Thanks all for your replies, I'm trying to catch up! Lots of good data here.

1) what type of chemo you had and how many treatments
4 A/C every 2 weeks and 12 weekly doses taxol. Just did number 10 today
2) Did you lose you hair - YES/NO
Yes
3) If YES, % lost (approximate)
95%. I shaved it to 1/8 inch as it started to fall out. Had a bit of stubble left that would come out if it tugged on it. It stayed the same length after I shaved it.
4) Did your hair come back curly? YES/NO with curly defined as wavy or curly NOT typical of your previous hair
Not sure yet, it is too short to tell.
5) Months PFC (post final chemo) and are currently curly YES/NO
Not there yet
but getting the colorless baby peach fuzz and now can see a shadow of my dark brown hair coming back. I started getting the peach fuzz a few weeks into the taxol treatments. The darker stuff came the last few weeks. I am excited and impatient. I am encouraged that it is growing even though I am not done with chemo yet but I want it to grow faster! I want to get rid of the scarves!
Omg so glad to hear that the white facial hair goes away. My husband pointed it out this weekend. I am going to shave it too! thanks for all the awesome info!
I have been taking weekly pictures of the growth the last few weeks and it is easier and encouraging for me to see the difference. Where are all these photos you guys are talking about? -
(1) type of chemo & # of treatments:
AC x 4 every 2 weeks, Taxol x 12 weekly, Herceptin with the Taxol and continuing Herceptin every 3 weeks for a year from when it started .
(2) Did you lose hair?
Yes. Shaved head between 1st & 2nd AC.
(3) % lost:
100%
(4) Did it come back curly?
Yes. My hair has always been curly and it seems to be coming back the same.
(5) Months PFC:
19 weeks. Curly, but a nice texture. Still wearing wig when I go out of the house. Using temporary no-ammonia color every 4 weeks because looking at short gray hair is way too depressing.
41 at dx and 42 now. -
(1) type of chemo & # of treatments
Taxotere & Cytoxin - 4 treatments 3 weeks apart
(2) Did you lose hair?
Yes day 21 - came out in clumps and shaved the rest
(3) % lost
all of it, aside from alittle tiny bit of stubble that hung on to the top
4) Did it come back curly?
too early to tell, but it appears to be straight except for a cowlick which is coming back strong ! - different color
(5) Months PFC:
roughly 2 months
Age
47 at dignosis, 48 now
-
44 at Diagnosis
1) 4 dd A/C every 2 weeks, 4 dd T/H every 2 weeks
2) Yes
3) 100% hair loss, all over my body
4) Yes, Came back SUPER curly. I always had curly hair. Texture is finally back to normal, and I have about 6 1/2"-7". Seems to be becoming more wavy now, less curly, as it grows and weighs down.
5) I am now 17 mos. PFC

Yes, JoanQuilts, nice update on your avatar photo.

m4babies i never shaved my head. I looked like a little bird the whole time I was on chemo. I had shoulder length blonde hair at the time and it all fell out except some strands all along my hairline. I kept those cause they looked good under a hat. Without the hat it looked pretty creepy though. I tied them all into a tiny pony tail on top of my head. When the new hair started to come in they broke off.

Has anyone had problems with acne on the scalp since you lost your hair? I get sporadic red bumps that are sore at first but then flatten out and heal over the course of a few days. sometimes they have a small pus spot. For some reason I havent gootten any facial acne since i started treatments. No complaints there, guess its better on the head than the face.
Maybe the scalp pimples have been there all along, just not seen or felt with hair to cover...

jpmomof3
Me too! I just figured it was from sweating so much from wearing my wig.
-
I also had scalp zits from time to time during chemo. Haven't noticed any since my hair began to grow back, but as jpmom said, maybe it's because the hair covers it. I went years without any facial acne, but since chemo ended, it seems to have flared up again. Aggravating, especially without hair around my face to camouflage the spots.

