Oh Deanna! I am so sorry about the LE flair. I have had really good luck using under armour T's when I exercise. I also use the sleeve prophylacitcally, but the T has totally transformed my exercise and even flying in a plane - I always struggled, and I've been good for so long now, I am almost afraid to mention it for fear a flair will happen. I also have not been to the gym to do the weights for 2 months since I had the rhomboid muscle injury, and it used to be if I didn't do weights every other day, I'd get flairs. Now, I don't even need to do that. I just use the under armour T every time I do cardio. so far, fingers crossed.
Thanks for the info on Self healing. I'm going to add to my Amazon wish list...
Today I am taking a break, but tomorrow the plan is 45 on the elliptical!
-
Take it easy Deanna! Hope your arm will get better soon and the pain will subside. Get well soon!
-
Tke it easy deana; Thaks for the CD name, I will try and order it from Amazon. I am really trying to rid my mind of negativity and concentrate on positive thoughts:-) I have increased my walks, did 15 mins this morning.

I haven't been on here in weeks! Too much fun going on
. I went to our neighborhood Pi-Yo class last night, after being out of town since last Wed. That class is very hard for me!! My legs are so weak and balance is off, especially the right leg, but I'm trying!!kmmd, glad you are past the surgery and on to healing! Hi to the rest. I have to get back to work, just took a quick break to catch up on the posts! VERY HOT here today - UGH!
-
Kari, Yay for fun!! What is Pi-Yo??
45 on the elliptical after dinner out with my oldest daughter who is home now for a time. Special!
-
Pilates-Yoga, and after next Monday night (I babysit my granddaughter Monday night) I will be able to go to the Pi-Yo classes each Monday night! I am SO excited!!! Enoy your oldest DD Springie!! YAY
-
Yoga yesterday, then dinner out with both DDs, and tonight 45 on the eliptical. Tomorrow I am taking a day of rest and then cycling both Sat and Sun!! Life is good. I love to move!

Go Kari, it is great to find exercise you like! I bet Pi-Yo is great!!!
-
I've been MIA lately. Glad to see that this thread is moving along without me... life goes on without me...
I have been trying to run every other day... today was my day off... so I guess I gotta go tomorrow

My hubby says maybe we will get a treadmill for me to use here at the house.... that would be nice, since it is already to the point where if I don't go out REALLY EARLY, it's TOO HOT!!
Hope everyone has a great weekend...

DD's are the BEST!
Been mall walking on my lunch hour this week (with the exception of today, lunch with coworker), but got up 30 min early this week to do a little yoga stretching and jumping jacks - OH and been taking stairs on bathroom breaks at work too.
-
I'm still recuperating, but, I've been getting lots of walking in.
-
kmmd,
Glad that you are walking, I think exercise helps us to heal faster. After my bilateral mastectomy, I went for a walk when I got home from the hospital.
Bad news... Joe has decided to take our tax money and buy a bistro table and chairs for the screened porch, so NO treadmill...

