Thinking Out Loud.....

Loosen the dress while wearing or to stretch it before wearing? So it's buckling because it's too tight? It fits in all the other places... Hard to think she is proportioned weird. I finally read on another website why the dress size we needed was 2 sizes smaller than what we've ordered before. Apparently, formal dresses are 2 sizes smaller than regular. So instead of her being between a 2 and a 4 - she was a 00. And the other dress we ordered for the other prom was a XXS. If she is a 00 and an XXS, what do the smaller girls wear?! DD is thin, but there are smaller, thinner girls out there... But she does have most of her weight in her butt and thighs - like I used to until it spread everywhere else too - lol.
-
This is the dress with the offending zipper. That's probably why the model is standing like that - so you can't see the wavy zipper.
-
This is the other dress. Only it's dark teal not the pretty blue. Parts of it are black - so maybe the teal will end up being better than the blue... I think the blue is pretty though. Guess DD is into teal...
-
Love both dresses!
-
I was thinking that the zipper was pulling because of it being too tight, but seeing the dress, I would think it is more because the zipper was not put in correctly. Is it the whole zipper or just the bottom? When sewing on stretchy type fabrics, if the fabric is stretched while sewing it, the zipper (whose fabric is not stretchy at all) can make the fabric looked buckled. Could the seamstress try to re-do the zipper?
-
There are a couple of ripples in the middle of the zipper. The seamstress said the material stretches and the zippers do that. I'm suspicious that she just didn't want to redo the zipper - maybe she figures it would just happen again or might end up worse. The paperwork says if the dress isn't as perfect as I expected I could send it back and they would send a new one. Maybe I'll call again and see if they will send me another dress in the same size and I can choose the one that looks better in the hope that the zipper is done better on the new one. They aren't going to want to do that, I'm sure. I told DD just to have her boyfriend stand on that side of her. Or maybe I'll tell her to stand like that model with her hip sticking out - maybe that will work. Her friend said she wouldn't have noticed the zipper if I hadn't pointed it out.
-
chris...I know the situation is stressful but i couldn't help myself LOL when you said
<Her boy friend can stand on that side>
I love the color Teal. She will look beautiful zipper or no zipper chris ♥
Good Morning my friends
-
oh - I meant it to be funny. I'm always trying to find humor wherever I can - and create it if I can't find any. Unfortunately I'm not that clever, so my jokes are often lame.
And is the situation stressful or is it just me? I have really lost my ability to deal with anything anymore - the slightest thing pushes me over the edge. And I mean really slight. So I try not to do anything. But these kids keep making me do things! I think it's just going to get worse - I feel like life is accelerating as we get closer to all the end-of-senior-year activities.
So thank you ladies for putting up with me when I come on here freaking out about stupid stuff.
And I feel bad freaking out about stupid stuff when so many other people are dealing with much more difficult things. Like yesterday when I went on FB and saw my friend comment on a high school friend's post. He lost both his parents this past weekend within days of each other. And I'm freaking out about prom dresses?
-
Good afternoon everybody, stressing cause I have to go home, but it is time, and hopefully I can do it again with this disease you never know what it has in store for you and with chemo and that schedule, well you know...
drs. appt next week with chemo starting again my schedule is not my own!!!
Sandy

Chris, r e l a x........and sorry about your friend.....
-
Thats your goal Sandy!! To get to Florida again. I know you can do it!
-
Hope you get back to Florida soon, Sandy!
So tell me - do any of your kids call you "Dude?" My DD calls me Dude sometimes... funny, huh? Like during an argument, she will start a sentence with "Dude,..."
-
Yes they do and I call them dude too!
-
i'm gonna move to Hawaii and you're all gonna come and stay with me.
I was at the park this afternoon...what a beautiful day it was....
I have GF now.
-
yum! I'm having a protein bar. boring!
-
Yay! I want to go to Hawaii! But I probably won't want to come back.
Today was still a little chilly for me - I need to go to Hawaii!
-
Chris, If you wanted to try it, you could get some garment tape (the type that sticks to your skin and the garment) and place it down the zipper so it would stay smooth against her skin. Just an idea.
I harvested 1/2 lb of AG this afternoon! Yummy!
-
I'm not gonna comment on zipper because i don't know nothing about sewing
Good Morning from NY...............
Nothing changed since yesterday....and that's a good thing right?
-
Meece...I'm absolutely jealous about the fresh AG.
-
Me too. Someday I will grow some!
-
-
how is everybody?
-
How are you Sandy?? Are you OK being home?? I can't wait until your next trip to Florida. I want to hear all about it! ♥
-
If you plan on growing some AG one day, start two or three years before you plan on eating any. It takes a long time to get the AG patch producing well!
Deb, your Carebear reminded me of my DS3. When he was 20 mos. old he had surgery. He had 13 staples down his tummy, so he had a huge scar. We told him it was his Carebear. I rememeber one time when he pulled up another little toddlers shirt and asked her where her Carebear was.

I think I'm going to have to start writing things on my hands or something. Then how am I going to remember to look at my hands?! Went to change the date on a little calendar thingy I have. Thought today was the 31st - then I realized, no, Saturday is the 31st - yeah that's right - it's the Pasta Dinner DD will be playing at for jazz band - THAT I FORGOT TO SEND THE TICKETS IN FOR! OMG - I can't do anything right! AND on top of THAT - I had taken a little sneaker thing to give a gift card for sneakers for the social worker our church works with. I almost didn't take one because I thought I might forget to do it. But I took one anyway - wanting to give - and then I didn't go to church last Sunday and forgot all about the sneaker! DH and DS went so I could have given it to them - IF I had remembered - DD stayed home because getting home from chruch and leaving for the drama production was going to cut it close - I stayed home in case she needed anything and FORGOT about the sneakers. I am such a LOSER!
-
chris...You need to find a system that works for you.
Writing do things under the day of the week with details....
I do that.
Like...Pick up prescriptions on Wednesday and ask the pharmacist certain questions
or
You can also do THINGS TO DO FOR DD still using the day of the week.
I know it's difficult.
After everything done I think you need a vacation to clear your head ♥
Hugs
-
I knew that about AG Meece, that is why I've never planted it. I know, stupid reason!!
That reminds me, Chris, you asked us to remind you of something a week or so ago, but I forgot!
I have a calendar in my kitchen and I look at it every morning when I am sending the boys off to school. I would be lost without it!
-
I feel very confused today
-
well get unconfused!
Whats the problem Sheila?
-
There isn't any problems or issues...I just feel lost.
It's not a MH issue Thank God for that.
-
Here's hoping you feel found soon. ♥
