Reporting in that I saw BS today. I really like this woman. A huge weight was lifted from me as I explained my concerns and asked all my questions. I decided upon the normal standard of care, which is lumpectomy + rads. I do have to have biopsy of a pea shaped growth in the R breast on Friday, but we're pretty sure that it's benign.

True silence really means going deep within yourself to that place where nothing is happening, where you transcend time and space. You go into a brand new dimension of nothingness. That's where all the power is. That's your real home. That's where you really belong, in deep Silence where there is no good or bad, no one trying to achieve anything. Just being, pure being. . . .
    Silence is the ultimate reality.

Another beauty of a day here -- high 70's. Haven't heard from the tree man as yet ( maybe later today ) but do have an apt. for tomorrow morning to have the septic system cleaned. This is an every other yr. chore and this yr. is it.

The yard is looking good. My cousin was going to come over and help, but I think there won't be much left. Maybe some odds and ends, but a huge portion ( both sides now ) has been removed. Once the tree guy is done we will put down more grass seed on some of the bare spots. We keep going like this we will get somewhere. Dh was surprised that so much was done. He had to work last yr. when my two cousins and I did the yd. and had it basically finished in a matter of about 5 hours. Always wondered why Dh insisted on "blowing" 2 acres of leaves into the ravines. After the past couple of days I think he has turned himself into a believer that mulching by mower is highly preferable.

I hope you are all going to have a beautiful day.

I went to see BS this morning and she released me to the care of PS. I asked about pathology reports and all of my breast tumors had dramatically shrunk... some to nonexistent!! 1 was at 3 mm but that was at 1.9 cm so I'm happy. Out of 4 lymph nodes only 2 had cancer!! Woowhoo!! Same cancer as in my breast so that's a relief. She thinks we've halted it. She encouraged me to get MO to be as aggressive as I want.

She was pleased with my progress and range of motion and said I have exceeded her expectations 8) I left her office with surgical bra in the trash and a tube top bra made of a white mesh. She's sending me to lymphedema people to get fitted for a sleeve in case I need it with Rads. I told her left side (same as cancer) I have no problems with edema...its all on my right side. Hmmmm she said scratching her head.

DH And I stopped by the American Cancer Society room and I found 2 post surgical camisole tops for support at bed time. Nice long tops with zippers or velcro for front closure 8)

Nanette: there’s a lymphedema PT specialty—be sure to see such a specialist to guide you on manual lymph drainage techniques and protective measures + compression sleeve use. We’re at risk of lymphedema after any breast surgery, whether or not axillary excision, alas. Something to be super aware of to support and protect and prevent. I have no lymphedema, but my PT says to wear a compression sleeve 1-2 hours before and after flights for 1-2 years prophylactically, because of air pressure changes stressing our lymphatic sy

Nannette: Hiking lady is right. My first taste of LE was due to two serial node biopsies and nothing else. Can't remember if this site was referenced before, but a great resource. It was created with input from some wonderful BCO people.

Glad for all the pretty good news Nanette and the fact that you are released from your BS. You are I feel getting good advise from these ladies. It is fantastic there is somewhere to go where you can get input from a number of people since we are all different.

Had class today, but came home early due to the tree that needs to come out. Whew !!! Startled when we got home to see a backhoe in the yard. Well, what we all thought was dry enough ground wasn't -- and the bucket truck got half way to where it needed to go to make the run up to the tree and sank -- more on one side than the other. Thank God he was between two trees or that huge expensive truck would have went over on its side and kept rolling down the hill. I would have been hysterical I think if I had seen it all, but they had just pulled the truck back up on the drive-way just as we arrived.

Anyway --- he will be back -- when it is a lot dryer.

IllinoisLady YES I agree there is a ton of support and wisdom with in this group!! I'm so thankful I found this list and the wonderful people here. I've learned so much and base my recovery on their knowledge

Now it's been a few hours since compression bra came off and my pain level is back up. But I think it's because my muscles are having to work now... after all they've had 8 days off with very little to do. I've been using my heating pad and it is bringing relief...whew!

So BS also said there was more chemo for me to go on and Prejeta with the Herceptin....as well as Rads and pills and omg so many different things. I feel like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz... just follow the yellow brick road.... follow follow.... lol

I ordered 20 square bales of pine straw yesterday for mulch on the flower beds.  The doorbell range about 30 minutes ago and there I sat in my chair wearing my night gown.  The straw truck was outside.  I already had the check written out.

