I did a quick search yesterday for Bazedoxifene. Seems it is in the FDA pipeline. This link is dated Dec. 2012.
Dianarose - you mean Saturday as in day after tomorrow? Wow, things are moving fast. Hope you are able to get all that list done b4 opening day or at least a reasonable amount. Yum. We only have donut shops here - 3 for my little town. They have the usual bear claws, sausage rolls, etc., but no true bakery. I would weigh 300# if I lived near you but lovely 300#.
DH off to work early so I must go finish feeding goaties.
-
Don't forget...Today is a great opportunity to dress up a goat as Uncle Sam.
-
Love the page topper Eli, good job
Heading to our trailer down the shore in a few minutes and will be there till Monday - woo hoo!!
Diana, I'd say to be careful you don't overdo it, but then I remembered who I was taking to
Please try to take small rest breaks every couple hours at least, okay? Hugs.

Two things I like about today: The Statue of Liberty got to reopen finally after the deluge of hurricane Sandy.
Also, the Coney Island Hot Dog Eating Contest which, if you are lucky, is televised in all its glory. Makes me want a Nathan's.
Spoiler: Joey Chestnut ate 69 of 'em to take home his 7th consecutive win. What commitment!
-
I have trouble watching anyone jamming so many hotdogs into their mouth at one time. Makes me a wee bit queasy.
Now, I am ok with a pie eating contest. I guess the difference being my preference for fruit instead of meat?
-
Ah, but the true spectacle relies on the disgustingness. The two most acceptable responses are AWE and HORROR.
-
Luvmygoats- Yes, tomorrow is my last day at the job. No more driving an hour and fifteen minutes one way. My shop is only 20 minutes one way.
Barsco- you gave me an idea. When I do the grand opening I should do a pie eating contests. That would be crazy fun. I am with you on watching that guy eat all those hot dogs. He looks like he is not feeling so well.
Marlegal- I am not planning on slowing down until this body forces me to do so. I am sure there will be plenty of time to take it easy even if it is not welcomed.
Does anyone know how big the dam cancer has to be to be seen on a CT scan or bone scan? Even the cancer in my ovary was microscopic so I am not sure if it would have shown up.
-
Dianarose - So happy for you that you have an end date to your current job. And even HAPPIER for you that things are moving along well with your new endeavour! A pie eating contest would be such a fun opening day event and would promote just how tasty your wares are.

I don't know how many of you out there have UHC for insurance. They have some kind of program where someone calls once a month to chat with you. Might be to check on the patients mental health, I don't know. They don't ask me much, but usually say "How are you doing?" and then just pause for you to go on about whatever you want to. We all know venting is good, but the person who calls me is not even a nurse and I don't think she even knows everything my disease entails. Half the time, I have to explain what I am talking about. I participated in the program just to see what it was, but it is kind of dorky and I can't help wondering how much money it takes to run the program and whether it could be better spent.
On the other hand, I'm lucky to have this community to "talk" with, vent, bounce ideas off of, get all the info. and support that I need; so maybe this UHC is a lifesaver for some people in remote locations, not computerized. Maybe it is the only person who tries to understand them. It seems easy for me to diss the whole program, but maybe it is the only way for some to connect and talk about the experience. Anyone else ever have this aspect of care from UHC? What did you think?
-
Hope every one had a great 4th of July !!
-
Congratulations Dianarose!.....I like the pie eating contest idea.....but what a waste of a yummy pie!
Eli- love the fireworks topper....happy 4th to everyone. I don't have UHC, but I have Kaiser that have a program that sounds similar, "Breast Buddies", or something as silly as that. I didn't sign up, although I considered it right after the diagnosis. I've looked for support groups, but have chickened out each time.....I like the support I get right here, with the ability to coast for a while and come back to it when I'm up to it, or need some info -
I have UHC but no one ever calls me. They just bill me.........
-
Eli- I think I would be anoid if my insurance company called me. I have a breast cancer nurse who calls, sends cards, gift cards, etc.... I can vent to her anytime I want. She is great.
