Popping in to put out an "alert" that I've started two threads for Saint. One is on the stage 4 area and one is under "Prayers"

I've just gotten off the phone with her and she's really feeling VERY poorly. She went in for treatment and after discussion, all were in agreement, that she should take the day off.

As you know, tomorrow is Luke's high school graduation.

I've never heard Saint cry before. We traded being in tears. My turn. Her turn. My turn. Her turn.

Please continue to express your support & concern here, but if you can navigate to either of the other threads, I know that it will bring her comfort to see expressions of love poured out for her.

She is simply unbeliveable. Her name captures much..... it doesn't illuminate the gritty, hilarious, resilliant, naughty, nature of her -- but it does capture her perseverance in the face of horror.

Kathi, can he have his whole lung removed? My Dad only did part and of course the cancer spread and he died! His regret at the end was not just taking the whole thing out...and my Dad was 'lucky' as his was on the right so there was no damage to his heart during rads. Everytime I think about this I get angry as he would be alive today, yes, with only one lung, if he had just thought it through. My brother only has one lung due to a childhood illness and he's fine! I get kind of passionate about lung cancer, sorry if you didn't need to hear this...

Let me tell you that in the fart department YOU ARE POSITIVELY WITHOUT EQUAL ...I am an expert farter from way back when, I think I inherited from my mother (who used to positively scandalize us with her morning bathroom visits, we'd all go hide!).  

 

And the positively worst thing is they happen at the worst possible time...at the most intimate moments..

 

And by the way, KAK, this is Mizsissy (aka Linora) one of my best buddies in the fashion thread.  I had made face lift and it's the best thing I ever did for myself!!

Barbe, I don't know many details at this point about my friend's lung surgery, but you raise an excellent point.  I will have to ask him.  I'm so sorry about your Dad, but glad your bro is doing well.  Lung tissue, fortunately, has a lot of redundancy, so people can live very nicely with one lung, like with the kidneys.  Thanks!

As John Merrick said in the movie, "The Elephant Man,"  "I am NOT an animal, I am a human being!"  People were poking at him and mocking him in derison and some humor.  That was a great film.

Dear Saint:  Prayers go up for a good day with your son and graduation.  ((((((((((( saint ))))))))))))))))

I opted NOT to do rads for many reasons I will not bore you with.  Then the rad onco had the nerve to phone me and ream me out about it and said something like, just go get a bi lat mastectomy and you wont have to worry about rads.  That was not the last straw - her nurse assistant has phoned me 5 times to "make arrangements for rads" (I did not answer, but messages were left on machine) - so, I blocked that phone #...    

I used to run a senior citizens lunch program, and the farts from the "ladies" were far worst than from the men.  Maybe it was from trying to hold them in until one HUGE one let loose.

MY IOS for today, I forgot I was to meet a friend for lunch yesterday and realized it at midnight.  Gonna phone later today and try to make an apology.   I do not remember her having a cell phone, so she could not  phone to see if I was still at home.   

A big THAT SUCKS for all who need it.  HUGS.   Nancy

Nancy, I just have to pipe in and hope your friend is more forgiving than mine was a few years ago when I forgot we were to do something together.  Her reply was "well, I guess you remember the important things".  Needless to say..........she is no longer a friend.  Sigh, perhaps she never was.

(((((((((((Nancy)))))))))))  Listen, Nanc', I and all of my post-menopausal friends have short-term-memory deficits, even tho' I'm the only one who's had cancer, so we are all constantly forgiving each other for forgetting things.  It's part of our bond!  If your friend doesn't forgive you, I'd suggest you start hanging out with a slightly older crowd.  LOL

Girls. Just a word of the outcome for Saint & her son's graduation.......

She was unable to attend the graduation.

None of it, in fact.

She will need your support now more than ever.

Please continue to think good thoughts.

It is the excrutiating exhaustion/fatigue that seems to be the biggest issue.

Saint- I missed my son's first steps because of radiation.  Nothing's ever going to make that better, or give me back what I missed, but I am here for him for his next steps and every step he takes. And boy oh boy can my kid walk!  Nothing's going to take that away from him either.  Same for your son, nothing can take away the years you put in together to earn that graduation, nothing can take away his accomplishment.

My son's too young to understand why I couldn't be there, but your son knows, and your son also knows you are there for him when he comes home.

Just be there for him when he comes home and tells you all about it!  That's the really best part!

My heart is heavy.  My friend has missed the event she had her heart set on.  I hope she knows the love that we are sending to her.  I dont know about finishing the rads.... will it do more harm than good.  I am so sorry I recommended this....

I am not very familiar with anybody here but I greatly appreciate what Saint did right before she got so sick.  She jumped in and helped with a close friend of mine who has had mets for a number of years now. Saint just injected a little extra positive energy and good feeling to give her back that little extra oomph that it took to pull it out of the depths.

What you feel is mourning and grieving at the same time.  Guaranteed to make you depressed.  Not a good time to be at your best to make choices.  The world is spinning without a handle.  You are in prayers, as are the ladies on the boards and their loved ones.  It seems that the "Make A Wish" for adults is, "Lord, don't let my dear one suffer a long time, be merciful, kind, and love my person with your grace."

Saint - Your heart was with him.  The dearest people in my life, be they on earth or in Heaven are WITH me.  I lost my great-aunt who was a beacon in the storm, and God sent me a friend who has her sparkle smile.  Nothing takes the place of someone or some event in our hearts, however, there are many places to fill that give the heart strength to await the next sunrise.  I am sorry that you were not up to attending.  I am at a loss for intelligent speech.  I do know that a lady as strong as you - he felt you.  That I do know.  You are in him forever.

Dream, dear friend, you did not recommend the rads for saint. You only told her your own experience. The doctors recommended them. Please do not hold yourself to blame!
