Happy Birthday Barsco!!! It's good to sit at the top of the hill, as you say, the view is perfect from there.......lol.
Love n hugs. Chrissy -
Happy Birthday, Barsco! -
Happy Birthday Barsco! I like your style and agree that all birthday meals for the entire day should include cake, or other similarly delicious sweets that I would normally avoid. Note to self... -
Thanks for all the birthday wishes! Now that I am older and wiser, I do feel obligated to pass on some words of wisdom. Even though it seems like such a good idea at the time, one should NOT eat cake for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Well ... not on the same day at least. -
Why not? -
Happy birthday barsco!!!!! I am in the celebrate as much as you want camp!!!
I am also in the why did I buy "halloween candy" so early, it's going to be gone before the 31st is here camp. -
Eph - you are certainly welcome to try it. I have almost repeated the mistake already - thanks to leftovers. (they might go stale ya know)
mac - my DH always buys halloween candy for hunting season (1st wk of Nov) so he can have a little nibble while sitting in the tree stand. But it never seems to make it till such time that it is needed. -
barsco - sounds like you had a sweet weekend so I got you a Meat Cake! Happy birthday!!
My brothers and I used to look in the refrigerator at leftovers and seriously couldn't decide if it was meatloaf or banana bread - is it meat or is it cake? It's Meat Cake! -
Oh I love to go to the grocery the day after Halloween, Christmas, Valentines. What diff. do I care what is written on it? I love the candy pumpkins but don't really like candy corn. Why is that when they are prob. the same thing but I think the pumpkins taste a little more something - caramel maybe.
I have 2 bars of Hershey's dark hiding in the refrig for that "someday". DH asked if we could take the choc. fudge cookies out of it now that summer is over. Nooo - I have to work some to get to them and not as likely to eat them besides I like them cold.
Off to get a glass of water. Trying to be good.
Anyone want to jump in my pocket for orthopedist visit tomorrow 1:30 Central Time? -
Luv, I'm in the pockets. Yup...I'm big enough to need two pockets! Candy or any sweet isn't my prob, I'm all about carbs and salty snacks. But in deference to health, I'll bring a light tasty quiche filled with fresh veggies -
HNS, our fam did the ketchup topped meatloaf, so easy to distinguish from banana bread! I found a great turkey meatloaf recipe that hub loves too, and I get two days' sandwiches from leftovers. DD makes it now too and grandson (1) gobbles it down! Note to self...make meatloaf next week! -
My DS still regales people with the turkey loaf fiasco of 1991. You woulda thought I asked him to eat a vegatable or something. -
Happy Fantastic Birthday, Barsco!!!!!
Speaking of meatloaf, I just added that to my menu earlier this afternoon (as I write this late Sunday night, actually 1:30 am Monday). I'm always the one on here so very late... Eastern Time. Hey, time changes next Sunday....... hate doing that. IMHO, it is STUPID!! Messes with my sleep pattern.
In case anybody remembers that I had my mammo on the 21st, the result was Negative.
Just spent a bunch of time ordering an American Girl Doll for my Granddaughter for Christmas. Good Dolly (Golly) Miss Molly, they are COSTLY. Coulda bought myself some clothes instead of little tiny things for a doll!! She will love it though & that is ALL that matters.
(Hate that my Italic up above still does not work. Hence my using all caps on a couple of words where I normally would have used Bold or Italic.)
Off to bed........
-
HNS - love the meat cake (beef cake is good too - lol). It would be very disappointing to think you are biting into banana bread only to find it is meatloaf (or vice versa).
luv - I'm in! I will bring some of the b-day cake treats that are left over. We better eat the ice cream one first.
marlegal - might just have to try that turkey meatloaf someday. See if anyone notices the difference - I am thinking that I might get the same response that Macatacmv's son had.
However, somehow there got to be an overabundance of meat in the fridge that needs to be cooked. There is ground venison, a ham (cooked buy lots of leftovers), fish that is to go in the smoker, and a chicken. I think the meal plan for the week is - eat from the fridge!
Val - so glad to hear that your mammo came back clean. -
LOL beef cake!!!!
My DD and I have been eating from the freezer this week. Mainly because I can't muster up the energy to get to the grocery store. There is definitely some mystery stuff in there, but last night we had a very good broccoli cheese soup and baked potatoes. See the wisdom I am passing down to the younger generation........ make do with what you have!
Val, yahooooo!!!! for clean scans!!!!!!!
luv, I'm in too. Let's see I can bring some granola bars. The frozen stuff would not work for a PP. -
Mystery Beef Cake: -
Dang it!!!!! (It's Antonio with his Zorro mask on) -
lol @ Eph! -
OK now I have to laugh I just put a meatloaf in the oven and sat down to see what Ive missed here on BCO.