I was doing some touch up painting at the shop just for a minute to see how the paint was going to match up. The whole dam gallon fell on the floor and the paint not only went on my favorite dress, but up ther dress, all over my flip flops, both feet, and all on the tile floor that was just washed. It was so terrible that 2 of my sons were laughing their heads off. I am still not seeing the humor. That will take some time. Skin so soft bubble bath took it off like magic. Wonder what the hell is in that stuff.
One of my sons said the dress took one for the team. He got the look only a mother can give.
-
Diana, I have to admit that sounds funny and horrible at the same time! I hope you put those sons to work cleaning it up!
-
Diana...sometimes we just have to laugh...I'm sure they were more shocked then amused....Hope they helped with the mess.
-
Oh Dianarose - what a mishap! I do think that I may have had a wee chuckle if I had witnessed said event. I am sure it only fuelled your frustration as the boys laughed, but that is what boys do best. Gotta love em for it. Sorry about your dress. Hope your son recovered from "the glare"
Jeannie - love your picture - your face radiates happiness!
-
I don't have UHC...the only calls I ever got were because of the two clinical trials I did. One follow up call from each once a year. The one was through Duke Univ andI had the same woman call each year. When it was the last yr, fifth year, we had a longer chat once she pointed out it was our last call. Wow...hadn't thought about that for a while!
Diana, I confess to a giggle as i read that, even though I'm really sorry about the dress.
And my hospital offered all kinds of support groups but I had found bco on first night after dx, went into the chat rooms and never felt the need for any other support. Yrs later I started with the Boards. Best support ever, andI know how lucky I am for that outlet.
Thanks for that my friends -
Just popping in to say Hello!
I have been busy, haven't we all? Dianarose, I would love to be able to frequent your pastry shop, oh my, I would gain #'s just looking at everything. You'd have drip marks all over the cases of goodies due to my drooling!
I will certainly remember this fourth of July ~ I had to buy a new refrigerator! Crap! Just two months ago to the day (the 4th) I had to buy a new washing machine, el crappo!!
My DD asked me "do appliance deaths come in threes?!?" I told her NOT FUNNY!! And the fridge I replaced with my 'dead' one crapped out on Memorial Day. What is it with me, holidays, & appliances?? Hey, I got 14 years out of that side-by-side Whirlpool, not bad, huh? So bought another one. Stick with what works!
So, due to the delivery tomorrow of this expensive piece of machinery, my trip north is delayed by one day. I am headed to Lake Superior for fun in the sun with the Grandchildren for a week. Yay! Celebrating the grandson's 5th birthday, should be tons of fun. (Love 'em to death but I will miss my bed & my A.C.)
Hugs to all!

Dianarose--The smallest thing a CT can find is 10 millimeters by the most sensitive machines. Bone scans don't actually show a lesion, it shows an increase in the use of the marker. The size of the actual problem area can't be measured by a bone scan. There is no test that will show microscopic cancer except pathology reports. And I love the pie eating contest as an opening event! Oh, my what a mess that paint must have made. I can see how you don't find it amusing yet, but I bet you'll be at least smiling about it after the shop is done and open. Every new business has it's share of start up mishaps!
-
My boss of over 2 yrs (the owner) came in today. She didn't say goodbye, thanks for all your hard work, or anything. I looked around and said WTF am I doing here and packed up my stuff and left. She is the most ungrateful person I know. Lesson learned, how not to treat my employee's.
Nativemainer- How do you like this heat? I will be happy to see some cooler temps next week.
-
Diana, glad you left! Make sure to take pics to share with us as you get the new place ready.
Val, sorry about the fridgeHope you get a long run out of the new one.
Waiting for hub to pressure cook his ribs. About 10-15 minutes of that then he grills for just a minute or two to crisp up sauce. I drool thinking about his ribs, I've never tasted better anywhere. Had steamers to start us off. New fish shop opened near us so we decided to give them a try. Very good. We used to try lots of sauces with butter or garlic or wine, etc. then one day he just reduced the cooking liquid a bit and we used that. Best sauce ever!
I still smell like Coppertone from being at the bay beach earlier. Does anyone NOT like that smell? To me, it's just summer. I's actually a knockoff but smells just like CT and works well so I'm happy!