Now for the "fun" part.  Tomorrow I will begin weeding and mulching the flower beds in front of the house.  The whole time I will be grumbling to myself and wishing I had a gardener.  I was once a gardener but now a most reluctant yard worker.

I guess we have to be of good cheer about those weeds and yard work. Really hated not seeing that tree on the ground yesterday, but then the guy said he'd take the one next to it for nothing -- so maybe it was a good thing. I didn't like what happened to the yard, but hated even worse the possibility of what could have happened and so all's well that ends well.

We have more weeding and planting and a small amt. yet of leaf removal. Taking us longer since we are putting in other things as we go trying to get some ground covers down etc. It will all work out, but sometimes a hassle. We do have a clean septic system now and that is good.

If we weed and mulch enough -- who knows, we might ditch a calorie or two along the way. It seems to happen for me. I have eaten well, but not put on any wt. so hopefully with my fingers crossed while not working and keeping my mouth shut more often than not it will work out.

Warm today and a bit windy and cloudy mainly. We think no rain ( one report says some night rain -- another says none ) but we will only know that if and when it doesn't rain. I hope you all have a beautiful day and not too many weeds. I'll just call them wildflowers.

CarolHalston, can you please post a picture of one of the flower beds? I’m considering starting one myself but I’m confused about the straw... do you place it directly on top of the plants or around them... sorry , my ignorance is showing!!!

Aaaaahhhhhhh today is a good day 👍stated out where I left off last night... very uncomfortable but then I remembered my care package in the truck from yesterday. So DH went out and brought it in and I LLOOOVVVEEE this light compression camisole top!!! My discomfort lessened in 15 min and I feel like I did before my BS visit

Apparently the compression webbing wasn't enough support and this is just right. I can move and not feel useless... which is how I felt this morning. I'm going to fold some more of the laundry DH washed the other day. Some of it he will need to do as it's sheets.

Oh now JCPENNEY texts me and says my compression bras are in... 2 days past due!! Was wondering if they were ever going to make it to my local store.

I have some swelling in my left forearm last night...actually DH saw it but it's no swollen now so I'll keep an eye on it.

Sun is shining here today. Should be almost 80° today. Spring doesn't last long here in NE Florida a month maybe then its suddenly summer!

Hope you all have a wonderful day!!

Big mess in the kitchen this morning.  I forgot to put the plastic liner in the coffee pot last night.  Nothing to support the paper filter, so coffee grounds everywhere, even in some of the drawers.  Yuck and double yuck.

The purpose of mulch is to discourage the weeds but nothing discourages weeds indefinitely.  You put the mulch around the plants.  It makes the flower beds look neat and pretty, too.  The pine straw gradually deteriorates and becomes part of the soil, adding nitrogen.  Most of our common southern plants like nitrogen.  I was an enthusiastic gardener once.

Hang in there, Nanette.  Things get better.

Sigh !!! Rained last night, but sun is out today. It won't be as warm as the last few days, but the sun always makes me cheerful -- even in the middle of winter. Most of the yard is now mulched by lawn tractor, so it is looking cozy for two acres, un-cluttered and showing the vibrant green shades of Spring. Some small ( very small ) leaves are starting to pop out on the tree branches. All is well.

I have put down a bit of purchased mulch in my flower/gr. cover beds. I need a lot more. Also got some potting soil yesterday as I have some gr. cover that I'm going to put in a pot for this season. We are not for sure ( with needing trees removed and other issues ) just where we might need grass seed or gr. cover so have some of each to use as needed. Also have more periwinkle gr. cover for a spot where Dh got too close last yr. with the mower. I finally took old coffee cans ( with some rocks inside ) and make some barriers so knew I'd have to replace some this Spring. Dh is getting better about some of his carelessness since he is now fully retired. Shame on me, but I'm thinking he knows his being super busy is not much of an excuse anymore. Just great to see him being more mindful.

So, I'm into getting tidy in our yard which suffered with both of us working and I hope will start to get much better now that we have time to 'be' fussy with it.

I hope you are all going to have a wonderful day. Saying a big sunny hi to all who have not posted for a while, and hoping all is well with you.

