So neat about the kitten, Wonderland! We babysat animals most of the week; but they were dogs. The wife of a couple friend was in the hospital from early Monday morning until Wednesday so we ran over; let the dogs out, played with them, took them on car rides, fed them, etc. during the day (the husband came home at night to sleep). Wednesday night & most of Thursday we babysit DS & fiance's 3 dogs because they were out of town. Today I went to yoga & did another Dog Hike.
-
Hope your friend is doing okay. Sounds like you have had your hands full with dogs!
I push mowed for an hour today. It was hot but dew point was in the low 50s. Amazing! Dh finished the rest of the yard.
-
It's all about the dew point!
My friend had a artery going into her heart that was 95% blocked. Amazingly they put a stent in through her wrist on Monday & she was home on Wednesday. She has to go to rehab but has very few restrictions otherwise.
-
Oh my goodness! I bet your friend is feeling better every day.
It would have been a good day for a walk instead I took a nap. lol Had a hard time falling asleep last night. This afternoon I was productive. Made tomato soup and 3 loaves of zucchini chocolate chip bread. I have tried freezing the soup before but it doesn't freeze well. So I enjoy it while it's fresh.
-
Wonder the zucchini chocolate chip bread sounds yummy. I made blueberry muffins on Friday.
Not sure what I accomplished today. My summer vacation has come to an end and I guess I'm sad about it. Once I'm back to work tomorrow, I'll be okay.
Weather is cooling off to the 80s more normal for this time of year. I'm done with the 90s.
Will try to post pictures from trip with my phone. For some reason, it never works on my computer.

Beautiful, Karen!
Walked & did a short Pilates DVD.
-
Thanks Ruth.
Good-bye summer break, hello 22-23 sy. Won't be getting as many steps as I did over the summer. Hoping for at least 12K but would love to reach 15K.
Have a great Monday
-
Good luck with the school year, Karen!
Went to Dance2fit this morning (the instructor is a school teacher so this is her last morning exercise class for the summer as school starts here next week), Pound this evening, and ran around doing errands the entire day in-between the two and did some baking tonight, so it was a busy day.
-
Great pictures, Karen! The water looks so refreshing. May you have a fabulous school year!
This afternoon we went back to Auntie's house to continue going through things. We've gotten through the easy part. Now we have to decide what to keep, what else to give away, and what to try to sell. Found a combination salt and pepper shaker that sells on the internet between $140 and $240 or so. And she had 2 of them! That's the kind of things we definitely will not be giving away.
No formal exercise today.
-
Barre Sculpt & Zumba today.
-
Walked/ran this morning. Enjoying the cooler weather for now.
-
Day two done - one boring 2 hour training and one great 1.75 hour training. Both on zoom. This morning 4 hour SW/SP department meeting. It is zoom. My manager had hoped it would be in person, but she could not find a space, but next month in person. Zoom is so much harder.
Yesterday afternoon we had a funeral for a friend's son. It was soooo hard. He would have turned 44 in 2 weeks. I can't even fathom the pain the parents are in.
We've had rain for the past couple days - well needed. I think it is gone for the next couple days then will be back.
Have a great Wednesday.
-
I am so sorry about your friend's son, Karen. Our local community just lost two wonderful young women to illness. Both of whom had so much left to give to the world. Beyond tragic.
We need a little rain; it has been dry, dry, dry.
The Wednesday Walking Women
-
Took a nice hike today & two classes. We are out of town all weekend so no exercise ahead other than a little walking.
-
Karen: I'm so sorry to hear about your friend's son. I'm sure your friend was grateful you were at the funeral.
Ruth: Have a fun weekend!
Walked/ran yesterday. This afternoon I picked these ornamental gourds that have been growing between the house and driveway. I haven't counted them but my guess is 80 or more are in the baskets. Plus there are 30 additional ones still growing. Plan to use them as table decorations for dd's wedding. These gourds are from 2 tiny volunteer plants that grew and grew this spring! They grew in the same area last year along with a volunteer pumpkin plant. Only had 40 gourds then. These all came from a few gourds I bought 4 years ago. They eventually ended in the compost. We used the compost and Voila! we have gourds everywhere!
-
I washed and counted the gourds. 102 of them. 30+ still in the yard. They will add a nice fall touch along with the flowers at the wedding.
I have 2 more weeks of kitty sitting my friend's little blind kitten. She loves to play and run all over the room, climb on the couch and her scratching pole. She doesn't like me to hold her and I think that's a good thing. She doesn't need to bond with me. I have little scratches and teeth marks all over my hands and arms when I do hold her.
Walked this morning with a friend. Afterwards we sat and talked for an hour or so.
-
That's a lot of gourds, Wonderland! We had a fun weekend at a resort in Minnesota with our friends. I walked for awhile when we got there Friday & with my friend yesterday morning. I did a 45 minute toning DVD when I got home this afternoon.
-
Today was the first day of workshops for teachers. We have quite a few retired teachers in my morning exercise classes, so my fitness center had a 'No School For Us Dance Party!'. Very fun! (6 of us in the picture are retired teachers.)
-
Glad you have a fun weekend, Ruth.
I walked this morning. 71 degrees but dew point was also 71. Not refreshing to say the least.
(I dislike how BCO is now. So many people have left. I enjoy coming here at the end of the day. Miss all those who aren't here anymore.)
-
Me too, Wonderland!
Dog walk, Barre Sculpt & Zumba today.
-
The little blind kitten I'm babysitting is so cute! She knows our den well. Likes to climb all over me. My male cat Salem just had to meet her. I wasn't going to let them meet but he couldn't take it any longer. They don't play long before Salem leaves the room. He is very gentle with her, considering that she climbs and bites all over him.
Walked/kinda ran this evening.
-
It's surprising how nicely some bigger animals play with the little ones. Bruno is very good with puppies, which is a great relief to me!
My Wednesday Walking group celebrated its 10th Anniversary (I came in on year two). We walked in the park where the Founders took their first walk, ate cake, and drank sparkling cider!
-
Fabulous picture, Ruth! I remember when you joined the group. How wonderful that it's still strong after all these years!
Pushed mowed today for 90 minutes. About 30 minutes at a time with lonnngggg breaks inbetween. My hair is soaked! Dh finished the yard.
Here is a picture of Iris Ann. She loves the sun. Turns her face towards it and slow paws the air as if trying to feel it with her paw. She is precious.
-
Such a sweetheart. You will have a hard time giving her back, Wonderland.
Pound in a few minutes, Dance2fit tonight. I have to clean my house & tackle a pile of correspondence & bills in between the classes & track down DS to fix a technical problem on my phone!
-
I've had the kitten for 2 weeks now and 1 more week to go. I had to go to the doctor today to get an antibiotic bc the scratches and bites were not healing on the arm on my mx side. I'm left handed and my mx was my left breast. Also had a ton of lymph nodes removed. My forearm looks bad but the antibiotic should clear it up. I've never had visual LE swelling but I've experienced heaviness, soreness, etc many times on that side. Always do what I've learned on this site to help alleviate the symptoms.
I still love little Iris Ann. She's just a kitten.
-
Wonder - glad you got the antibiotics
Today is my "Friday" at work. Finished week 1 with students. I have a few challenging kiddos. It will be a fun few months while finishing this FMLA. The school is great and I will miss it come November when I'm done.
Have a great evening
-
Also glad you got those antibiotics, Wonderland!
