Hi all.  No JO don't think it's ragweed here yet, but soon.  Just one of my 24-hour things.  Happens every few months that I just feel lousy for a day and then it's all over - I rarely get really sick.

Life has been so busy since DS arrived home.  We had DS1 , his wife and Baby stay this past weekend too.  A houseful to say the least!

Meece - nice to see you.

 My DD is on her way home!!  She left Seattle on Wednesday and guess where she is until Sunday - Yup - she got to New York before Irene did!  Hope she and everyone else in 'the path' will be safe.  Can't wait to see her it's been 3 whole months!! - longest period we've ever not seen each other during!!!

Now newbies have 2 places to look and we don't have to worry about not daily bumping here.  Hope all are doing well.

Ainm, nice adventure for your DD.  they are shutting down public transit at noon there tomorrow in prep for hurricane Irene so hope she's in the city where she can get around easily on foot (but also look out for flying objects from the wind).  I know you must be super excited to have her coming home soon.

Patoo - she's stranded there - her flight scheduled for tomorrow has been cancelled - she may get out on Monday but she has been travelling with her friend and for some reason they have not been rebooked together and her friend is stranded there until Thursday.  They are quite low on funds and she is worried about how she will be able to get to JFK if public transport is still shut down.  But they are both sensible resilient resourceful girls - I just hope they will be safe and if they do get seperated I hope that whichever of them is 'left behind' will be safe alone.

Ainm, sorry to hear that.  I suppose they were just rebooked on any available seats so maybe they didn't have 2 together. I think the transit is only shutdown through tomorrow so getting to JFK on Monday should not be a problem.  Do they know anyone in NY who can assist the friend if she has to stay until Thursday?

Okay, weather getting pretty bad here so probably need to log out but will log in tomorrow (if I can).

Patoo - how are things with you??  I heard on the news here that a lot of NJ was evacuated - hope everything is ok?

Ainm, most of the evacuation was for shore areas and also areas that are low-lying and tend to flood easily anyway.  I have "flood" in my little backyard (I mean really tiny) but it's just because it was already waterlogged from lots of rain the last couple of weeks.  I got mainly wind and rain and just looking now to get out to take a walk even though the wind is still pretty high.

Did you hear from DD and friend?

Patoo - DD is fine - she has organised a lift to JFK for her flight tomorrow evening and she will be in Shannon, Ireland on Tuesday morning.  Her friend is going to friends in Maine until her flight on Thursday so all is well.

Oh, Ainm!  I am sure you have been dealing with aq lot of concern over all of this.

I had a great time with the kids.  So much fun to play Grandma.  I even bought Patch his first pair of shoes!!
