Thinking Out Loud.....

The tree is green but my Mom decorated it with pink ribbons, roses and white baby's breath, white crochet snowflakes and Angels. The tree must be almost 20 years old.
-
I hope you escape the flu - is this the respiratory flu or the stomach bug? Neither one is preferable, but I really hate stomach bugs...
-
Would love to see a pic of the tree, Deb.
I did a lot of heavy cleaning yesterday and my hips are sore from climbing up and down the stepladder. That doesn't explain why my wrist is sore though.
Both my parents have had diverticulosis and from what I've seen it is extremely painful. There are foods that should be avoided such as beans and nuts as the skins get stuck in the those pockets.
-
Is the wrist that hurts the wrist you weren't cleaning with? If so, were you holding anything in that hand? If you were holding something with your hand in the same position for a long time, maybe that's why it hurts? When I was staining all those folding doors in our basement a couple yrs ago, my shoulder blade area on the left side of my back was KILLING me. I thought it was from holding my arm in the same position for hours on end holding the cup of stain. While the rest of me was up and down on a stool and back and forth applying stain, that one arm was held in one position the whole time. I had to take a break from the project for a few days until it stopped hurting. I bought a bunch of the Thermacare heat wraps that you stick to the area that hurts for 6-8 hrs - they really helped. And outside the 6-8 hrs, I sat with a heating pad.

Cleaning is dangerous....just say no!
-
I wholeheartedly agree. Cleaning is hazardous to your health!
-
last yr.my PT told me to fire my cleaning lady...she told me to do it myself (except movin big stuff)
Those arm movements are supposed to be good for your body.In fact she told me to do my windows every day....yeah right.
right now im havin a LE flareup so all of that is out of the question but i did fire my cleaning lady.Everytime i see her i want to say COME UP I NEED YOU....but then i remember and i do it myself.

Got a bright idea this morning to make a wreath around a round antique mirror. It turned out pretty nice and I put a string of battery op LED stars in it. Took DH 15 minutes to notice glaring white stars and greenery festooned upon a normally plain wall & mirror.

Hi Just checking in and trying to catch up...
I wish everyone who is feeling down or sick that you will soon be looking toward better days.
Sheila, your plan sounds really great and am praying the timing will be just right. Am wondering just how much you'd miss winters in NY....
Meece, am glad you can make good use of your time between jobs. Enjoy your family while you have this break.
As for the holidays, I just booked travel for DS in Chicago back here for Christmas. We planned to go to DD#2 in CT and for the first time, her kids will be leaving early to be with their Dad who really doesn't celebrate Christmas....it will be an adjustment for all. And DD#3 will be passing by CT on her way to Boston so we'll have a short time together. I've learned to roll with it and I realize that families and life change .... it's up to me to adjust.
It's the week end....am trying to catch up a bit after subbing for a colleague all week on top of my own stuff.
Be happy and be well,Joan

Re: Murphy's Law - it's good to prepare for the worst (Murphy likes to hang around here as well), but I'm going to hope for the best that you don't have to deal with any of that again! Hi everybody!

Gee Val....i was just thinkin of you and here you are.
How ya doin?
And everyone else?
Its ugly here today...rainy,dingy,gloomy....just a day to tackle my closets....that should take about 2 weeks.
huggggggs to all my sistas....
-
Hello everyone!
Busy weekend, family Christmas Party today, photos on FB if your interested.
-
Granny, I did closets yesterday...it's a never ending black hole and then you gotta put the stuff somewhere...
Last week end was sooo busy and this one...it went so fast that I didn't get decorations finished and am still grading papers.
Am trying so hard to stay off the bread/pasta/sweets thing...so far OK but now my SEs are feeling worse. Guess my body is used to drowning in sweets.
I wonder if I can handle baking cookies without eating them! Maybe I should try to find a recipe I don't like....well, that won't happen.
Will be off the radar for a few days - just can't keep up - gotta finish up at work and have long hours. two more weeks, then it will be easier.
Hugs for all,Joan

The time is going by so fast! Spent last week working on cleaning out drawers and cabinets. Many more to go, but I've made a dent. Matt came to dinner Friday night and I offered him several bags of Christmas decorations and other stuff. He accepted and I have less stuff at my house! Win - Win!
The assistant editor of a magazine for my (or one of my) hobbies emailed and asked me to write an article last week. They needed something more for the next issue and needed by yesterday. So, I did what I do best, procrastinated until Saturday, then spent 6 hours of my potential weekend time with DH writing. We went winetasting yesterday, something I haven't had time to do since June, due to sewing taking much of my time.
More, housecleaning today, but I will head to Mom's to play with her embroidery machine at some point.
Anyone know how Sandy is?
-
Sandy is fine, thanks for asking Meece...you are so busy......love it.
the twins were 19 yesterday, can't believe it, party was a success....
think I decided what to give people that I can't afford to buy gifts for....thank goodness I learned to crochet and knit and sew when I was a kid it sure has come out handy....when my kids were young my mother made blankets for the of them (tommy actually got 2) well I decided a couple of years ago to do the same thing, so have made them for the grandchildren, made one for Jessie, Bianca, Giovanni and Andrew...then 3 more were born, so am on Zander's now, got some yarn for Charli's and then Lala's aka Jenifer.....I also made one for George and Michael.....feeling productive.....after done with them, I might make more....so how is everybody today...rainy here but in the mid 60's, love it.....
Sandy

I know how to crochet blankets and have done some since I was a pre-teen, but this year I am teaching myself to crochet doilies (aka snowflakes). My mother is tutoring me some, but I have never read that sort of pattern and have only successfully made two!
No job, so lots of time on my hands right now.
Glad you are doing well, Sandy!
-
don't like reading patterns of anykind so make mine up!!! My mother did doilies not me ever!!
