Here's my POUND class. So much fun!
-
Thanks Wonder. Not pushing myself and stressing out over it. Taking it gradually as my BS suggested. I must be one of the ones not playing Pokemon Go.
-
4.25 mi bike ride to mysunshine to check in on/feed "Happy" her cat. Then 1.25 mile walk with my sister's 5yo GD. Still no car so not much else doing today though I can/will check the nearby Rec center for activities.
Later sculpted friends.

Hello ladies! I have so much to catch up on, as I have been out of the loop for a bit. I did Zumba and walked today. Next week is the end of my summer vacation. It will be difficult getting back into the grind. Hope everyone is doing well
-
ruthbru, where are you in the pound class photo?
planb58, how are you doing on tamoxifen? I've been on a month and i have to say i feel great. I'm wondering if exercise is really making a difference? I have a few night sweats and the occasional ' warm episode ' during the day but nothing too bad at all so far. I know it's early days. I wonder if i had been doing this much exercise would the a i symptoms have been more bearable?
brisk walk UPHILL for 35 mins.
-
grainne I am doing pretty good on the tamoxifen. No suggestion of the AIs for me even though post menopausal I think probably due to osteopenia and some arthritis. Tamo supposed to be easier on joints. Have only been on a week so early days. I have my first UTI in a couple of years so fairly miserable with that! I'm thinking resistance is still down from all the fun that BC brings us. I do believe exercise helps with everything!
30 minute walk today
-
Exercise helps with everything! Grainne, I am wearing the red shorts & black shirt in the photo.
-
Exercise helps with less weight gain, better mobility, easier healing, better outcome post-surgery and, most importantly, better emotional balance to get through it all. Exercise is key.
Night sculpted friends.

Wish I'd discovered how much I love to exercise when I was younger but am so glad I did find out how good it makes me feel, and best thing ever is the friends that I have made through it, IRL and here online.
Last night did Body Combat and tonight did Body Pump, as I was putting away my equipment tonight after class the guy who was behind me who I'd never seen before whispered to me 'you did amazing' now that put a smile on my face. -
I wish we could all exercise together!
-
Heidihill, what a fantastic idea! I'd be the red faced bewildered one panting at the back!
Just back from a 45 min walk. It is a really beautiful evening, sunny and breezy. I walked along a deserted country road, up a steep hill bordered by a forest, through a quiet graveyard where my father and parents in law are buried and back home via a narrow path beside a river. Immensely enjoyable. How are you all doing?
-
Heidi, I wish we could also exercise together, like Ruth's Wednesday walkers. Alas., we will have to motivate each other via posts.
Ruth, PokemonGo may have been involved in my trip. The sidewalk section was a bit risen there and I swear I saw it but my sandal still caught it so potentially my brain cannot concentrate on the adjusting height of a sidewalk and where those two Jynx may be at the same time.
Just did a 15 minute walk today. Off and on light rain and sinus headache kept me indoors.
-
hi all, this political junkie has been MIA here but will get back on track tomorrow morning.
grainne, I've done one of Cheryl's classes and indeed was red-faced and panting but felt great afterwards.
Ruth, say hey to your football fan friend in WWW. The 2016 preseason kicks off on Sunday, Aug. 7 in Canton, Ohio, when the Green Bay Packers face the Indianapolis Colts in the Hall of Fame Game.
-
Heidi come to San Antonio I have found a gym that has Body Jam 4 nights a week so you know where I'll be headed at least one night. Grainne there is no faking it with me, when I exercise I end up really red faced. Badger you were a super sport coming to my classes, and it's funny because this dropped yesterday https://youtu.be/H0C2Z7FDwJ8 do you recognize the girl? It's Jericho who was our Body Jam instructor, she left Les Mills and went to Beachbody and this is the program she's launching with her workout partner Joel, so happy for her she's a great girl. Hey Annie great to see you, missing Jazzy.
Tonight did Zumba, Ireally really wish this heat would break
-
hbcheryl just thinking about your remark that you wish you had discovered how much you love to exercise when you were younger. I wonder if any of us were keen? I was certainly one of the girls lurking on the edge of the netball pitch hoping noone would throw me the ball. how do we persuade our daughters it's a good idea? Reading up on bc and cancer generally i can't believe how ignorant i was about how critical it is for continuing good health. How do we get that message to our young women? Forget about looking good...concentrate on feeling good.
-
Cheryl, Jericho looks great! Is she your instructor friend who just had a baby?
This is a great video from Toronto doc Mike Evans about exercise as a "magic pill":

45 min walk this morning.

