I think potatoes is still the side dish I would pick and would also pick Quinoa over rice.

(Ruth - going back up to your unanswered sentence)

"I really need a new"..................pair of brown/beige (summery) shoes to wear with work outfits.   But I hate, hate, hate shoe shopping - I have long narrow feet (10-1/2AAA) and usually have to choose a shoe that actually fits rather than one I "love".  Ugh.

Martin Luther King.....he was a great man doing great things.

(Ruth...totally agree on AL.....the country would have greatly benefited with this man at the helm to heal the wounds of the civil war rather than faltering with an inept Johnson who allowed the malcontents in congress to run rough shod over the south)

Wellwater, too bad we can't get together and talk about great historical things. I went to a seminar about AL and asked one of the Lincoln scholars whom would have been a better choice for VP in 1864. His response was, "Pick any name in the phone book."

Vicksburg, MS....this city was held under siege for 40+ days in 1863 and still bears scars.  July 4th was not recognized as a holiday there until the 1960's.  We stayed in several restored antebellum homes one of which had been converted into a hospital for the blue and gray during the siege and one which still has a cannonball lodged in the wall.  I could go on and on....

This might sound a little strange but a gal I golf with used to travel with a missionary group to countries in South America...she and her husband would go in January or February and rent an inexpensive house/condo near the beach....they would spend 3/4 days a week working on a new school or hospital being built...he would do construction work, she would teach English or help in a hospital.  Then they would take the other days in the week to explore and enjoy the area.  It was their way of "snowbirding".  I would love to spend a month or two doing something like this.

Since I can't go somewhere for a month quite yet, I'd like to plan a one-week vacation to...
