Goooooodness. I was just here and now I've missed the whole revival by sleeping thru the night???

Norm, it's great to have you sharing so much. WOW..... what an amazing life you've lived. Thanks for sharing your background with us -- it fills in so much.

Glad that King James has carried you thru the years.

The more we get inside those covers and read, the more sense it makes. Faith is what carries you thru the ups and the downs. The more we share -- the more we can reach out to one another in the great challenges that we face.

Glad that you've made it this far....... Let's come up with incredible adventures in this new year ahead!!

    Take care.

    Happy New Year.

    Good Morning Angel Watchers,

Wow, Norm, what a gift you've given letting us in to see where you've been in your life and how you found your faith.  Like Sharon, I don't consider myself religious, meaning I don't feel an association with one religion or another, but I do believe in the Universal Life force, which I imagine is what others call God, Buddha, Allah, etc...and I do believe that the Universal message is the same...LOVE.  That's what you've offered us with your words, and what we offer you and eachother in return. Thank you!!!

I'm off to San Francisco for the New Year..a last minute decision. We got a good deal on a room at the Hyatt Regency with a Bay view where the fireworks will be visible. WhooHoo!!!  We'll spend two nights and spend our days seeing the sights.  The Steinhart Aqaurium was just reopened after a huge rebuilding, so we'll most likely check it out while we're there.

As 2008 fades, exhausted by the challenges of getting a nation to see how far off track it was and to finally remove the blindfold, America blinks and squints painfully as its eyes adjust to the light of reality, and the way has been paved for the Devine 2009.

Bette Midler is going to love her!

You didn’t think I’d send you into the new year without a poem, did you?

    The Devine 2009

    Reminiscent of a 1940’s pin-up,
her upswept silky chestnut brown hair,
makes her thick-lashed doe eyes stand out
against a back drop of pale porcelain skin,
lightly rouged cheeks, and a rosy full-lipped mouth.

Elegantly dressed in a black satin,
figure fitting sleeveless gown trimmed with
shimmering gold accents along the bodice and hemline,
she descends the twelve-step staircase, as if floating,
just as the clock strikes midnight.

Everyone looks to her as she gracefully glides
to the center of the staircase with a breathtaking smile

that assures all who witness her that Devine 2009
will bring with her long awaited change
and the beginning of a new era.

Her striking features would ordinarily bring whispers
accusing her of being all beauty and no brains,
but not now, for we are more aware of the importance
of looking beyond the media glossed surface of things.
Something about her elicits our confidence.

Her message is simple for it is borne of universal truth…“Now is the time to work together for the betterment of all, rather than for the few. Our planet, our children, and our elderly need us to ensure they will be well cared for and loved now and far into the future.

We need to see our community as one global community rather than one nation trying to gain or to regain power. We must become a community of nations, siblings born of the same life energy, doing what’s right for the family, so that all may benefit equally, no one more important than another.”

As the clock concludes its inauguration ceremony,
Devine 2009 draws nearer to the last step, and
as she does, her visage begins to change before our eyes.
Her hair now lustrous silver, and her face
although still luminous, now shows signs of age.

“Ah”, she says softly, “In my youth, your past, my beauty captivated you, but my words fell on deaf ears as you frolicked in your prosperity. A gift wrapped beautifully is more often easily received. I offer my wisdom and a gift, a rare, pivotal-moment opportunity. Do not squander it.”
                        Happy New Year
                        All my love, Kimberly

Faith - SLOTH (running around with grandkids counts)

Hmmm, this is not the format of the poem on the original. It should all be 5 line stanzas, but the site won't let me fix the lines. Poopy!

Norm, i really enjoyed your post about your journey with your Bible.  Thank you for sharing that with us. I agree with everyone who has said that you are really moving forward and i think it is wonderful that you are holding out your hand to others and helping others in the process. I wanted to wish you and everyone on this thread a very happy, healthy, prosperous New Year with many joys to come, good lessons to be learned, and questions to be answered.  It has been a long hard year for all, especially for you, Norm. Let me say it loud and strong:

    H-A-P-P-Y N-E-W Y-E-A-R!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love crossing this new threshold together. I love looking in the rear view mirror and see all that has saddened us receed further into the backdrop. That allows all of the wonderful memories and joyous occaisions to be even more present and spectacular -- popping right into our very midst.

Norm. You made it to 2009.

That is a statement of fact. I know that you squarely considered the alternative and yet you chose life. You chose despite the circumstances that robbed you of the loving embrace of the woman who'd seen you grow and change day by day and decade by decade. I know that our cyber-caring is no substitute in any manner for Brenda's presence, but we collectively send you our caring anyway.

We chatting gals, just love seeing and reading your story. Thank you for unveiling additional chapters as you are able.

I think that your story would make a good book, or maybe a movie. Of course you are in the midst of writing the amazing conclusion. The redeeming portion, where the audience cheers and drys their eye at learning of the overcoming that you did in climbing out of the valley -- to head to the mountain top ahead.

May we all stand together on this sojourn that has assembled us.

Happy and Healthy New Year to Norm and all those who read or post here.

(((((Norm))))) you'd better start writing.  It will keep your fingers busy.  No time for cigarettes.Wink

I'll buy a ticket for the premiere. We'll all sit together in the front rows. Norm will wear a tuxedo and arrive in a Harley parade.

    Now who will play Norm?

    Tom Hanks perhaps.

    Robert DeNero?

Could Dustin Hoffman pull it off?

What about Brad Pitt as young, lost, angry Norm?

    The possibilities are endless.

    Good Morning Angel Watchers,

Happy New Year. San Francisco was fabulous!!!!  We had front row seats via our room for the fire works. There were 50,000 people in the streets watching the fire works…may I say, I was thrilled to be in our room watching rather than in that crowd.  Our windows opened practically the full length of our wall, so we had our own balcony-like experience.

We spent the next day walking all over the city. We walked to China Town and then on up to Union Square.  If I had a choice where to stay in the future, it would be at the Hyatt Regency Embarcadero as it was so close to everything.

Friday morning we headed out of town after breakfast. We had hoped to go to the rebuilt Steinhart Aquarium, but the lot was full when we got there at 11am, and you couldn’t even get into the park. Another time.  So, we drove up to Mill Valley, a cute little town and walked around, then had a late lunch in Sonoma before heading home.  It was a great little trip, much needed before heading back to school on Monday.

I still have narratives to read and grade, and new seating charts to do before Monday. Guess I’m under the gun, now…and I lecture my kids about procrastination…geez.  I do have one class set graded, I just have one more.

Puppy!!!!! I was so excited to see your avitar!!!

Norm, have a safe flight tomorrow.  Hope you find something fabulous for a price you can afford. Can't wait to hear all about your search and what you choose in the end. So, did you pack up your things and store them for now, or will you wait until you find a new place to live?

Happy New Year to you all!!!!

Off to grade papers and get that seating chart done.

Norm. Just dropping by to wish you well in your search. We are all here in the background, sending you encouragement..... even when you're away from the computer, putting the pieces together.

Puppy, it is such a thrill to see you back among us. Take your time in returning..... we all want the best for you and your total recovery. It's so hard for me to say that, cuz I just LOVE seeing your posts, but I can learn to be patient.

Angel-Watchers, it's great to see everyone continue to stand by our Norm.

KimberSIS can't remember if I thanked you for the poem. Always inspirational.

Suz, Footie, Sharon, Celia big hugs and prayers to each of you!!
