I hate war because..... -
I don't believe in killing another human being. Senseless. Ruth, it was WWII. His daughters are documenting all his stories. They hear something new all the time. Really hard for him to talk about some of it.
A fun thing I am going to do for myself soon is... -
Ann, my dad was in WWII and very involved with his units reunions etc. I had the privilege of accompanying him & 200 other area veterans on an Honor Flight to see the WW II Memorial in D.C.
I am going to Zumba in 45 minutes, which is really fun. AND I am going to say NO if I get called in to sub tomorrow, and that will be really fun too.....a day to myself!

One nice thing I can do for a couple nice ladies we met when my dad was at the nursing home is to go to their weekly Saturday afternoon coffee party & sit and visit with them, as they have no family to do so.

A pug. There are several in the neighborhood and they are so homely, they're cute.
Another favorite pet of mine is/was...
Ruth, that is so nice of you to visit the ladies. I have a such a soft spot in my heart for the elderly. They deserve love and respect the last years of their life. I bet you make their day. -
(I hear lots of good stories too......one sweet little old lady told me she had 5 children all born in August, and when I commented that it must have been awfully uncomfortable to be so pregnant at that time of the year, she said, "Well my dear, in those days we didn't have any birth control like today, we either crossed our fingers, or crossed our legs." I almost fell out of my chair!)
One of my favorite pets was my childhood cat, Samantha (after Bewitched which was popular at the time). She shared all my childhood and teenage thrills and woes.....and was always waiting up for me when I came home!
Something an elderly person told me that I will never forget is.......

I'm looking forward to Thanksgiving because..... -
It's my birthday, Chanukah and Thanksgiving and the three celebrations will not happen again on the same day for 79,000 years! I've decided that it will be a special day all around, full of love of family and friends. Plus my daughter bakes me the most wonderful desserts!
This year on Thanksgiving I am most thankful for…. -
just bring here with my family for another holiday season.......
