different for everyone, but the emotional roller coaster is the same, as well as dealing with the medical system, side effects, uncertainty, research information that isn't always clear and so much more. Our fears are real and all our feelings are valid and don't let anyone, even yourself, tell you otherwise. And then there's the pressure to stay positive because we're lucky. Well, if I was that lucky then I wouldn't have gotten cancer at all!
I'm so glad we have this place to be together whether we need to vent or laugh or celebrate. Sister power!
-
Tryin to catch up is not an easy task..im tryin to figure all this out
first huggs Valjean---always nice to see you
cancer is cancer.and it sure does suk.someone posted something that says early stage cancer.your always waiting for the other shoe to drop.sooo true.i went from stage 1 to stage 1 to stage2 from an ammended path report.
-
TinaT: Thanks for the wisdom of your experience! I hope you're right! This is soooo not an attractive shade of yellow-brown!
Annettek: Congrats on the twins!! LOL@ Ike and Tina!
Ahem...AMEN Teal3Pink1!
-
Annettek...so glad you are home.
granny.....You are absolutely right.

(((Hugs To Everyone)))♥

Heading to sunny so cal today for my onc appt. Dh is not going with me so I am going solo. I have no issues driving by myself, but DH always goes with me so it's going to feel wierd. It seems a shame to drive that distance and have no plans on anything to do other than the appointment!
-
Meece - What happened to the picture? I can't see it.
-
I was blank once I posted, so I took it out. Here's a similar one.
-
Monday is our local Relay for Life Survivor dinner. This will be by first one to attend and I am feeling a little weird about going. Don't really know why but just feeling weird about it and I know several people that will be there.
-
you are so right teal..I think I would have just melted into a puddle without this board...which is no smll thing for a smartyasspants like me to admit. And I am proud to say I need you all. I cannot do it alone.
Meece- go on a discovery of your own while in So Cal....find a cool little cafe or cute weird shop and treat yourself with a Meece prize-never has to cost very much and is always fun to discover what the prize is. I am set to go to NYC this month for annual conference and am letting my mind swarm on what I might find this year on my long treks through the city on a discovery hunt. How funny, in 7 years and 7 trips I have yet to see Broadway show...too busy finding *stuff* -which could be everything from a cool looking brownstone or having a cup of coffee in SoHo and seeing some actor from Law and Order who is peeved because he can see me squinting at him and realizing he is indeed "somebody" but not somebody well known enough for me to know who he is. How much fun that is! People reading:)
Sherry- I am with you on that. Not sure why but I am. If it feels too weird then do not go....you can celebrate your surviving any darn way you please. I get a little hinked out about some things and am learning to listen to those feelings.

Hello Ladies:
A couple of days ago I saw my radiation oncologist and a couple of weeks ago I saw my medical oncologist and brought to both of their attentions the problem that I have been having for the past months with my shoulder/arm (frozen shoulder and limited reach of motion - not being able to reach my arm over my head). Both of them said they do not believe it to be because of radiation therapy. So now I am stumped.... hmmm I do not understand how my arm came to be this way. As I had mentioned before, I first noticed tightness in reach of motion of my arm in September and that is exactly 1 year after surgery and 6 months after radiation therapy. (by November it was allot worse and more so now) grrrr It is really frustrating not being able to do much with limited use of this arm....
So thought I would update you all.
Charmaine
