yay for hair for octo!
Trvler your lashes and brows fell out again after they grew back? How awful. Oh no! Did anyone else experience that? My last brow hairs fell out yesterday and I have a lot of new growth coming in. And I now have baby lashes that look colorless. Did anyone else have colorless lashes? Do they turn darker soon?
Kimmer, VickiRides, and Melclarity I was on ac-t and had very few bits of hard stubble I softened the, up with Aussie 3 minute miracle deep conditioner. I'm not sure if they fell out or just softened up. I am 5 weeks pic tomorrow and have soft kitten hair but I can still feel a tiny patch at my hair whorl that was hard stubble.
-
Shopgal, I've also had brows fall out. I think it's just that normally, they're on different cycles to fall out--as hair does, normally. But because they all come back at once, lots of them fall out at once. Maybe because they never get too long so are on a shorter cycle? Mine never fell out at once, though; they just got patchy. So far, lashes are hanging in (fingers crossed).

I lost all eyelashes and brows quite suddenly after taxol, but only the once, and they grew back quite quickly.... just as I was perfecting the smoky eyeliner look!
-
Watching the State of the Union address, and thinking that the President and I have roughly the same hairstyle.
-
OMG, that is so funny Peachy! I was watching thinking I wished I already had that much hair! :-)
-
my lashes fell out three times I think. Brows only once. I was grateful for eyeliner lol
-
My eyebrows made it through chemo, then most came out a month later and after 5 months have only come back a little. I never needed eyebrow pencil before, but, now, I am having to use one. I hope they still come back, but it has been over 5 months. Eyelashes came back, but not as thick as before. It is a wait and see game.
-
peachy - I was thinking the same thing! Haha
-
LOL @ Peachy2! Until my front hairline start filling in this week I said I had the same style as Dr. T from Boom Beach. If you're unfamiliar with the character, here's a pic
-
My eyelashes fell out 3 times and my brows twice following chemo. My brows are still very bare, and after giving it a year, I just had them tattooed a week ago. My eyelashes are thick but too short to curl, so I'm trying Latisse now for them.
-
Hi kpmacmill! I am in NH also - I live in Manchester. Your chemo is the same as mine, almost exactly a year earlier. I'll prepare myself for lash and brow shedding sometime in the next year!
justmaximom, that is a hoot! We have to laugh, and also be so glad that this is temporary.
-
21 weeks PFC. I was panicked last week, convinced my brows and lashes were falling out, but that didn't happen. I have had haircuts shorter than this in the past (that I paid for!) and today my husband said - you don't look like a patient anymore. Best compliment in a long time!!
-
Pennysgal - Looks fantastic!!!! OMG Im only 4 weeks PFC soooo looking forward to getting there!
-
I agree, you look great!!!
-
Thank you Mel and Sloan! My hair has always been very thick and curly/wavy - this new hair is supersoft and fine. I wonder if it will stay that way?
-
Pennysgal - Well you look fabulous!!!!
-
Pennsygal, your hair looks terrific!
-
Pennnysgal, Looking good....and so dark. Mine is mostly white!
-
May I chime in?
I lost a clump of eyelashes last week (6 weeks PFC), but it looks like they're already coming back. Eyebrows are another story: my natural hair color is strawberry blonde, and I've lost all but the blondest brows. It's pretty weird.
As for the hair: the hairline is coming. . . I can feel it!
This feels like a much bigger deal than it is. I like the advice to only check once in a while: I'm at 3x a day right now.
-
KateB79, I love your quote in your signature!
Here's to eyelashes that grow back shortly after they fall out. I thought I'd dodged the Taxol bullet but lost almost all of mine at 5 weeks PFC and was saying "All I want for Christmas is eyelashes." And now I have something to put my mascara on. :-)
-
pennsygal wow your hair looks so thick and beautiful.
-
Pennysgal - That sounds like the best compliment ever! Your hair is gorgeous!
-
Kate and Peachy - Aww I was a bit different, I got through the first lot of Chemo with eyebrows and eyelashes, I start Taxol and by week 3 I lost all my looong eyelashes and eyebrows. At 4 weeks PFC some eyebrows are coming back, but Im fair and I never really had eyebrows LOL but no sign of eyelashes?? Hair though is super slow around the sides and back can feel a slight prickle but not much happening. I'm thinking it is the Taxol that's done it more than the other.
-
Shopgal: It is common on AC+T to have your lashes fall out again. I have read up to a year. I can't tell if my brows are going again yet. They do some thinner.
-
I love seeing everyone's photos of their new hair! It gives me hope. These photos were taken 3 1/2 months post-final-chemo. That's a few weeks ago and now it's getting curly again. Wish it hadn't come back so gray!
-
Here is wig #1. I like it, but wanted to find one that looked like me.
-
and wig #2. really different!
-
Nice photos, Queen Celeste! I like your thumbnail photo, too!
-
Thank you all!
Queen Celeste, I love the gray pixie, and both wigs.
-
pennsygal and Queen....hair looks great.
Interesting day at school...new student teacher in the copy room complimented me on my haircut...she said I wish I could go that short....I said Thank you and after my coworker quit choking when I left she explained my "haircut"....
