Brazilian berry 'Acai" destroys cancer cells

I wish I had known that acai destroys cancer cells. I could have saved my insurance company about $150 thousand.

I strongly suggest anyone who believes that read "Our Daily Meds" by Melody Petersen (well written and top-notch research.) It will be an education. I also trust Public Citizen's Worst Pills Best Pills. They often file petitions with the FDA and they advise you not take any prescription that has been on the market less than 5 years. A number of drugs were not tested thoroughly and caused deaths plus there are also "metoo" drugs that don't work any better than older proven drugs (that are off patent.) The March newsletter has an article "Watch Out for Interactions with Tamoxifen."
They are suspicious of alternatives. However, I have been taking alternative medicine newsletters such as Dr. Williams and Dr. Weil for 20+ years so I always have an open mind.

Mahalo Floridalady for your informing posts!
I just read
ANTICANCER: A NEW WAY OF LIFE
DAVID SERVAN-SCHREIBER, MD, PHD
If you google it, you can see exerpts. He did have brain cancer - twice. He tells us why the traditional Western diet creates the conditions for disease and how to develop a science-based anticancer diet. How and why sugar and stress feed cancer and ways to achieve life balance and good nutrition to combat it. How to find the right blend of traditional and alternative health care. Etc. He is a clinical professor of psychiatry at the Universisty of Pittsburg School of Medicine and cofounder of the Center for Integrative Medicine.
I must reread it and if I'm still as impressed, I am going to give it to my oncologist (fairly open minded) and my primary physician (who says "you might as well eat cheeseburgers.") It will make a good Xmas present to my sons & sister. It is well-written and well researched. He says all the scientific evidence shows that we can have a substantial impact on our body's capacity to defuse the mechanisms of cancer.

I just read that book, Anticancer, twice. I like the thought that we can help our bodies fight cancer
with food. I like the feeling that I can do something. Check this book out, it´s very interesting.
I´m going to reed it again, when I feel depressed ..It gives me hope.

I have heard good things about Acai. A peice on the news referred to Acai not working for those trying to lose weight. Any one hear about antioxidants being bad because they keep cancer cells healthy too? Sticking to Green tea and cranberries for now!

Wow! I'm a newbie to this board and I, like the rest of you, have been diagnosed with this awful disease. I was pregnant when diagnosed at a Stage 1 and had to make some very difficult treatment decisions. Thankfully today, I have a healthy beautiful daughter and I hope and pray I never have to deal with this disease again. I too am SCARED as most of us are and I thought this was a safe place for women to come and exchange stories and support one another. All I see is a bunch of caddy pissed off women in every forum I go to (except the Oncotype DX Roll Call - they were lovely). Maybe you should take all this negative energy and focus it on you and your health/family in a positive way instead of fighting with one another over a stupid berry. The cat fights here are ridiculous and I will not be returning to these boards ever again. Try to live in peace my fellow "sisters".

Minnegirl, I'm not sure being a scolding mommy is really an enhancement to the discussion. Seems to just contribute to the dysfunction.

I like these boards for several reasons:
-Support - the people on these boards are wonderful - so caring and giving.
-Information exchange
-Catty, pissed off women - they (we?) keep things lively around here.

Mary Jo...tell your friend that Costco has the same thing as the Mona Vie juice, much, much more inexpensive...
