Hey Holli - I read your background, and our diagnosis dates and statistics are very similar. My tumor was 1.5 cm, and I ended up with a lumpectomy and radiation, as well as chemo about the same time you did. Good luck with your races!

Join us if you can! We would love to have you and any others!
I hope that all is well with you!!!

Hi everyone....this makes my 4th attempt at doing this....so I hope it gets through. I have recurrence to my bones..Dx in Nov 2009. I'm dealing with migraine this morning. I can't put into words how I feel right now about anything. I was Dx first time in Oct 2000...silly me...thought I almost had this beast licked!!!!!! I don't know if I am putting this in the right place. I know several of us got together in 2003 in Myrtle Beach in 2003. Had a great time. Some of us even did the Komen Race in Charleston, I think that was in 04 or 05.....can't remember. We called ourselves the "Carolina Girls". I am trying to connect with them...if they want to. Our group consisted of Gloria ( my neighbor) whom I still see and is a great friend and listener, Surv5r2001. joannnc, lspears and debelm.
I live about 30 miles east of Raleigh, lived in Cary 15 yrs. Have always lived in NC. Originally from the Graham/Burlington area. Have a brother and sister-in-law in Jamestown
Thanks for listening....Kay

Hi Kay,
I live in Fort Mill, SC, right over the border from Charlotte. I'm already registered and have a team for the Charlotte Race for the Cure on October 2. If anyone would like to join me, my team name is "Saving Second Base."

Hey Carolina Girls! I just came across this message string. I too live in Charlotte and see Limentani and Turk! I was diagnosed March 24, 2010, the day before my 31st bday.
-
Hello...Just came across this message string...I participated in the Charlotte-2010 Avon Walk for Breast Cancer as a CREW member/water & ice route for the first time. Had a BLAST meeting new friends...but I did work hard loading and unloading water and ice for walkers! I plan to participate in 2011 again as a CREW member! The WALKERS ROCK!
-
I just "found" this thread again! I really get overwhelmed with all the posts on BCO and have a hard time keeping up with everything.
I am all in favor of a get-together of some sort. Maybe we could do something in the Spring or visit each others fundraising events... we could be serial party-crashers!
-

lvtwoqlt - We are reversed! I wasn't born in NC but we moved to Statesville when I was young. Went to school there. Moved to Lexington, Boone, and then back to Lexington. I see your nephew at the football games while he's helping with the high school band. Nice to meet you!
-
I moved to Lexington when I was in the 9th grade from Ohio. The band director is actually married to my niece but I claim him as my nephew. I haven't made it to any of his football games or band concerts but my parents go to most of the band concerts.

N C Girls, I am in Charlotte, just finished surgery by Dr. Sarantou and will hopefully get rads started this week or next with Dr. Bobo. Mild detour to have fluid drained from seroma. At first I was not sure if Dr. B and I would get along. He did make 3 phone calls to reach me and explain why the fluid could impede the dosage of radiation so he's back on my A list. I'll see him again Tuesday to re CT scan and check the fluid level. libraylil

Hi librarylil. I live north of Hickory and Dr Sarantou did my surgery 3 years ago when he was in Hickory. He is a wonderful doctor.

Hi MKL,
Just came in from sitting outside and getting a few minutes of NC vitamin D. I believe spring is finally here. Hopefully no more bad storms, we just got power back after 2 days, yard is a mess with limbs and branches. I am still in chemo, last one will be at end of month, spring sure makes me feel better already.
