HI To everyone as well.
I am also at 4 1/2 years now and just went through a recent scare but all turned out to be NORMAL once again. It sure is good to be amongst good company with all of these HER2 survivors.

Count me in! 10 years this month. I don't hang around the board often, but drop by once in a while to post. A lot has happened in 10 years, aside from the life we all know. My sister had babies (twins) born, a baby die, and then a fourth child (healthy), my Father was diagnosed with prostate cancer (now 4 years NED), lost my Mother, watched my children move from elementary school, to middle school, high school and now college. My daughter was in kindergarten when I was diagnosed. She's now in the 10th grade. My son was a third grader and now is a freshman (Knob) at The Citadel.
Time marches on....I'm still marching to the beat. Keep marching girls!!!!!

Look at you LisaH! Congratulations! Now for another 10 and more
-

-
Thanks LisaH, and so from me too, your an inspiration for me, as is for many, Yay you have been living life in all its wonder and glory, you keep going girl.....and Thanks again, your post mean more than you know, and Im still marching on too....Cyber Hugs to you...

Hi Ladies.. just finished chemo 6 x TCH, now onto continued Herceptin for 1 year in a few weeks.
Were you able to work during HER2 infusions (every 3 weeks). Im hoping the side effects are not as severe as the TCH.
Thanks and Hugs to all of you!.

Hi dventi. I have been on just herceptin for a couple months now. SE's are pretty minimal. I have been working fulltime through this so far.
Good luck to you! -
dventi 2 year survivor here. Finished Herceptin Sept 2011. Minor stiffness but that's it… some of that stiffness was from anastrozole because I still have it. You should have no problems getting back to your normal routine once your chemo SE fade away.
-
I'm not finished the 3 weekly Herceptin until next March and have been working full-time. The infusion does seem to tire me so I always schedule it for after work on a Friday and I'm pretty much straight into bed when I get home. Then I'm fine the next day.
The noticeable SEs for me: runny nose, it aggravates my mild peripheral neuropathy in my fingers for a couple of days and my eyes get a bit itchy.

jryan, lago, Jennt28.. Thanks for info!!
lago - 2 year out! great news.... so happy to hear..Question is anastrozole endrocrine therapy? Im scheduled for Femara in about 2 weeks --How long do you have to take anastrozole?
-
dventi Yes Anstrozole is generic Arimidex, an aromatase inhibitors (endocrine therapy). I call it ESD (Estrogen Sucking Drug). I think I have my BS calling it that now too as of this Monday. Femara is also an ESD. The plan right now is 5 years. There are studies that seem to point to 10 years but still waiting for more results. I'm not sure if that applies to all Hormone positive women. I know I read something that said 10 years is not beneficial for luminal B tumors… but larger studies need to be done.
-
Lago- I forget are we luminal b?

Thanks to everyone for this wonderful thread! Just diagnosed and I'm sure I'll return to this thread often for inspiration!
-
Hi Lee, will be sending you my love across the seas...I don't post often but all the best. Sharon x
-
Yes, please come back often. Many HER2-Pos women don't post past treatment, and I suspect it's because they're out there, living their lives.
All the best to you.

Thank you, Aussie-Sharon and September Song. I'm keeping this thread in the back of my mind - especially going into surgery tomorrow. Best wishes to you both and all the great people at this site who have made this very tense past week so much easier to endure!
