200 pages of LIFE'S A BEACH!...
THE ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM
By Terry Kettering
There's an elephant in the room.
It is large and squatting,
so it is hard to get around it.
Yet we squeeze by with,
"How are you?" and, "I'm fine,"
and a thousand other forms of trivial chatter.
We talk about the weather;
we talk about work;
we talk about everything else-
except the elephant in the room.
There's an elephant in the room.
We all know it is there.
We are thinking about the elephant
as we talk together.
It is constantly on our minds.
For, you see, it is a very big elephant.
It has hurt us all, but we do not talk about
the elephant in the room.
Oh, please, say her name.
Oh, please, say "Barbara" again.
Oh, please, let's talk about
the elephant in the room.
For if we talk about her death,
perhaps we can talk about her life.
Can I say, "Barbara" to you
and not have you look away?
For if I cannot,
then you are leaving me alone
in a room - with an elephant. We all live w/ that elephant in the room...but together we hold hands, hold faith, hold one another and continue to be strong! Here is to 200 more pages on the LIFE'S A BEACH thread...and I THANK you for not only welcoming me, but each other with open arms!
Much LUV

Hi everyone, I see I'm not alone anymore. No more tooth pain and it didn't hurt my pocket book to much either. The teeth were the very back ones, and old at that, so not to much of a loss.
The grand babies are brother and sister. Sebastian will be 2 on December 11TH and Hayden will be 1 on May 12TH...... Very close in age. My son was married for 5 years before the first. They were not as careful the second time because they were so long getting preg the first time. Surprise!
I will be taking Sebastian to the fireman's parade tomorrow if it doesn't rain. I will post pictures if all goes well.
Lisa I love the flower pictures, I can smell that rose from here.
50 first dates is a very cute movie....I loved it.
Celia, that motto means a lot in my world. "Wisdom is seldom found in beauty , nor youth" is another .
Sending hugs all around to each of you.

how was the onc appt? Everything good I hope.
Mary Lou, you have kept the beach hot for us today with all your beautiful pictures. thanks
Sahalie, where are you? Please hurry and come on to the beach and talk to us.
Julz of the beach, I know you are sleeping. Tomorrow I am sending you something via snail mail so keep an eye out.
Faith, are you productive today? Sewing machine working good. I have a brand new sewing machine and have not used it at all because I can't get the tension right and the thread breaks and I get so frustrated with it. Sure wish I had my grandmas old threadle pusher, thats what I learned on. Have no idea what happened to it, she died many years ago. I still miss her to this day she spoiled my rotten (the only one that did)
Can't wait to hear from Saint and Dreamwriter about their adventures
Biker, do you ever come to turner falls park in davis, oklahoma? They have a biker thing once a year and the town is so exciting then with all the motorcycles everywhere. I was wondering that about wings also
Wings, where are you? missing you
Jaz, if you still read know you are being missed.
foots, hoping to hear good news from you? hugs to you sweetie. You are so special.
Luv2cmp, what are you up to today, hope you are feeling well.
Luv are you and Harley getting into any trouble?
this is for all my breast cancer sisters
I wrote this early today but couldn't post it, so now I am getting to post it.
Adding my goodnite and sleep tight, we just got home from 5 to 7 soup kitchen, was really surprised we only fed about 60 people tonight, was disappointed, then went to a life group meeting, they are such a wonderful group of people. We are all having a campfire friday night to cook out hot dogs and smores. Should be fun.
and another hug for foots.

