Hi ladies,
Glad to hear that Deb is doing well.
Going out for dinner with two NY local women whom I met on this board. First time .
Beth you amaze me how each day you keep up with all of our news. Hope you had a nice weekend away with your DH.
Hugs to all,
Francine
-
Francine: Sounds like fun getting together with some "breast" friends.
I had a wonderful weekend away with DH, BIL and SIL. The grapes were all on the vines, did wine tours, dinner out, a bit of boating and basically just soaking in the scenerey and good company. My BIL and SIL have been to Napa Valley several times and to Italy. Theysaid that Kelowna at this time of year is exactly like the other places. So incredibly beautiful.
Have a great dinner and enjoy bonding face to face with your cyber sisters.
Hugs

Hi everyone, I have been reading everyday keeping up with everyone's posts. Tomorrow, I will have my last regular rad and then Friday, I will start my first of 5 boosts. I will be so glad when this phase is over with. Rads have been very uncomfortable for me. I lay there for 20 minutes with my arms above my head and my upper back starts to spasm half-way through. Thank goodness I only have ONE more day to deal with it. My skin in the middle of my chest is very pink and has some blisters. My arm pit look almost black. My breast and upper chest looks pink, but looks good compared to the rest. Take care, everybody!
-
Deb- glad to hear your surgery went well! I still have tightness in my stomach from my TRAM in january, but it comes and goes and I have no regrets, I am happy with the results. take it easy and take care of yourself. If you don't have a recliner to sleep in you might see if you can borrow one or rig up a bunch of pillows- pillows are your friend. I slept in the recliner for at least a week.
Christy- I'm so glad you get to ring the bell soon! the black skin peels off first... I had to take pain meds every day for a acouple weeks afterwards- I was miserable. I found rads to be harder than I thought it would be, but even taking in account the sinus infection I had - I think the level of misery I had was equal to about 1.5 rounds of chemo.
Pickle your trip sounds wonderful- I lived in Victoria BC for awhile and I loved the environment up there- so beautiful!
I had a short trip to St. Louis area to see family last weekend- my dad flew up from FL, my dad's cousin flew in from Oregon, and two others were in town from AZ, and we all met with a bunch of other local cousins. One of them- the shorter older women in the center had bc 37 years ago. She had a mx and nothing else treatment wise.

thanks to all of you on Facebook who have wished me Happy Birthday! It was a great birthday despite having to work. I had a nice lunch out with friends and dinner and flowers from DH. now my boy Julio (cat) is in my lap between me and the 'puter looking for some love. We are going out of town again this weekend- heading to IL for a concert by my favorite band (Great Big Sea from Newfoundland). then I get to see them again on Monday in Joplin MO- only an hour from home.

Hi ladies,
Dayla, Been thinking about you. Great picture of your family . Nice to see your hair growing back in.
Pickle and Dawn.. Dinner was great with women who understand. We will try to have dinner again next month. There were only three of us this time.
Christy - stay strong it will all be over very soon.
Can someone tell me how to change my avatar picture.
Hugs,
Francine
-
Francine, go to the My home tab- click add picture and upload a new pic- it will replace the old one.
-
Beth - Glad you had a great weekend away. We all need that sometime or another - just to get away and forget abou BC - even if it is just for a few hours!
Deb - My thoughts and prayers go to you for a speedy recovery!
Christy - Your soon going to ring that bell!!! Just a few more girl and you will be done!
Francine - Your hair is growing in so nicely!! Mine is taking it's dear old sweet time. My lashes are back but my brows are still awal!
Looking forward in doing the Run for the Cure this weekend. The March Warrior Princess' - I will wear with pride!!
Going for my CT scan today. Keeping my fingers crossed all is well. I'll check back with you gals later.
-
Wishing you good luck with test today...all will be fine and dandy!
Last rad tomorrow...no bell to ring but I will be ringing on the inside!
Take care all!
-
CCBaby: Yeah...rads are almost done. Sorry to hear about your back and skin. I had to go for a bone density last week and laying on the table was really hard due to my back problems. I was like a 95 year old and needed help getting up. My personal trainer is working with me to try to fix it.
Dayla: Great picture of your lovely family and wow a 37 year survivor...gotta love that news! Great Big Sea is a big deal here in Canada especially on the East Coast. Enjoy!
Francine: Glad you had a nice dinner and it must be wonderful to be with people who understand.
Kim: Good luck with your scan today. Sendng prayers and positive thoughts for you. I will be thinking of you and all my BC sister when I do the Run for the Cure on Sunday too....of course I'll be walking though...lol
Chris: Last one tomorrow for you....yahoo! I'll be ringing a bell for you....(the dogs will think it's dinner time)...lol
Deb: Thinking of you today. Hope you are on the mend and doing a bit better each day.