Anyway Id like to introduce myself, my name is Katie and Im 47. I havve been reading this thread for awhile but finally posting. Was diagnosed earlier this year and currently waiting for exchange surgery -
welcome aboard cateyz2, if you've been "lurking"for awhile you know how we roll here. Looks like you are somewhere warm & fun in your avatar picture!
-
welcome cat, glad you decided to jump in the pool.
Val...yayyyyyy!
Eli, how are you feeling these days? Hope you're getting a little stronger each day, but don't rush yourself too much.
Diana, how're you doing? Does cool weather help your business? Are you dating the new guy? -
Happy B-lated Birthday Barsco!!!
Sorry I missed it but here's some roses for you!
Eli: re the "suprise" guest in your room, I think they ABSOLUTELY should have checked with you to make sure it was okay with you....I don't know that I would have objected if I was asked....but I certainly would have been put off by not being asked!
BTW: My new avatar is in honor of the Halloween spirit and my Frankenboobs! LOL!.....litte did I know in 2010 that I would be living out the fantasy! -
NativeMainer...thanks for your input. I think my MO is really good....but lacks the warm fuzzy tactful side of her personality. Since I have Kaiser (HMO), I know she doesn't get any benefit from me going to the referral she made (other than possible her sense of pride).
All of the reasons that I was leaning towards the 2nd surgeon (laproscopic type and gallbladder saving) seem to be hinging on the fact that with the DIEP surgery that I had, the incision location options are limited.....and if thats the case, do I really want to take a chance on saving the gallbladder if I eventually DO need the surgery, it can't be laproscopic (or thats what I need to clear up with the surgeon consult on Wed).
In any case....none of the doctors involved get any kind of benefit from me choosing one surgeon over the other....so that's not a factor. In reading about the type of surgery also....it appears that there is no appreciable difference in the hospital stay and/or recovery time in laproscopic vs. open surger of this type (pancreatic resection). So, I'm less motivated to avoid the open surgery. -
marlegal - yes, we did not put ketchup on our meatloaf and since my mother used the same pan well, after sitting in the refrigerator for a few days wrapped in aluminum foil, banana bread and meatloaf looked the same. And if it was older, they smelled the same. If you wouldn't mind sharing the recipe I would love to try your turkey meatloaf. Haha, I haven't traumatized anyone with turkey meatloaf yet but sausage balls, that's another story.
All this talk about meat has me craving fruit now... or beef cake... something. Okay, Halloween candy will have to do.
Ugh, tomorrow is my brain MRI if any of you ladies would like to hop in my pockets. They didn't say no food or alcohol beforehand, so I guess that means it's okay!
Well, these smilies make me smile - they're kind of funny-looking.
Aww, how cute! I just heard some noise outside my french doors and I raised the blinds and two raccoons came up to the window to look at me! -
Welcome Cateyz2 !! -
Heartnsoul, good luck with your MRI..........
-
Oh! The smileys are back. I feel so much better now.
HnS, Good Luck on you brain MRI today. I'm sure they'll find nothing. Ahahaha! (Where's the angel smiley when I need it?)
cateyz2, I seem to remember you posting something here, maybe a few weeks ago???? Or I could just have a bad brain.
Definitely going into smiley overuse mode... -
HNS - In your pocket for your MRI today. What suits your mood? -
HNS - I'm all for them finding nothing with the brain scanWish I could have made the PP but just read about it. Will try to track you down to see if I might catch the tail end.
Luv - didn't you have an appt yesterday? Or was it today? Sorry - my mind is gone to bed already. Up way too early this morning. -
Yes, thanks Barsco for remembering. I just dashed that quick note to HNS b4 running to Bible study this am.
Orthopedist just had to Xray shoulder. I bet I glow in the dark. Tada - says it's not metastasis. Well, golly gee (in my best Gomer Pyle voice) I didn't think it was after a negative bone scan and a CT. Sending me off to PT. I am beginning to feel like a football being punted around. Says you've been on 3 NSAIDS - just keep taking the Advil. So I'm off to PT on Friday morn. At least it's only 10 miles down the road and not the 45 minute drive into big town. Then revisit with him in 3 weeks. I beginning to not like many docs. I hope this is not a foretelling of the future of medical care. I've known the CEO of this group since college. Four of my docs are in it which I do like for the record sharing aspect but I think I could have done better going out on my own.
Rant for a minute - don't know if my PCP loaded the copies of scans or not but I came with another copy in hand to be safe. IF the doc knows I'm coming from a group partner do they not even bother to look at the records ahead of time. How long does it take to read over 2 scans??? (that is of course if office dingbat on Thursday bothered to upload them).