Harley, Pooh!!!
So took a 2 hour bike ride today that was very eventful! DH's bike broke twice, he needed to flip it over and mess with it to get the tires to turn again. I was going too fast down a curvey decking and wiped out! my hip and theigh took the brunt of it and are sore and I tapped my eyebrow on the decking when I fell, and it split open a bit and bled like crazy! I took off my sock and pressed it until it stopped. Of course this happened when we were nearly at the furthest point!
My eyebrow looks funny, oh well!! If we go tomorrow, it will be early and a shorter ride. Resting tonight!!
-
Oh, no, Spring! Hope you are not hurt too bad!
Hope everyone has a great weekend!
I met another bco friend the other night, for dinner. If any of you ever come down close to my hometown, either Myrtle Beach, or Wilmington or any where in between, just give me a holler. I would LOVE to meet you!!
Harley
-
Sorry about your wipeout, Spring! Hope you're not too ache-y tomorrow. Maybe get some ice on that eyebrow cut.
Who did you meet, Harley? You should post a photo if you got one. And I don't know about a bistro table over a treadmill! You should have let us vote on it! Deanna
-
I met Tinkertude...
will see about getting a pic....
Harley -
That's nice Harley!
I seem to be healing up okay, we're going out again tonight! Busy day to day. Hot too!! Didn't get up early enough this AM for a morning bike ride....
-
Deanna, You are TOO funny! I want the bistro table, but I also want a treadmill. It would make it so much easier for me to keep my exercise schedule, especially while it's so hot, and when it gets cold again, too... I am a real wimp... although I did go out and run today, and it really wasn't too bad.
Spring,
Glad to hear that you are healing up nicely! I know that you exercise pretty regularly, and I found exercise to really help me heal faster. I went for a walk, when I got home from the hospital, after my bilateral mastectomy, drain tubes and all....
Enjoy the rest of your weekend!!
Harley -
Spring--- I am very sorry to hear about your wipe-out. Hope you will be better soon. As a result of what happened to you I decided to slow down, too. Sometimes I go like a maniac when I ride my bike. Though, I only go "crazy" when I am in the park and it is allowed to zoom. And thankfully this weekend I was able to go for three long bike rides at last. I am very happy I did, though, I was rather out of shape at first. I feel so much better that I did something to keep my body in some shape. This week I will try to do more. Hope you all will have a lovely week.
-
I am healing well! Bodies are amazing, I swear! I think, Survivorwoman, it's okay to go fast straight, but don't go fast turning! That's my advice anyway!
May take a break today. OR may venture back to the gym where I have not been to do the weights in 2 months since I injured my rhomboid/back muscle. Sort feeling chicken!! I need to just go, do a very little, and break the ice. I need a success!
-
I went for a run yesterday AND today, but only because I won't be able to go tomorrow...
I have an onc. appt.... I DON'T WANT TO GO!!
Harley
-
Harley, the ONC will say, You look great and you pass with flying colors! See you in X months! You'll see. It will be fine! You are very healthy!
Runnng all the time !!!
-
Good luck tomorrow, Harley! I'll be thinking about you and praying that all goes well.
Glad that spill didn't keep you down, Spring. You're amazing! And, yes, our bodies' capacity to heal is nothing short of miraculous!
I've been limiting my walking to about 30 to 40 mins. this week, and have found that's much more do-able in the heat. Deanna
-
Hi all!
Deanna - I ditto you about walking in the heat. I can't take it! I try to walk about 15 minutes early in the day, then 20 to 30 minutes before the sun sets. Even so, after the evening walk, I'm overheated.
I have made some progress with diet and exercise. I lost a few pounds and a half inch around my waist. It's not easy. :-)
Spring - sorry about your fall. :-( Good advice about curves!
Harley - good luck with your onc!
-
Thanks everyone. Spring, you are too funny! I am a horrible runner! I have to stop and walk ALL the time.... How are you doing, after your fall? You seem to be bouncing back nicely.
My onc. appt. went well, I guess.... I had asked him before when I could go to ONCE a YEAR appts., and he said: Well, you always have so many questions, and they are good questions, so yes, you can keep coming every 6 months... GRRR.... that is NOT what I meant.... so I asked him AGAIN today, and he said that I could have been going once a year, from the beginning. He only accomodated me because I 'need the reassurance'. WTH?? So, I will be going back on 11/11/11 AT 11:00... lol From then on, I'll be going once a year.
Yes, it is so difficult to exercise, walk or run, in this heat. Don't over do it, Deanna.

