Good Morning. Snowing again. Had the crap scared out of all of us last night. My gutter, which is frozen solid with ice dams, fell off my house! It is now hanging still with the ice in it. It is an L shaped area of the house so the second part of the L is starting to rip off too. Not loving this winter so much!
-
Oh no! I can imagine what that must have sounded like. I hope you can get it fixed/get a new gutter soon. Not that anyone wants to have to spend the money to fix it - but one silver lining is that the gutter can't force the snow melt into your house if it's not there, right?
-
Brought my FIL home from rehab yesterday. Lots of dads going through tough times. ((((((((Deb))))))))))) ((((((((((Sheila)))))))))))

I want to go to that beach with you all too!
I hope you are right Chris. Hugs to your Dad, and Debs and Sheilas too.
I wonder what Meece is doing now?? I'm jealous!
-
If I ever went to Hawaii, I'm not sure I would want to come back...
Do you have someone coming to fix your gutter situation, Linda?
We found a small leak in our basement this weekend. A stain on our new ceiling. There was water dripping from a pipe. Not sure if the pipe is leaking or whether water came in from the outside and dripped down the outside of the pipe. I'm hoping it's the latter. It's in the wall near the hatchway. We're not even sure what this pipe is used for. It might be the pipe from the kitchen which would be bad. Would they have to rip out our cabinet and counter to get at it? I hope it's from the hatchway - that would be easier to fix.
If it's not one thing, it's another (said in a Roseanne Roseannadanna voice)
-
oh no! Not after all the work you've done to the basement! I hope it doesn't wreck anything else.
DH called my contractor who is sooooo busy. DH is going to Chicago for a short trip and will be back on Thursday night. I think he want to take it down this weekend himself. He's crazy.
-
Good for him if he knows how to put it back up. I'm sure it's not rocket science, but there is probably a trick to it - so it doesn't leak between the roof and the gutter and stuff. I wish I had a contractor. I wish I had a plumber at this point. Someone I can trust. I'm embarrassed to say how much I paid to replace my garbage disposal and faucet when the old disposal was leaking.
If it is a leaky pipe - as long as it doesn't get worse, the only thing that should be ruined is one small ceiling tile. Now it's my kitchen I'm worried about - or the upstairs - or both? I don't know what drains into that pipe. They should have to put together a schematic when the build houses letting you know what is inside the walls and how it is all connected. No, you have to guess.
-
Theres no way it's goingback up. It is destroyed. He is going to cut it off with a sawzall and deal with it later. Can't di much now with this weather!
Chris, are you near Bridgeport?
-
No, I'm in the middle of the state.
What a day. FIL is back in the hospital. Visiting nurse didn't like his breathing. Not sure if he was still this sick anyway or whether it's because he didn't take any of his meds since he got home yesterday. Nightmare.
-
MIL owns a plumbins supply company in Bridgegport. I thought I could get her to recommend a plumber for you.
Sorry to hear about your FIL. I hope he is feeling better soon.
Onc appt tomorrow.
Gutter is down and removed, pulled the other side off too. Now I don't have to worry about the damns.
-
CHris, I just realized you passed the one year mark. Congrats!
SHEILA!!!!!!!!! WHERE ARE YOU???????????? Are you hiding with Deb and Diane?
-
2 years and I missed it! Too busy worrying about in-laws and my mind has been more on my mammo in March than my anniversary. Thanks for noticing. (said sincerely, not like Eeyore.) Not that I have any indication anything is wrong, but you know how it is.
DH got the name of a plumber a coworker used. Not sure if he was able to call the plumber with all the mess with his parents going on. I could call the plumber - but he had the name and number. I hope they have some trick to use to find where the water is coming from. And I hope it is fixable in a way where I don't have to tear my whole house apart. If your MIL happens to know any good plumbers who are close enough that they would come here, I'll take their names.
-
Oh - and good luck with the onc tomorrow. Is this the appt in Boston you rescheduled from the ice storm?
-
((((((EVERYONE))))))
I'm home, my Dad seemed fine yesterday but today he is very weak and hard to wake up. Got a message from the Westford House saying Medicare will pay up to 20 days then it is going to cost him $141.50 a day. His other insureance has a $1000.00 dollar deductable which has not been met yet. I have to think of something if he has to stay more that 20 days, which in the past he has stayed for more that 20 days. I'm going to have to look into Medicaid.
-
2 years Dah! Not 1. It is so hard for me to count from 2009 to 2011. I'm still living in 2010!
-
Yes, we are all in a white penthouse on the beach in Hawaii
Sorry I have been absent - I am wiped out again. Tomorrow is my last day and I can't wait to be on the road to energy again. Rads has gone much faster and more smoothly than I ever thought possible. Yes, I had a crispy day or two but nothing that makes me regret my decision. Today was brutal, had to go to the breast surgeon for re-check, counselor for my anxious mind, a business meeting about our company and some warehouse changes, then rads and now the sofa....house is a pigsty but I don't care....
-

Hope you have a relaxing evening, Linda, after the problems with your gutter. I don't know what year it is myself. I have to keep thinking about it. Whenever I look at the expiration date on canned food, I have to think - ./11 - that's this year - okay.
