Hey Dawn,
I went to Dr. Duda the Tuesday after our lunch. Loved her and have scheduled my recon with her 10/5. I get a tissue expander put in then my fills and hopefully the implant by Mid January. I am also doing the R but with possible skin/nipple sparing and I can do it either surgery because I can go straight to implant with my good boob!Hugs

DIANE - That's great, I knew you would love her. She really is wonderful and has done such a wonderful job with my reconstruction - nipples next for me, probably in a couple of months. If you have your surgery on 10/5 we'll have to schedule our next lunch later in October so we can see how you are. Have a great vacation
)!!! HUGS, Dawn -
Dawn! Here you are! How are you doing?
Have a good evening, Judy xoxox
-
BTW, I my PS visit last week, they had a group of us go through a presentation together. One of the other patients said she had read that some people use skin tanner rather than getting a nipple tattoo. Though not permanent, I thought that was an interesting idea

Hi All,
I'm Beth and I live in MD. I was diagnosed about a year ago, had a masectomy of my left breast, finished chemo in July (YES!) and am currently going through radiation (17 left).
Diane (diddle20diane) posted your get-together pics on another board we both frequent (New - starting chemo in March 09) and I would like to join you all when you get together again, if possible. I'd love to meet others dealing with this and Diane said the get-together was great!
Hope you're all well.
Thanks and have a great day!
Beth

HI Beth!!! Welcome.

Welcome from me, too, Beth. We really did have a lot of fun. Looking forward to having you at the next gathering!

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Is there any "event" we could all plan to attend? As long as there is food involved, I am in...
-
anything to fill BCAM with something other than PINK!
-
I really do not mind the color pink. When my husband was alive he hated anything pink, so I perhaps have gone overboard with it. WE could have one section of " Pink Protestors " -- those who hate pink. BUT, I think you will ALL agree that we need to get doctors, family member, and the female population aware of the seriousness of Breast Cancer and its effect on our lives.
Last year I printed up stickers with "Breast cancer is a disease, not a marketing opportunity" and stuck them on displays of sickly pink products and foods. I even stuck them on shop windows in the mall that claimed to "donate" to BC research. And I managed to destroy (accidentally, of course) a display of pink Tic Tacs in the grocery store when my cart ran away from me and knocked down the display...
-
Hi All,
Thanks for the welcome.
I hope you all have a great weekend!
Beth
-
I agree about pink. It's not the intrinsic pinkness that's the problem for me, it's the marketing abuse. I like your sticker idea.
-
Someone else gave me the sticker idea and I ran with it. Carried them with me at all times. I used large return address labels and printed off of my computer.

HI THERE NOVA GIRLS!!! - Hope you're all doing well and those of you with kids, hope you survived the first week of school! I was wondering if we should start thinking about our October get together. Time is flying by and it will be here before we know it. How does the weekend of 10/24-25 sound??? The last weekend is Halloween so that probably won't work for those of us with kids. Any ideas, I know that doing a bc event was mentioned, anyone know of something that sounds fun? Otherwise we could do a luncheon again, if lunch then maybe Mexican this time since we did Italian last month. Post your thoughts and we can all chime in.
BECKY - How's chemo? When is your last tx scheduled?
New nipples for me on Nov. 9 WOOOHOOO, I'm so excited - I'm calling them my "november nipples" LOL
Hope you're all having a great month, looking forward to meeting again and having some new sisters join in.

Hi Dawn,
That weekend should work for me....I am waiting to hear from Dr. Duda's office on my surgery date for TE and implant on my "good" breast.

DIANE - When I saw Dr. Duda a few weeks ago she told me that she had met you. She is great, I absolutely love her. You will be so happy with your results. HUGS, Dawn

Thanks Dawn!

Hi All,
The weekend of the 24/25th should work for me. I look forward to meeting you all!

Hi Dawn and all,
The weekend of Oct. 24th-25th is good for me, too. I had # 5 last Wed. and am feeling pretty good now. Draggy weekend, though. One more chemo (Sept. 30th) then rads.
Looking forward to seeing everyone again.

Does anyone know of a really good Jewish delicatessen? not Irish corned beef, but Kosher corned beef. I have lived here 3 years and have not found one yet. A month ago I was up in Pittsburgh and my brother surprised me with a real Kosher Rueben sandwich on marble bread... sooooo yummy.
-
The 24-25 doesn't work for me, but please don't reschedule for me. It sounds like you have a good group together!

DIANE
BETH
BECKY
NANCY - can you make it, you posted about the deli but didn't mention the lunch? Hope you can. Sorry I can't give you any suggestions on the deli, hope you find one!!!
HUGS, Dawn

Dawn, I just emailed Lucia and Julie....will let you know if they are able to make it!
-
Thanks Diane,
Do you know if Angela checks the boards? I can call her if she doesn't. Dawn
-
Most any day is good for me. Chemo brain, one track mind, old age... There are 4 gals from my chemo group - only one reads the boards and we did Asian for our last meet up. But as long as it is food someone else prepares, I don't think anyone would mind Mexican. We might check any area if there is a BC walk going on that day-- traffic, crowded eateries, detours, parking, etc.
-
Julie is in! Don't care what kind of food either
There are several restaurants in that area if we are sticking with the same location. Coastal Flats, Rio Grande......Diane
