Oh, Cuties, speaking of dogs, my poor 15-year-old pooch has a torn ACL, which is a knee ligament that helps stabilize the knee when we go up & down stairs. Yes, humans have them, too. Poor guy. He's already got arthritis & back problems & I bet he tore the ligament one of the times he stumbled on the stairs. But he's on a good anti-inflammatory & he's adapting to the tear so I'm NOT putting him through surgery, not at his age. He may not be up to the Iditarod anymore, but he's happy & deserves to take it easy. His annual physical this morning was otherwise great. Hope I'm doing as well at his age (which in dog years is over 100!).
He also has an unerring ability to find and then nap in the exact geographic center of my bed, thereby leaving no room for anyone else to sleep in it. Julz pointed out that this is because it's really HIS bed & he's just letting me use it sometimes. Well, here's the proof of what I'm talking about.
-
KAK, one of our previous dog ruptured his cruciate........same one twice. (It was repaired and then the repair ruptured and was done again!!!) He was young. I totally agree with you that I would NOT do that surgery on an older dog. Unless things have changed a lot the surgery is pretty serious and the recovery is brutal. Sorry that it happened to yours.
-
KAK - What kind of dog is that?
-
These dogs are looking pretty thankful, don't you think?

This is my mamma kitty and golden retriever, Harley...