NYDeb ! Can't wait to hear from you! Hope all is well! Love, Dawn

Happy Birthday Dayla! I am glad I read that on here, otherwise I wouldn't have known! Facebook doesn't let me know when it is someone's BD, maybe I am suppose to click on something everyday to find out? Your family pic is awesome and your hair looks so good!
Chris...Congrats on your last rads today!!
I am sad because I just read about one of our bco sisters that just passed away today, Heidi_Ho. Her brother left a post telling us the news....She was just 2 years older than me and has 2 young children...I feel so bad for the family....
-
Christy: I am saddened by the news of Heidi's passing as well. Her brother's posts were so touching and it seems like she has an incredible family who will be great support to her husband and children.
The outpouring of love and support for Heidi and her family from all her "sisters" here at BC.ORG is truly remarkable. I am so grateful we have this wonderful group of women here.
Hugs

My prayers are with Heidi's family.
Congrats to all who reached the end of rads as of today!!
Alyad - HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!
NYDeb48 - Wishing you a speedy recovery
Kim40 - Good Luck to You!
Pickle141 - Sounds like you had a wonderful time on your get-away. As for me ...they are saying they see a pocket behind where the tumors were located and some cells appear to be there (??). They readjusted the beam in hopes of zapping that area. My onc is the one saying "re-stage" ... her definition ... she's going tell me how much of the cancer wasn't caught.
I hate when I can't catch up on all the posts and I don't like leaving people out
. I wish everyone a better day every day. May you say or do something to make someone life's more meaningful.
-
Hi,
Raymon.. Hope all turns out well. You know we are here to support you in any way we can.
Happy birthday Dayla
I too was so saddened by Heidi's death. So young and so tragic.
Chris..Congrats on your last rads.
Hugs to all,
Francine
-
Raymon: Sorry to here you are dealing with this unknown "pocket". Hopefully the new beam direction will zap whatever it is. When I met with the radiation onc a couple of months ago to see if they were going to do rads, I asked them a little about how they get so precise with the beam and he told me that they actually send the report to their phycsicist who then maps it out precisely. I thought that was amazing....I didn't know they had an actual physicist working for us too. It sounded so sophisticated and made me feel so confident that there is such an amazing team of experts working for us. I didn't need rads but found it interesting nonetheless.
Are they going to sample the cells (biopsy)? Nothing is ever certain until they do that so hang in there, be strong, and like Francine said....we are all here to support you.
Chris: Ding Ding!..... That's a bell I hear ringing.....Congrats on being done rads. Have a wonderful weekend!
Hugs and Prayers

All done!!! I went at 7:45 this morning and wouldn't you know..the machine was down! I had to go back at 12:30 to have my last rad! I took muffins this morning and was told that since I had to come back later...I needed to bring lunch too! Everyone was so nice there...I will miss their humor.
Had rehearsal and dinner tonight. Everything was so beautiful. I cried the minute the music started! My son has become such a wonderful young man and I am so proud of him. Can't believe I have one getting married already..his youngest brother is 8!!
Thank you all for your support ...I love having you around!
Hugs to all!
-
I am behind on the posts but promise to catch up soon. The kids and their schedules have me running around.
I saw my PS yesterday and he said that due to the damage caused by the radiation, he strongly suggests that I have latissimus dorsi flap reconstruction (muscles from the back) instead of an implant. Has anyone else had this type of reconstruction? I was all set for him to say I was looking good for my implant and then this. I am so ready for all of this to be over!

Hello ladies,
I just did the Komen Race in Charlotte. It was really nice. I had no idea you got so many freebies...especially with a survivor shirt.
I went to my one month follow-up with my rad onc and he told me my breast shrunk more than normal. He said I may need a reduction on the good side. I can't do anything for six months so I'm hoping it evens out a little by then.
Also, good news (I hope) I starting spotting today. I pray this is a return of aunt flow. I never thought I would be so happy to see that.
Good luck to all and have a great weekend!!!
-
Crusader and Pickle - Thanks so much
Technology is wonderful ... my rad doc told me their process ... it seems they use 3-D. It really looks cool and the pictures look so "real". They won't be able to do anything until I'm healed from the burns.
Congrats Chris!
Way to go Nasharayne!
I'll check back later ... just didn't want to be so far behind in posting again.
-
Nasharyne: Hoping that dear Aunt Flow has returned for you......funny what we wish for these days.
So glad you enjoyed the Komen race. I am participating in the CIBC run for the cure tomorrow morning. It is a country wide event. I have 22 people on my team including my DH, DD, DIL and vrother. I will be proudly wearing my "Survivor" shirt in honor of all of you and I will be thinking of all of you every step of the way! Kim 40 is also doing it in Halifax.
Kim40: How are you doing? Any word on your scan?. Think of you everyday.
Gymmom: I imagine you are soooo busy this time of year with the kids,,,,,school....sports etc. I always found September to be quite hectic when my kids were young.I am not familiar with that reconstruction but I think there is a thread designated to recon that you will probably gets lots of input. Good luck and so nice to hear from you.
Hugs and blessings to all

Hello everyone, I am going to have 6 1/2 weeks of radiaton. Not sure what to expect. I am wanting to go on my lunch hour for treatments. Is that realistic? Does it take long? I go in next Friday for simulation--I think-- not sure what that is. Any feedback would be appricated. God Bless All Wendy
