Oh girls!  You are NOT helping my diet.  I love ALL chocolate & we are being bomarded with it right now with Halloween!  One of my favorrites I haven't seen any of you mention is Ghiradelli's.  I especially love them & they come ine the perfect size!  That chocolate tateing sounds wonderful!  I will have to try it!  Pam - good luck at NOLA!  Keep us posted!

Ooooo, I'll take one of each. Bought an assortment of full size chocolate bars for the Trick or Treaters and have already eaten every one. Tried putting them in the freezer to stop myself and they tasted even better. And then there's Teuscher's, hand made Swiss chocolate;if you like Godiva, you've got to try these !  There's a store a block from rads and I'll buy a few chocolate covered oranges and florentines a couple of times a week. I"M OUT OF CONTROL !

PS Has anyone else seen the Nutella tv commercial ? They're now advertising it as a way to get kids to EAT HEALTHY ! Now, I love, love , love the stuff but one look at the label and fat content and well, healthy it aint. But tasty, yes !

Dark chocolate in moderation is good for you of course - moderation will be even better.

Dove dark or sweet, anything creamy and room temp. God help me now.

My dh Loves Oct. because he begins buying halloween candy by the sackful and eats it so he has to go get more.  Of course, I Never indulge----Ha.  I found the hidiing place last night and took one---just one, but boy are they calling to me now!!!

I never understood Nutella! Why would I want a chocolate spread on BREAD? It's like that marshmallow stuff...you don't put it on BREAD! You eat it out of the jar with a spoon like a lady!

barbe1958 - Just had a Eureka moment! As as kid (long time ago) I made my Mother make me Fluff sandwiches; wouldn't go near Fluffernutters (peanut butter and Fluff). Probably explains why I like Nutella now. Then there's what I think of as the Latin American equivalent - Dulce de Leche on toast. ....On No, now I'm thinking about all those lovely things.... It's 5:30 am and I'm gonna have just a little sliver of Sacher Torte

Oh how I remember chocolate, dark, milk, orange flavored, but not marzipan.   It has to be 30 years ago - I had very itchy eyes and runny nose and was sent to the allergy doctor.   The very first set of tests produced a really good "reaction" to ...... Chocolate.  Dang, darn, *$&% -- I had 2 chocolate donuts with chocolate frosting and cocoa for breakfast before I got there.   So, that became the end of chocolate for me.  I did take one swipe from a cake with decadent chocolate frosting - maybe a month or two after being declared allergic, and it almost turned my stomach inside out.  

Everyone have a piece or two, a scoop or two, for me.  I have threatened to auction off "my" share at parties and get togethers.   Enjoy and have a super duper chocolate tasting pah tee.

Oh my goodness lefty how awful for you! I have a bad allergy to nuts and always say "At least it's not chocolate". I don't know how you do it.

thanks leah, I am also allergic to strawberries.  But I assure you that there is plenty out there to put the weight on - just slap a twinkie on each thigh and  I am in heaven !!!

This topic certainly got everyone's attention.  First, let me say that I am a diabetic.  Second, it doesn't stop me from eating chocolate.  I am a chocoholic.  If it is anywhere in the house, it keeps calling my name ... Kathleen, I'm in the pantry - come get me!"

That aside, I love Lindt - its like a little party going on in your mouth.  Hershey's bars are great - they are the only thing I can remember from my childhood that tastes exactly the same.  I had forgotton about the "ice cubes."  Those things start melting the minute they hit your mouth - another party.  Actually, I don't discriminate with chocolate - whatever you have is fine with me.

The very best chocolate I ever had was dark chocolate with hazelnuts made by some Benedictine Monks in Norcia, Italy. They don't ship it because of the melt factor, and I will probably never be in Norcia again, much less Italy.

Weird thing -- the one change in myself that I notice since I have been through cancer treatment is not anything deep or spiritual, it's that I really like chocolate now (before I was more of a lemon person). But now, dark chocolate, yum. Still trying to find a favorite "everyday" brand.

Just raided a Halloween basket my daughter got at work and mistakenly left on the coffee table - a little packet of Hershey's Kisses hit the spot!

Regarding finding the Aero bars...if your supermarket has a "foreign food" aisle, take a walk down there and see if they have an "Irish Foods" section. For some reason, that's where I found them in my store. My kids loved them, but they were pricier than regular Hershey's. I found them interesting for the bubble factor, but not really satisfying in a chocolate sense.

lucky for me (or maybe NOT!) my favorite is plain hershey's milk chocolate, bar or kiss. I also like m&ms. There is a local chocolate store, the chocolate gecko which makes a divine shortbread dipped in chocolate.

We just finished watching a show on the History Channel on ... wait for it ... "Chocolate Education"!  It told how cacao (a.k.a. cocoa) beans are harvested and processed (by hand, even today), and how the major chocolate companies do what they do.

My regret was that I walked right past the snack isle at the grocery store this afternoon, even though I was craving some smooth, creamy chocolate candies.

Gotta do better next time.  Think about it -- the dark stuff is even good for us!

For any other chocolate history buffs, I recommend "The Emperors of Chocolate" which tells the story of the Mars vs Hershey rivalry. Very intersting reading about the period of American corporation growth in the twentieth century.

M - I don't think they're still in business, but since they're in a part of town I seldom pass through and my kids are grown, they're kind of off my radar.

My solution to leftover Halloween candy...bring it to work. There is a candy bowl on the other side of my floor that gets visited by everyone in the company. It always needs restocking. The candy is gone in less than a day, lol.