Ladies,
I'm just home from my first visit to the big girl chair (went well, by the way) and nurse said hair would start falling out in clumps by day 18. Even though that 2.5weeks away, I am considering calling my hair gal and just doing it now-- buzz to pixie length. My hair is already short, like about 2 inch layers , so going shorter for me is no biggie.am a kind of curious to see how much gray I'll find. Been coloring 20 years and last year eve had it long to the shoulders, but I it went short with it this year, BEFORE I was diagnosed. So what the hey, it's something different and kind of fun so I'm up for it.
I should also be honest and say I have several wigs already cause I've always liked to change up my look and I do so with wigs, and now am adding scarves and caps to the mix. For me, the hair thing is more of an adventure, whereas I know that for some others it's a really emotional loss. Now, losing my eyelashes and eyebrows, that's a bummer for me, but I do have. A back up plan for those too. I hope you are all having a good day.

Since your're used to wearing wigs you're way ahead of the game. You have an excellent attitude.

Face fuzz, mine kept getting thicker and longer til I couldn't take it any longer, I'm almost 4 months PFC, I used olay facial hair remover, but really it's like nair for face, I did fine with it and what a relief to be rid of it.
-
Glad i am not the only one iwth the scalp zits and facial fuzz. blech.
Gemmie, I buzzed my hair as soon as it started falling out the even tiniest amount. I thought of doing it the first day of chemo too. I thought it would be easier to be the one to do it rather than watch it fall out in bits and clumps. I was the one in control that way. No decision is wrong though.
I kinda like having having no hair, for a while anyway. no shampoo, no conditioner, no blow dryers, no cuts and styles. it shortened my morning routine about 15-20 minutes. More sleep! Not that I am not looking forward to it growing back mind you. but it isnt ALL bad. the scarves are fun and add color.
-
Thank you, the Divine Mrs. M! I can't wait to look like you.
-
Jpmomo,
You have a beautiful shaped head and are thin. Gals like you can definitely pull it off.
MyLeftBoob,
Thanks, I try to keep it positive.
Can someone tell me where to go to learn how to upload an avatar picture?
I looked but maybe not closely enough. I'd like to post the now me and in a couple of weeks , the new me! This part is kinda fun! -
Thats my good side, there's a dent on the other...lol.
To post an avatar go to "my profile" at the top right of this page and go into the settings tab. there are a whole bunch of settings you can change including the avatar. there is a button for uploading one. Have to do it from a desktop though, it wouldnt let me do it from my ipad.
-
I just tried to upload an avatar and a message comes up that says "not included in list". Am I doing something wrong?
-
m4
you may have turned off the function of allowing the avatar to be public?
-
Ipmomo,
Bummer, can't do on iPad. It"s so much easier on iPad for me to find the pics I like. Oh, well, maybe later I'll give it a shot. Too tired tonight.
Blessing everyone. Sweet dreams and no SE's! -
rn4babies - that error message is because your picture file size is too big. Try to make the file smaller and that should get rid of the error message. I had that problem when trying to upload a new avatar from a picture taken with my new camera, and these many-megapixel cameras make big .jpg files.
-
How do you make the file smaller? It is already set to public.
-
Yvette ~ About a page and a half ago, you asked me how long ago I did the CVS facial hair thing....I was not online for a day or so and I missed it until now! I did that about 10 days ago. So far so good

LuvRVing, Your new avatar looks great. I hope you feel as good as you look.
-
rn4babies to make a picture smaller you either have to look for some kind of photo editing software on your computer (PC:microsoft office, microsoft tool/microsoft pictured organizer (look for picture/resize. Not sure what MAC has but they do have something. Sometimes even your printer came with photo editing software) or do a google search for free editing software.
-
If you upload your photo to Flickr, you can then download a smaller size to your computer, no additional software required.

Calling all Latisse ladies,
A couple days back some of you were discussing Latisse for eyelashes and brows. I am still 15 days out before i start to lose any hair, but I went ahead and bought some. My question is, should I go ahead and start using it now do you think? Or should I wait til later after hair loss to promote regrowth? It is expensive so I hate to waste it if using it know won't really help. That'd be like throwing money away.
It seems like one of you posted that you started using it right from the get go and that it did help. Am I right?
By the way, day 2 after first chemo, feeling great!
But now I have to go get the Neulasta shot.
-
Gemmie--Glad to hear you are feeling good thus far. Hopefully, this continues for you! Sending good vibes your way.
I, too, am interested in how soon people started Latisse or Smart Lash. Latisse requires Rx. Gemmie, did you have your MO prescribe it?