Here are two pix from our 2014 Sculpted Sisters trip to California.
This one is before class: _Ann_, me, Eduardo, ruthbru, sweet&special, and hbcheryl (in front).
This one is after class: hbcheryl, ruthbru, _Ann_, me, and Eduardo.
(Edit to use screen names so these pix will match the one Ruth posted below.)

Thanks for posting those pictures, badger. I was just about to dig mine up. How could one not want to exercise with a guy named Eduardo leading you on!
I don't think it helps to lecture anyone about the importance of exercise (although it's always good to invite them to come along). It's when they see the results; a happier, healthy, more vibrant, energetic you.....that's when it will hopefully click. I once read a quote (and it could be about anything), that said "example isn't the most important thing, it's the only thing". So I think the best way to encourage someone else is to go out and do it yourself.
No exercise for me yesterday because after PT I was invited by a friend who lives about an hour away to come down and spend the day with her. She has this AMAZING garden with several gazebos, vines growing all over, art pieces cleverly displayed amongst the flowers etc. etc. (wonderful to look at, but I would not want to be doing all the work that it takes to maintain it!). So that was my day. After I close down here, I am either going to go ride a bike at the Y or try a walk & see what happens.
-
And Ruth, you all went to another class that evening but I was too pooped and stayed back to rest.
-
LOL.....that is probably why I have tendinitis and you don't......you have a little more sense than me. Here is a picture from our last year's trip to Southern California. We're ready to take a hike on a 'nice flat trail' (aka Mountain Climbing! )
Patoo, hbcheryl, badger, & me in the front, sweetandspecial & _Ann_ in the rear.
-
Thanks for finding this pic Ruth. I was going to ask if was 2015.
yes, it was supposed to be a "nice flat trail" but we climbed high above the city.
-
I'm so envious of all the fun you are having together!! This is such an upbeat thread: you are really all keeping me motivated.
-
It was a beautiful day today. A little cloudy occasionally but 76 degrees. It feels so fresh after that heat wave. I mowed my lawn and weeded for 45 minutes. Like Wonderland , we hadn't mowed in three weeks with all that heat. Then my hubby and I went for a 40 minute walk.
-
Nice morning for a 45-min walk.
-
TwoHobbies, 76 IS a heatwave!!
-
grainne, it's all relative. It's been in the 90's for weeks, with high humidity and a heat index in the 100's.
(edit to add that TH and I live in neighboring states so we share similar weather. Ruth in ND is northwest of me in WI. We usually get what she's having, a day or two later.)

Ooooooo Eduardo, I still love him, what's not to love eh. Badger Jerichos 'baby' just celebrated his 1st birthday, time just flies by. OMG Ruth I will never forget that day, you Ann and Badger striding out front me huffing and puffing up the rear trying to keep up with Sweet and Patoo nice easy walk my foot, up and down those blasted hills in the scorching heat - when I go down to San Diego to do Bady Jam I drive along the 78 and look up at that mountain and it's a mountain not a hill and I always curse Ann, btw I hope to see her today as I am just about to drive down to the San Diego BCO lunch.
Grainne I am built square and have short arms so I was always picked last for sports at school as I wasn't that good so it was disheartening as a kid. I really "heard" my oncologist when she told me the best thing I could do for myself was to exercise every day and I think we have to try different things to find what we like, classes are scary the first time but that's where I found my niche and then I had wonderful instructors who encouraged me and taught me that I could do many different things, and I found I love to dance and I'll tell you my first time on a spin bike story one day. TH our weather finally broke yesterday too it's in the 80s, thank goodness as I have been avoiding the beach as the US Open surfing is going on and it's always crazy down there although this year lots more security but still big crowds.
This morning did Body Pump.

NkmLost my post, so going to try again. I'm in the Dead Sea region at a Nature Preserve called Ein Gedi. It is about 1 hour or so south of Jerusalem. Went for a hike this afternoon. It was an easy trail filled with lots of waterfalls to cool off in. I put my swimsuit on with a t-shirt and cotton Jerry skirt. Wore sandals that can get wet. Had fun getting wet to cool off. It's 9:30pm and the temp is in the mid 80's. After midnight the temp will start rising into the 90's. High tomorrow is predicted to be 108!! I want to do another hike in the morning, so will head out early. The nature preserve doesn't open till 8 so will go then for a couple hours. Debating if I want to go the Dead Sea. Had planned on staying down here till late afternoon but will head back up to Jerusalem mid afternoon. I'm staying in a hostel. The room is basic but has a/c. I'm so tired I'm falling asleep sitting. Going to try to stay up for another hour so I don't wake up at 4 am

girls, lots of interesting posts and i have lots of questions esp re geography /weather. However, eldest daughter home from tanzania, no exercise whatsoever and far too many glasses of champagne. I feel very happy tonight.