I'm with the others Nanette. When I was doing all of my 6mos. of chemo and 7 full weeks of radiation long ago I had a goal. I had a lot of difficulties so it became a simple goal. That was to get through the next ten minutes -- and that was how I got through a whole lot of those now long ago days. I didn't allow myself to think past the ten minutes because it was sometimes overwhelming. It wasn't great but it got me through till I reached the point where it was much better. That is all anyone has to do --- hang in there till it is actually better. You are making such good strides and it will work out. You will soon be able to look back and be amazed at the things you were able to do. We don't always 'know' or 'feel' the amt. of strength and grit we have till we are called upon to use it. Hooray for you.

Muted sun along with hopefully some full sun today although it will stay in the 60's. Tonight it will rain again. Yech !! Well, it is Spring and that is when a lot of our rain comes. We will do the best with it we can. I was just hoping to get those trees out. We could take another path with the bucket truck but it would entail taking a fence down and digging up plantings -- and so I hope to wait for a dry spell. That is a lot of work and I do hate to disturb all of last yr.'s plantings that are just now trying to take off.

Hope you are all ready to have a beautiful day.

Realized I hadn't checked in for awhile, had lots of pages to read.

The Red River is doing major flooding again this year, #10 highest level ever. Only 1 bridge out of 3 is open to Moorhead. Because of our heavy snow this winter there is also overland flooding from the snow melting in the fields, many roads covered and bridges out. Tonight the news was showing homes completely surrounded by water, with the people using boats to get to and from their homes. My yard snow had just about melted and then this week we had another blizzard and got 8 more inches of snow. With the 40 mph winds I had a drift in my driveway that almost came up to the bottom of my window. It only got to 40 degrees today, even though it was sunny out, hard to heat things up with all the snow on the ground. I almost got stuck this morning backing into my driveway, the snow is so wet and heavy. I went out and shoveled a bunch of it out into the street so it'll melt faster.

Before the blizzard I did manage to get out and do a little birding, found a flock of swans and Snow Geese in a flooded field. Have had some new birds showing up at my yard feeders since the storm.

Sending healing prayers to those in active treatment. You can do this.

How necessary it is to cultivate a spirit of joy. It is a psychological truth that the physical acts of reverence and devotion make one feel devout. The courteous gesture increases one's respect for others. To act lovingly is to begin to feel loving, and certainly to act joyfully brings joy to others which in turn makes one feel joyful. I believe we are called to the duty of delight. -Dorothy Day

Rained off and on much of the day yesterday as well as the night before. Today, a beautiful sun and we will get to at least 70 degrees. So back to more warmth which will continue to fluctuate for a while. So glad to see the sun which gives me my total reason for good moods. I am smiling.

Most of our yard is done -- enough that I've started on my house again for many of the changes that are needed. We had several shelves of DVD's which I packed up and gave to a friend. I did go through them all to see if there might be any that I would want to replace on a CD. A few, but otherwise it is great to see this long needed change. Now I can take the shelves and tidy them up with wood polish and some doo-dads of varying degree to take up the display space. This also will get us to the point where we only have two smaller cases by each side of the t.v. My hall case will be used for something else.

I really don't want to have the rather lg. collection we had in the past. For one thing though I don't think there will be so many changes VHS/DVD/CD, as there was in the past, there are only so many movies I'm willing to watch over and over. So, rather than variety ( nothing wrong with that actually ) I only want the ones that will always move me in some way -- whether funny, sad, suspenseful or whatever. I think I will always love watching ( and I've watched it often ) " Trip To Bountiful ". I've replaced the movie a couple of times. The CD version will likely out-last me. So onward and upward which the sun outside makes so easy. I note as well the beauty of the Spring green so vibrant and full of life. It also lifts me up.

Hope you are all going to have a great Monday.

Today the sun is shining and it is cool and breezy out. Big change from yesterday as it was overcast most of the day and humid. I had DH open the bathroom window and the window screen at the front door to get a nice cross breeze. My nurse was here and I found out why I've been so irritated..seems DH likes tape when changing my dressings and he put some where I have creases (under boobs) and when she pealed off his tape there was SO MUCH RELIEF!! I still feel like I'm wearing and iron bra. I still have pain in my chest, under arms and upper back.... it is less than it was but still pain. Lots of tingling on backs of my arms and I can either wear no sleeves or long sleeves but short sleeves are out. Seems short sleeves are just irritating my arms...sigh

I need to finish off DH taxes and get them into the mail today so that's next on my list. Of course he can't find his last years taxes so I have to go and search for his numbers (AGI etc).

Hope you all are well today
