Yes, yes, YES! Huge kudos to the MO for letting you know as soon as possible.
-
Hooray Dianarose - What great news for you!!! What a thoughtful MO you have. Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy!
-
Dianarose--HOORAY! That is WONDERFUL news!
PS--not being able to swallow is a perfectly good reason to freak out, in fact that is the NORMAL reaction to not being able to swallow! So that doesn't count.
-
Dianarose,
What great news. So so so happy for you! Hugs and more hugs!! -
I slept so good last night. I feel like the dark cloud has been lifted. I was at the shop until 10 scrubbing tiles. 2100 sq feet of tiles. They look nice, but it's a lot of floor to wash.
I did get some sad news last night though. My niece went in for a DNC and they did a biopsy of her uterus at the same time and sure enough they called her with the dam C word. My sister took that dam morning sickness pill back in the late 70's and my niece never could have kids because of it and now this.
Jeannie- I am glad to see your smiling face. Are you home from the hospital and how are you feeling? I was glad to get the email from your DH so I knew you were doing ok.
My MO is a very caring man. I am lucky to have him.
Thanks to all my sisters here for all your love and support !!!
Eli- I love the dancers dress.
-
Diana, A happy dancing slice of pie in youe honor!
-
Great News Diana......
-
Diana - A BIG WooHoo for those results and for such a human for a MO. Happy floor scrubbing and eagerly awaiting opening day reports.

Announcement:
O.K. everyone, now don't jump the gun yet, but in the next couple days, looks like we will hit the big 25,000 posts. I didn't get too much feedback on "themes," so I thought we could have a good old-fashioned BBQ during the day, and your pets are invited! If you don't have a pet, just bring the pet you would like to have, even exotic, etc. We might have stupid pet tricks, who knows? Later, we will ditch the pets and move on to dusk activities and a swankier evening. This is your big chance to show up with your dream date. (Think I know who mine has to be already.) So, mentally prepare yourself for a day of thread revelry when you see us reach another thread milestone!
-
Haha, Elimar! Looking forward to the big party! Gosh - pets and a dream date? I need to go shopping for my dress! I have so many favorite animals... if I could, I'd have a zoo! Did you ladies know the pandas at the Atlanta zoo had twins? Now we have 7 pandas - China will be coming for some of them soon.
Diana - what GREAT news! And I'm so happy you could sleep like a baby again - nothing steals your peace of mind like this damn disease. Thank goodness for de Nile! All the happy dances make me feel like dancing, too!
I saw my MO yesterday and they messed up the blood draw. Last night I had a HUGE dark red hematoma. It hurt so bad. I couldn't bear going to the ER after spending all day at the doctor's office but I had to wonder if it would ever stop growing! I put ice on it and raised it over my head. Thank goodness it hasn't gotten any bigger since last night. Has anybody ever had this happen, and what did you do?
-
YEAH!!!!! Great news Dianarose! I'm sorry about your niece.....but keep your "happy" on! What a wonderful MO to spare you from what we ALL know is the worse part.....waiting.
Looking forward to the posting party.....my puppies are too!!!!

On a whim, I used the BC forum search feature for: lone ranger. To my surprise, I discovered that a lot of sisters search for movie titles! Anyway, another surprise was finding this group - THANK YOU!
Actually, I don't go to the movies ($$$) much nor do I watch many via YouTube, the library or other rentals. However, out of childhood loyalty (I ardently listened to the radio and watched B&W TV episodes), the get up of TONTO, dismay over the miserable ratings it received, and the opportunity to attend a matinee at our local theater ($6), I recently saw "The Lone Ranger".
All that I can think of is that Hollywood politics surely must have been involved in the ratings. Surely the film deserved at least 3 stars. Anyone else? Both the good guys and the bad guys did unbelievable stunts and I enjoyed the irony of Tonto. I have not doubt that it must have taken every penny of all that money they won't retrieve to make it.
BTW, this non-movie goer plans to see Copperhead on Thursday. This movie is based on a true story during Civil War days. Wikipedia gives an explanation of this use of the term, "copperhead". I hope the following YouTube link to the movie's trailer works.

For now, I must be on my way. However, I hope to return next week to skim through the topics and the fun sharings.

