Let's Post our Daily Exercise

Gorgeous weather this morning for a run, so I got in nearly 6 miles. The air quality stinks though; between the high grass pollen and smoke from someone burning a lot of something, my lungs hurt.
-
I have quite a few things going on the rest of the week, so 'exercised ahead' by taking three classes today; Zumba, Barre Sculpt, and Yoga.
-
We had a big Walking Women group this Wednesday! Instead of exercise class tonight, I will be at Dog Obedience School!
-
I did my weights today at home, and will do 9 holes of golf tomorrow. I'm working a bit more at home, so on those days, I'm adding a sort of "move" routine midday where I spend about 10 minutes doing some jumping jacks, arm circles, etc. and throw in maybe 5-10 minutes of weights. This is because it's just too darn hot and humid out to walk, and seems to work better for me. I'm getting more serious about thinking of rejoining a gym.
-
I hobbled around the park.
Keep moving!
-
MKestrel that's beautiful. And I think this is your first time posting in this thread, if so then welcome!
Yesterday was a session with my trainer. Today is supposed to be a rest day but I'm feeling twitchy so I may squeeze in a walk between thunderstorms. Hope to run tomorrow, weather permitting.
-
@MKestrel, that picture is gorgeous!
My little dog had oral surgery yesterday and is tired and loopy, so we only did .4km this morning, and she was ready to come back in! I'll try to get more in later.
-
Yeah new to this, hi all
Today was first attempted return to disc golf! My throwing is awkward and way over par, but that is not a new issue lol
I am recovering from back surgery corpectomy and fusion because of mets to the spine. I was numb from my toes to my ribs and lost a lot of motor control of my legs. It has taken months to just walk almost normal. My forefeet are still sort of numb and my legs have slow internet, but it's a lot better than before.
-
Mkestrel, great pic! Welcome and hope your internet speeds up soon.
It was cooler today so I ventured into the gym. Renewed for 3 months. I'm not that confident they won't close down in the fall again. It felt really good: 25 minutes running on the treadmill, then pushing and pulling on various machines and some stretching in the end.
-
Welcome, MK!
Went to Pound this morning and will do Barre later. We had an interesting Doggie Obedience session last night. Along with doing group and private lessons, the teacher trains guide dogs. We will be doing home after lunch! Here's Bruno and the other student in our private class. Our next door neighbor (and his girlfriend) Ivy.
-
Awww, Ruth, it's like Lady and the Tramp but with a stick instead of spaghetti.
Welcome MKestrel!
Walked yesterday morning and again today. Got great news yesterday: a job offer - part time as I wanted, helping the state spend a boatload of federal stimulus money. I will work from home, no need to commute. I start next month and will work half-time for a year.
-
Sounds like a perfect fit, Badger!
-
Welcome MKestrel.
I've been MIA as I was working on 2 special education cases for work since June 6th and finally today was the last meeting. I put in just over 100 hours since June 6th. Lots of comp time for next school year. This week wasn't so bad, but the previous 2 weeks were all consuming!!
DD#1 surprised us with a visit. She arrived this morning and is her till Tuesday afternoon. We knew she was coming since Sunday. It's 20 months since we last saw each other. She left her husband at home!
Submitted our paperwork to the consulate to visit younger daughter next month, but even if we get permission we might cancel as Covid Delta cases are on the rise in the past 4 days and quarantine restrictions are getting stricter. Hoping over the next couple weeks, things will settle down and cases decrease. Not spending all that money to be quarantine half the trip - and they are very strict about it - in your room and no one else allowed near you - food brought to your room door etc. Oh well, it is disappointing, but that's life during a pandemic.
-
I hope you can finally have some summer relaxation, Karen! Enjoy DD's visit!! Traveling internationally is still dicey at the moment (my friend hasn't seen her daughter who lives in Australia for two years so could commiserate with you!).
My Barre class was canceled so I have to decide if I want to go to Yoga instead (I should, but it's later in the evening and I'm feeling kind of lazy).
-
Ruth, one word I would never ever use to describe you is lazy.
Got in three and a half mile run today--it's incredibly muggy here and I was lucky to fit in any run between all the thunderstorms.
-
It was raining this morning then turned muggy (dew point is 75 yikes) so did 30 mins on the dreadmill.
-
It's been raining since about 4:00 or 4:30 this afternoon and doesn't look like it is stopping any time soon. Took my daughter bra shopping and it started to rain a block before I got home. Thankfully I grilled the chicken thighs this morning.
Cool week-end - 70s with rain, but I'm not complaining.
-
badger: Congratulations on your new job. It has your name written all over it! So happy for you.
Ruth: Bruno and his gf are precious!
Welcome MKestrel!
saltmarsh: Hope your dog is feeling better today.
edj: Always love to read about your activity!
Karen: I was wondering where you've been. Enjoy your dd's visit!
LB: Where are you?????
Hi Everyone! Been walking/running. It's been so dry here that we haven't had to mow much. As a matter of fact, we have only mowed 2 times this month. We need rain!
I had some old rocks that needed to be painted so I did.
-
Didn’t do much today except for a few light chores. After dealing with tendonitis in my right leg for the last two weeks, the pain finally died and I was able to get some decent exercise yesterday when I mowed the lawn.