45 on the elliptical today. It was so HOT and HUMID here then (almost 100) we got a rain storm and it cooled off to 70s!! it is like heaven! Just can't go out or mosquitos will eat me! ha!!
I am healing fine after the bike fall.
I went back to Yoga last week and because my rhomboid muscle is now better ( gee, I have been a mess of injuries lately!!) and I did some down dogs AND NOW my trucal LE which was so good for so long I thought I was cured (HA!! Never with LE) IS BACK and buggin me. I think I am going to wear my under armor T's during the day for a few days and see if that helps.
It's always something!!
Deanna, that is a LOVELY new picture of you!
Harley. Good for you! Once a year!! I go every 4 months. 3x a year!! Maybe you are farther out though? I hit my 3yr diagnosis anniversary in just a few days, July 10!!
-
Deanna, I thought that was a new member of our club! LOL WHOHOO! You are BEAUTIFUL!
Spring, you sure have had more than your share of injuries! I remember awhile back, I was tripping and falling, when I was only WALKING.... I skinned BOTH my knees up pretty bad!! I guess we seem to go through these phases.
I am 4 years out, as of March 15, 2011... at least that is when my surgeon took IT out... I count from that day. ooh, and it's almost your 3 year cancerversary! YAY! You know, it really bugs me that some oncs have you going every 3 months FOREVER, and others just say: See ya next year!! I was told when I was 2 years out that I could start going to annual onc. appts., but the person who told me was a phlebotomist, and I figured she didn't know what she was talking about. I asked my onc. and got his pat answer.... that as long as I kept having questions, I could keep coming every 6 months. Since he says I need 'reassurance', maybe it IS time I graduated to annual onc. appts. He isn't very reasuring, but we are developing a repoire, I guess.

Harley, do you think sometimes how often our oncs want to see us depends somewhat on our original dx? I feel like my local onc would never miss me if I didn't call and make an app't., which I haven't done since last August. He has so many patients who really need him, I decided once a year at this point is fine with me -- unless I have a specific question or concern. But I think it depends very much on what feels right to you. And I had to laugh at your comment about my newest avatar! I've actually had the same "Who is that?," reaction a couple of times since I changed it. Pretty silly... And Spring, thank you for the compliment. I love that these avatars are so tiny the wrinkles don't show too much!
YaY to the scale moving down, Theresa! Keep up the good work!
I walked for 70 mins. this a.m. It was hot, but I just felt especially energized for some strange reason, so just kept walking. Deanna
-
I've been babysitting the past 4 days! Back at work (only 3 more minutes to go, heehee).
Deanna, LOVE your beautiful new avatar, simply stunning!!
Spring, I remember another gal on my clinical trial thread, she fell on her bike a couple years ago and broke her arm and was pretty banged up, THANK goodness you are ok, albeit a bit bruised up.
Harley, my onc graduated me from every 3 months to every 4 months last fall, WOOHOO!! My 3 year cancerversary is July 7th! YIPPEE!
-
Deanna,
YAY for walking 70 min.!! WOW!
Gee, MY onc. doesn't give me the option to just call when I want to see him... nope... he gives me the paperwork when I leave, and I have to see the scheduling people to get my next appt... They don't want me to miss an appt. LOL But, I think you are right; it depends on our dx, and our info. is all very different.
Kari
Happy cancerversary!! WHOHOO!! I see my surgeon on Friday. These appts. NEVER seem to end!!
Hope everyone is doing great!
Harley

I assume the ONCs want to see us more frequently so they can collect the $$ from the insurance company. I guess I have turned into a jaded person!!! Currently , I don't mind seeing mine every 4 months. I also have to go in 2x a year for Zometa infustions. So that is 5x a year. At least I was "released" from the RADS onc!! I wonder if she will lower me to 2x a year when I hit 5 years?? I'll let ya know!
Today was Yoga. It was good, but I have decided, I am giving up down dogs. I am now going to do planks instead. I can't do inversion at all. (going up-side-down) Having no Truncal LE for 2+ months was like heaven. I am done with inverting myself and dumping the blood down to my armpit and chest area. Screw it. it is annoying and takes forever to resolve! There are many things I can do to build strength in my upper body with out inverson. I'm done! It feels good to have come finally to this conclusion. I tried everything, but down dog and shoulder stands are out for me. It's a bummer, but I am happy to be alive and doing everything else! I'll jsut have to adjust in Yoga class. Life goes on. I am wearing my under Armour T's trying to get the chest LE under control again. Sigh.