Hi, Trickling. Yes, we frequently post about happier things in our lives; therefore not cancer. But do tell us what your Dx was and how far into or out of treatment you are.
-
Love the Sunflowers, my favorite. It's natures food for my outdoor friends, birds and squirrely.......
-
AND it's my symbolism to keep our inner sunflowers growing even thru' the stormy days!
-
Wow, lots of comments to make!
Barsco, so glad you had a good rib experience! Hub made them again last weekend and I still drool thinking about them. (Seems we do that a lot in this thread!!)
Diana, woooo friggin hooooo!!
2013, where in Phila? I'm in Collingdale, Delaware County and work in Center City.
Eli, 25,000....what? Man, we like to talk, don't we? Ha!
Having my bi-annual BSGI tomorrow. The test itself doesn't bother me too much, even the injection. It's just the garden variety anxious time with any test. (sigh) Perhaps just a mini group in the pockets? -
Marlegal-I will jump in your pocket. I wanted to get out of the window washing party tomorrow at the shop, so being in your pocket is way more important and fun. I just feel like raising some hell. It's been so long since I even felt like doing that.
heartnsoul-I have never heard of that happening from a blood draw. What did they do stick the needle right through?
-
So glad that your spirits are lifted, Diana.
HNS, I've had large-marble sized raised hematomas from blood draws. I think it may have something to do with the pressure (or lack of) after they remove the needle. The last one I had was after I told the guy that I was a hard stick and that it was best to use the little butterfly needle. He said no and that he was good enough to get it with the big one. It was frightening to see the huge lump and discoloration afterward. I would never go to that lab again.
Since my GP has sent me to "Theodoric Mideival Barber of York" twice in the past two weeks, I have had two very good draws with just tiny red marks afterward. Both girls got it on the first try. I complement anyone who can do that and tell them how much I appreciate them listening to me about what works.
-
It is no small wonder how we are approaching 25,000 posts! I am off line for one day and I miss a whole page. It is awesome that there is so much friendship, support and encouragement and that we can share just about anything here. Looking forward to the BBQ for sure.
Dianarose - sorry to here that your niece is now also dealing with this horrible disease. Wishing her great success with tx.
Marlegal - It was actually Meece that did the ribs. Sure wish I was there though - they sound delish! Will join D in your pocket today - work is really over rated. Maybe I'll bring a game to help relieve some of that anxiety.
-
Hahaha!
I remember "Theodoric Medieval Barber of York" from SNL! The name does suit some of them doesn't it?
I don't have vein issues (although one new nurse missed my port, and it is fairly bursting thru' my skin meaning you can see the three little bumps they use for guidance very plainly. That nurse was gone in two weeks time. What I have trouble with is the blood pressure cuff. The regular automated one will not work on me. It never gets a reading and then tries to pump me up two or three times, and the machine will go to 200 (pressure) which is way too high to start with as my pressure usually fall in the lower ranges, so OW! I always ask for the techs to do the manual cuff. At first they gave me that put upon look, and one time I issued a challenge where I said, "O.K. lets try the machine, but if it fails to get a read, then just have the manual cuff ready on all my future visits." I've got them all trained at this point.
-
Meece, sorry for the identity crisis calling you Barsco!
Thanks for the company today, all went well. One of the side benefits of having had cancer, I get all my results immediately from the doc who reads the output file. Results good...YAY!!! But when I got home,I googled a bit more on BSGI and since I've had three now, I'm getting concerned about the nuclear injections. Will have to talk with doc about it more next time I see her.
Because of LE in right arm, I just have weak left arm to work with. Some techs have no prob at all, some make me feel like shit because I have weak veins on the only available side.
Meece, I always praise and thank good techs too! When (thank you God) my tech today got the vein easy peasy,I did a 'good job' chant and she just laughed and said how sorry she felt for those of us who got sucky techs! -
Marlegal - Glad you got good results and so great you heard back today! What is a BSGI test? I got so sick the one and only nuclear injection I got - I hope I never have to do it again.
Diana - she did say my vein "rolled" after she stuck me, but that has happened before without this happening. I bet it's like Meece says - maybe she didn't apply enough pressure when she removed the needle. They've gone all the way through my vein before and that led to a collapsed vein & bruising but nothing like this thing.
This is going to start causing me almost as much anxiety as the tumor marker tests do! I didn't have any idea what to tell them before, but now that you mention it Meece, they usually use a butterfly needle without this much trauma.
Elimar - those blood pressure things do the same thing to me. I say, don't do it, it won't work. Sometimes they listen, sometimes they don't and sometimes it will work and make a liar out of me. Soon I'm going to start needing to take an Ativan just to go for a regular checkup!
I can barely remember the Theordoric Medieval Barber of York. I couldn't find it on you tube, but yeah, that sounds about like going through this blood draw every 3 months.
-
Let's see if this works Theodoric Mideival Barber of York
-
HAHA! OMG, now I remember! "You'll feel a lot better after a good bleeding!" That's going to cross my mind every time I go into the phlebotomy room.
Thanks for finding that, Meece. I've got to show my son. SNL waxes and wanes, but they've never been better than the 70's.

I had all my inspections at the shop this morning and passed and got all my permits. There is a permit for a permit. WE ARE OPENING MONDAY !!!
I had my vistit with the MO yesterday and the pet scan did say that a few small faint pulmonary nodules have developed in the upper lobes bilaterally, some of which have associated reticular opacity. These could be changes related to radation therapy (I have had a total of about 63 in 8 yrs). I cannot exclude developing metastases.
MO said he looked at them and he didn't think they were anything. We will go with that for now.