-
Hi Wonderland, I like your rock paintings.
I walked around the park and played more disc golf.
-
Wonderland is our resident artist!
Bruno and I did our 15 minute 'homework' training walk this morning (after-which we went to the Dog Park so he could run wild). I worked in the yard most of the afternoon. It was raining (yea) this evening. I was going to get on the treadmill but it made a screeching sound and quit. I didn't have time to mess with it so did an indoor walking DVD instead. Tomorrow I will do an early morning Zumba class & then head south for an hour to go to the 45th Wedding Anniversary of an old friend & her DH.
-
Wonderland, your painted rocks are beautiful. There is so much detail in your work. You are so very talented.
-
Wonderland, so pretty! You have a good eye for color and form.
It was sprinkling when I woke up but it stopped long enough to get in a 30-minute walk. It's been raining on & off all day. No complaints, we are still in a rain deficit and can use the moisture.
-
I am new here, diagnosed with DCIS last month. Preparing for double mastectomy in about a month. Every surgery I have ever had the doc always had recommendations for specific exercises before so recovery would be easier. Are there any sites where I could see pilates or yoga in prep for breast surgery?
Initially, I thought I would reconstruct, now I am really leaning toward going flat. I have been pretty flat all my life, wouldn't know how to act if I had to wear a bra all the time. Thoughts?
-
Imhere - welcome - sorry that you have to join this club but glad you found the group.
Enjoying having DD#1 here. Visit to DD#2 is probably not going to happen as Covid Delta cases are increasing and they are getting stricter and stricter. We will wait another week or so to see what happens before we cancel, but as of now its not likely as if anyone on our flight tests positive for Covid upon landing the whole flight has to quarantine for 10 days - no reason to spend all that money to sit in an Airbnb, not being able to go anywhere and not really getting to see our daughter. Unless, I take time off from school around the holidays, which is tough to miss two weeks and it is high price season, it will be winter break. Sad and disappointed but know that it is best. Third trip that we are missing.
Nice weather today - blue sky and about 70 - think we are done the rain after 2 days - good rain though as it was slow and steady - great for the trees and plants. Edit - we had a huge downpour for about an hour around 4pm
Have a great Sunday
-
Oh, goodness, people! I go offline for two nights and I miss all of this!
Badger, congrats on the job and thank you for making me chuckle. I guess we feel roughly the same about treadmills...
Ruth, I second Edj3 -- I can't imagine anyone accusing you of laziness!
Wonderland, those are beautiful!
Imhere, welcome. Sorry you have to be here but welcome! I don't know about exercises for beforehand -- many docs don't even prescribe PT for afterwards. I'm doing it and it's really helping, so I find that pretty puzzling.
As for me, I tried to go camping with my DH and DS at the ocean this weekend. It started out great and we had friends staying at three sites near ours, so that was fun. Unfortunately, through a set of snafus (a half-full, but suddenly broken sunblock canister that wouldn't work, a beach cabana with a pole someone broke and packed back up without mentioning they'd broken it, and failure to secure more sunblock in time), after less than two hours at the beach, most of which I was in the shade and wearing SPF50 clothing for, I've got a really bad burn. I 'd have stuck it out and just stayed in the shade, but then my son's only friend on the trip had to leave early because his mom hurt her shoulder and couldn't imagine sleeping on the ground with it like that. So we headed home, my kid, the dog and I, and let my DH have a night with jsut adults and doing his own thing, which he loves anyway.
So, on the up-side, I got in a couple lovely walks at the beach with people! On the down-side, not only did I not get nearly as much exercise as anticipated this weekend, but I'm gonna be sidelined for a few days because it hurts to move. I have just dropped what feels like a small fortune on a couple pairs of sun pants and sun shirts in order to try to stay safe for the rest of summer.
Don't be like me! Stay safe out there!
-
My exercise for today was putting away some laundry and giving my hubby a hair cut. Too stinking hot and humid to do anything else.
-
Hi Imhere, I don't know about any specific exercises, but the fitter you are going into any surgery the better. Being in shape should help with a quicker & smoother recovery, plus you have a good base to build back up from once restrictions are lifted. Ask if your surgeon has a list of post-surgery exercises for you and/or see if you can hook up with a physical therapist who can guide you. This link is very old, but may be helpful. http://www.cancer.org/Cancer/BreastCancer/MoreInformation/exercises-after-breast-surgery
Several dog walks, Barre Sculpt & Yoga for me today.
-
Exercise for today is finish the laundry.
-
Wonderland, your rocks ROCK! Badger, congrats on the new job! Karen, enjoy DD1's visit! Imhere, never had to wear a bra in my life before BC. Didn't do reconstruction but was not too fond of the asymmetry so started wearing a prosthetic bra after a while. With a double mastectomy, you'd be able to get away with no bra! Lilacblue, where are you?
Went on a hike with the dog who was very useful pulling me uphill. So instead of 3 hours we made it in 2 hours. I'm just a lazy bum, needing electric- on bikes or dog-powered assistance on hikes. What's more I did a 24 hour fast in the midst of all that. I am hoping I got some serious senescent cell killing done.
