Good morning Olivia and Karen
My prayer this morning is that you are continuing to regain your strength and you and your mom are resting comfortably. And that you will be going home real soon. I pray that it is TODAY!!
I noticed that 6,266 people have viewed this topic (of course some of those have viewed numberous times like I have but still that is a lot of people that your story has touched in a very positive way. God showed all these people that He is God and He is in control. Hallelujah to our Savior.
I will be sharing your story to my ladies small group Bible study this Tuesday. I can't wait!!!!
God is using you in a very special way.

Praying for continued strength and healing for you Olivia. Thinking of you and your family today.

Olivia update Monday, February 9th:
Yesterday doc said that they would remove her fluids today. But of course, God had a different plan. Her IV started leaking yesterday so they had to go ahead and remove it. The doc said not to put it back in and lets see if she can get enough fluids by herself. She is able to "eat" and drink. Of course it is a very little amount, but it is so awesome to see ANYTHING go in her mouth! She does have some discomfort afterwords, but it is to be expected and it is tolerated by her pretty well. They just give her the meds. They have "weaned" her from the anxiety drugs so that is a relief for me! LOL
This morning her official weight was 77 lbs. So the total weight loss was 13 pounds.
As of this morning, docs said she can go home tomorrow but not back to school until next Monday. Then they said she will only be released to go half days for at least the first week. This is for two reasons. One is she wont have the strength to go a full day, second is that her immune system is compromised and she will be susceptible to any and every germ until she has recovered more. And I think we all know a stomach virus would land us back here faster than we can say "what?"
We can alternate between morning classes one day and afternoon classes the next day. I will work with the school counselor for best "time slots" each day. Then she has 3 weeks of work to make up, plus not continue to get behind. Thanks goodness she is very smart and has good grades so maybe it wont be too difficult to get caught back up.
Dr. Muhanna (sp?) in Gainesville has offered to review her MRI for free! So I am going to get the pics and written results to take with when we leave here. This is not because they think something is still wrong, it is because Empty Sella Syndrome is so rare that any doc would want to see it. At least this is what I am assuming, I really haven't asked why he wants to see them, I am just very grateful for the offer.
So as of now, looks like this is our last day/night at "Scottish Rite Resort & Spa"!

Edited to add: P.S. Her older brother, Drew, has spent the whole weekend here with her and even spent the night in the hospital last night with us! He has been sharing her "angel" story with everyone! PTL

Karen- So good to hear from you. Glad to hear that things continue to improve--baby steps one at a time! I pray all continues to improve, that Olivia continues to find the strength to continue her journey back to good health. I offer prayers of thanks for this recovery and all the people who were in the right place at the right time to help along the way. I ofer prayers of good health for you and dh, that you continue to care for yourselves so that you are able to care for Olivia.
Praise be to God!

WE ARE HOME!!!!! Praise God, we got home around 1:00 today. She had a pretty good day yesterday. She ate cocoa puffs cereal, a ham & cheese sandwich, and about 8oz frozen yogurt. May not sound like much, but considering what she has been through, we'll take every bite with gratitude and praise.
It was probably a little bit much as about 10:30 last night she began to get nauseaous again. She held it off till about 12:30am then we went ahead and called the nurse in. She woke up about 5:30am sick again, we got more meds, and she has been good every since. I am not 100% convinced they have diagnosed her correctly, but she is still so, so much better than last week.
I am not gonna lie, I was terrified I was going to lose her last week. Her G.I. doctor told us Friday, after he had put in her feeding tube, that he couldn't believe she had made it that long with out food. She had deteriorated to the point of being in critical condition. She was a whopping 77 lbs this morning! I am so thankful God is allowing me more time with her. I am humbled beyond measure that God wasn't ready to call her home!
Thanks again for all the love, prayers, calls, emails, and PM's.
Maybe all these surprise illnesses are behind us now...................I say this because I didn't even celebrate my one year anniversary as a BC survivor on 2/1/09! I am going to white out February on the calendar........
