Shatzi - ANY hair is real hair dammit !! lol. I actually have alot of dark with the white, so I'd have to shave the colored hair along with it. also, the white I have is not fuzzy, it's the same texture as the darker hair. I've heard of people just dying it when it gets long enough. I think that's what I'd do...Hair is hair..I'll work with it !!! :-)
-
Momine...did you shave off the fuzzy stuff before the darker stuff started to grow? Mine is all intermingled now...too late for a shave.
AEM47...I agree...hair is hair but MY fuzzy stuff is far softer than the darker stuff. I had the same thing at the back but it has started to get thicker and darker so I guess I will just grin and bear it till it ALL looks like real hair. The white stuff feels like bunny hair.
-
I got the white fuzz after my 3rd treatment, I considered it real hair! I could feel the wind blow through it!
-
I dyed my white hair. I wasn't about to shave off a millimeter of my new growth!!!
-
Yes, I caught it before "real" stuff came in.

Wendyspet: My hair is almost white and I have not colored it yet: All the men in my life: my husband, my sons, my brother, they all love how I look in white hair. Also my twelve year-old daughter likes it. I am going to leave my hair like that for the next couple of months to see if I will get used to it. I am using Nioxin to see if it will help to thicken it. So far, it seems to be helping.
-
MKW1,
My hair also came back in mostly white and everyone loves it. I like it too. Hairdresser said she wouldnt color it if it was her hair. I use the Nioxin #3. It has more conditioner in it. Makes my hair really soft. I just had mine evened up. I'm 10 month PFC and have a couple of inches.

Just wanted to write a quick update and thank everyone for the kind words and encouragement. I'm writing from my desk at work and, yes, I'm officially topless! It's actually pretty awesome and everyone at work has been wonderful. A few have even asked to touch my hair. I've obliged, under one condition. If they rub my head and later find out they've won the $540 million in the lottery tonight they have to split it with me!
-
GR4C1E yeah for topless! It feels great doesn't it?
-
My new avatar is as of today, Sunday will be 4 months PFC. I've been going topless since the beginning of Janaury, but I am finally starting to feel like I have a little bit of a hairstyle again.
-
I never had white fuzz, but I did have a bit of "chemo stubble" - hair that did not fall out, but it turned white and crispy. It continued to grow, and now the ends are brittle and not very healthy-looking. I have a lot more gray/white hair than I did before chemo, and the area around my temples is mostly white, which gives me the look of a receding hairline - not pretty!. I bought a box of temporary color, and plan to try it this weekend. If it turns out OK, I guess I'll go ahead and schedule a trim to neaten up the ends. Still not ready to go topless, though - my hair is completely uncontrollable right now.
-
Bethcw - love your avatar! Your hair is looking great!
-
Beth, I will be four months pfc on Monday and it looks like you have lots more hair than I, you lucky girl.
-
Auntienance, oh my I finished Nov. 1, so that is 5 months PFC.....can I blame this on chemo brain? - lol
-
Lol Beth, that's ok, I just realized I'm 17 Weeks. I will if you will!
-
Excellent, GR4C1E!
-

Ksmatthews, liberating doesn't even begin to describe how I feel today! A coworker said, "If you put that damn wig on again today, I'll whip it off and beat you with it! You look fantastic!" LOL I was so nervous walking into our morning meeting, but everyone complimented me on my new do. Nobody had an unkind word. I underestimated them and I'm so happy for being so wrong.
-
bethcw, you look fabulous.....and Gr4C1E, yay! It's like lifting your hands up in the air when you're in the front car of a roller coaster.....wheeeeee!
-
I found the best ever eyebrow "pencil." It is from MAC and works sort of like a cross between a marker and brush. It also comes in a color that actually matches my weird coloring perfectly.
It was actually a wonderful friend of mine who is a total make-up fiend who found it. I told her about my troubles and she promised to fix me up, which she really did.
-
It's 7 months PFC, and I spoke with my hairdresser about doing a keratin treatment next week, so I can switch to a regular baseball cap without the attached ponytail and bangs. I guess its time, even though I feel like its too short. I'm really nervous about this - although to be honest, my bangs are about halfway down my forehead, and the sides cover my ears,. It still feels weird to be unable to put my hair into a ponytail, and I can't wait until its long enough. That's probably when I'll start to be able to move on, when I get MY hair back.
-
I'm just over 6 months PFC. I'm ready to get a real haircut as I always keep my hair short, especially in the summer. My bangs are still pretty short, but another month and they'll be perfect.