Whoooooooooooooohooooooooooooooooooooo 2000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000!!!!!!!!!!
i woke up today with bounce in my heart -- similar to bounce in your step, but since i was still in bed, it was in my heart........
tickled that we're 200 pages strong
delighted to be under care of a capable physical therapist
THRILLED that my book project is nearing it's birth
grateful that my daughters are happy & have wonderful men in their lives
excited about upcoming travel adventures
proud to be out walking regularly w/my neighbor-friend & rededicating myself to my wellbeing
well that's sure enough about me
i just wish i could bottle these feelings........ i think it's due to all of the optomism & support around the beach that i'm in such an upbeat -- dare i say "joyous" mood?
(maybe it was from sorting thru all the possible 'hump day' pictures -- looking for a couple that were rated G: LOL!)
Celia, i do have a manual for my new machine, but, what i was installing is 'off-the-grid' as in something so high-fallutin' that it's not in the manual..... and it came with NO instructions. the first time i used it was in a class & so there were some accomplished quilters who helped me install it. anyhow, earlier this week i was on my own..... thought i was gonna have to take the whole contraption to the store to sort it out, but since i KNEW it would work, i stuck with it till it did.
MaryLou, thanks for the specs on the precious ones. My daughters are close together & i've always appreciated that.
Lisa, omgoodeness, thank you for sharing your "trade secrets" ......... i think that i understand what you're saying...... now to attempt some experiments. Learning from the master............. wow. talk about kindness!! i give you the 200th page award for sharing.
Everybody, let's meet spar for her hot dogs & smores tomorrow night............
Oh, wow. I just realized what else has me smiling..... tonight we get to join our friends for our ballroom dance fun. Tonight is "Roaring 20's"!!! We're so often out-of-town, but we're going dancing, we're going dancin' ...............
must see if i can preserve this happy high

I'm finally in the 21st century!!! We have high speed internet and I can see all these neat pics. Never could with dial-up 'cause it took so long. So now I need to learn how to post pics. Have a great day everyone. I'll be busy looking at the 200 pages from this thread.
......oh ya, and unpacking.
-
SHARON!!! Happy welcome to the beach. Pick up your flip flops and join the fun.
So glad that you've turned the pages & joined this century.
You'll love it here. There's an extra chair down by the shore.

WOO HOO!! to 200 pages of the BEACH!!!
I am celebrating today is my ONE YEAR anniversary of my LAST chemo!!! Yippee!!
Thanks for checking on me, Spar!! I have been kind of busy, trying to get unpacked from my trip to Cocoa Beach, and doing all those things you gotta do after a trip, like tons of laundry...
I will try to get caught up soon.
Luv, that was a very nice poem you wrote there...I also want to thank all Ya'll for taking me under your wing, and making me an official member of the BEACH FRIENDS club, with my very own pair of flip flops!! You are all such wonderful, caring women, and I love you all!!!
Hugs
Harley

Ohmygoshhhhhhhhhhh. Just walked in over here at "Loons-R-Us" and the FUNNIEST of all funnies had just taken place. Fortunately DD Sarah had filmed the whole thing: HILARIOUS.
The entire four minutes of the video both twinsies are SCREAMING the whole entire time -- as a backdrop for the mayhem......
Sarah is 'looking for WB' and finds him in her room, she's been doing laundry and her underwear drawer is open.
There stands WB with TWENTY-SIX pairs of her underwear around his neck and he's wearing a pair of white spankie girdlie pants.
There's a chase scene and then they take off the panties -- counting as they go!! (Make something educational outta the madness.)
I've got to find a place for her to submit it.............. it's really a hoot!!
Besides she needs to have blackmail material ready for his wedding reception.
toooooooooooooooooooo funny...............
wish i could figure out how to share it with you!!
this is close to the right idea:

LOUISE BROOKS was it her Faith?
I was in a play in my young years and had to perform the charleston. It was the best! I still love to dance to this day. I clog and have taps too! I pick up dance very fast....guess that is why I love it so much.

Harley

Took this pic last weekend @ Pusser's....... right across the waterway from the Naval Academy (in the background.) The sail boat is THE boat that was featured in the movie: "Wedding Crashers." I think if we hurry there's enough room for all of us on this evening's sunset cruise:

Hi Shining Shells of the Beach that is forever changing like sand does as it blows and twines
with the winds of sea breeze and of the moon and tides. Ebbing here Ebbing there.
I just returned from an annual girls night together for food. Talk. Laughter. Tears. More
laughter. More food. And local wines.
We were out at magical Sea Ranch up north of Bodega Bay.
It's a yearly reunion of friends and sisters.
Now I have to switch gears and get in motion for the packing of the carry on. That's all I bring.