Hope you all are enjoying the holiday weekend as much as possible given your circumstances. Hugs. -
Congratulations Dianarose.........
-
Dianarose - You're free!!! Goodbye to bad rubbish right?
Great button Loral!
Marlegal - Good ribs definitely take talent. You've got my mouth watering thinking about them.
Was a perfect beach day here. Not really a beach goer myself but if I were that's where I would have been!
-
Marlegal, I do love the smell of Coppertone! I just got back from an impromptu trip to the beach - when I was putting it on I just smiled from the memories that rushed in.
Dianarose - so exciting about your own bakery opening soon! A pie-eating contest sounds like a great way to introduce yourself to the community. Sorry about the paint incident, especially sorry about your dress! I can't believe your boss didn't say anything to you - what a biyotch!
Had to smile about the Nathan's Hot Dog eating contest. I actually like to watch that, too, because it's so gross! Call me sick, haha. I forgot to watch it Thursday so my son recorded it today so now we can get grossed out on our own time.
Hi Val! I hate having a sudden bill like a new refrigerator - hopefully the appliances are at least on sale for all those holiday episodes!
barsco - my mouth is still watering thinking about the donut truck, lol, but now I'm thinking about those ribs, too!
-
Barsco, thanks for the compliment a while back.
Diana, I can't believe that woman's shop was a success with that attitude. Maybe it won't be now that you're taking your recipes with you! Not that I wish her failure--bad karma, if I believed in it! Loral, love the button, though.
They sure don't make appliances like they used to. Whose parents had a fridge (ours was Coldspot) that lasted twenty plus years? We've lived here 18 years and have replaced everything.
Now replacing tissue expanders for new foobs is something I look forward to! 16 months is too long but they've held up well. I guess those are a form of appliance... -
lol Jeannie, I guess they are some kind of software!!! And I agree with others who commented on your awesome smile/happy face.
HNS, exactly...you smell that smell and you smile with memories - you got exactly what I was trying to say!
Barsco, it's just so funny how we wind up with simple being better....dry rub ribs with spices and let sit for a couple hours. Dump ribs, beer, bbq sauce into pressure cooker. Let it go for a while. Remove ribs, reduce sauce. Coat ribs again in that sauce and grill for just a few minutes to crisp up and get some char marks. Beautifully simple and finger licking good! And the beauty of pressure cooking is that 99% of the fat melts off/disintegrates.
Sorry for long food post...you guys know that's not my usual style, but I'm having lots of yum yum moments this weekend and apparently needed to share!!! lol
-
Oh my, I am so drooling over those ribs. I love meats cooked in the pressure cooker. Some people are afraid to use one for fear of it blowing its lid but I never was. Used a large canner as well for everything under the sun. Loved doing that though lots & lots of work in the preparation. (cutting potoatoes, etc) There wasn't much I didn't can or a jam I didn't make. Now I only make Strawberry jam & sold my canner & all the jars & supplies a couple of years ago.
The smell of Coppertone reminds me of when I was young & lived at home & used to 'tan' with my Mother. Oh, my, I miss her... We'd listen to the radio & I'd tell her the words to the songs & she'd laugh........ fun times. I remember once I sent for the words to Jumpin' Jack Flash by the Rolling Stones from a radio station in San Francisco when I was 16 & when I read them to her she was shocked - I still know every single correct word in that song & think of her & 'smell' Coppertone whenever I hear it... sigh....
Dianarose ~ I am not shocked by your former boss being that way. When I quit a job I'd had for just a couple of years when I was in my early twenties for a better job with the State of Mi, on my very last day I went into my boss' office to say goodbye but before I could speak she said, "I hope your new job is lousy." I replied, "It won't be." And walked out without saying goodbye. What a bitch! She'd tried to get me to stay, I was a bookkeeper, & she offered me a substantial raise but I didn't like her & there was more advancement in working for the State. Argh!!
Well, must get to bed. Early to rise to head north.
♥
(Hi E~)

We stayed with a family in Brazil years ago who didn't have much, but they had a pressure cooker! My oh my, she was a good cook. We introduced her to chocolate chip cookies and she slid to the floor in rapture!
