The newest version of Jergens  "Natural Glow" has been improved considerably in the odor department.  You need to start with the "Medium" skintone color to start making a difference though.

If you want to ck out a product: go to Make Up Alley---folks from around the world comment on all kinds of make up and fragrance---also about facial plastic surgery.  You can click on Product Review and fill in the blanks and Usually, get several honest opinions about any form of makeup, etc.

I, too, have seen some bad tats on brows and other facial colors.  It just like going to a plastic surgeon---gotta see the results of the practioner to make a decision about choosing one.

I only need to color two white hairs in my brows.  They've been there for years and, thank goodness, I haven't noticed I'm sprouting more of the same.  They must be the salt in the salt and pepper mix.

I have dark brows, at least dark against my skin tone, so I really don't need to color them, but I've found that using a clear brow gel (I have Lumene at present) works great for brushing them up and then they fall back a bit but still look better than if they are just lying in a straight line.

I have a colorless mole inside one of my brows that can look like a bald spot.  Ugh.  That's also where the white hairs are growing from.  I've found that using a crayon (waxy) eyeliner pencil goes on easier and stays longer than using an eyebrow pencil.  The challenge is finding a good color, not too dark.

Re: tinted tanners.  I have read, and found out myself, that if you have really pale skin as I do (and Raye) that they make your skin look yellow.  The Clarins gel I bought a couple of months ago does stink but it turned my legs a decent pale tan color.  Since I didn't need tan legs in the winter, I let them go but will start using it as soon as it is warm enough to wear cropped pants which, HOPEFULLY, will be soon.

Temps will be in the 70's and 80's in the Northeast this weekend.  Maybe time for a little judicious tanning of the legs and arms???  Raye, your area should be sizzling, too.  Sit outside for a while but cover your face and chest.  This mamma is OLDER than you so I can be bossy.

I saw the greatest color of pink nail polish (cream, not pearly) in an article in the UK InStyle mag.  Of course, there is no mention of it.  It only gives mention of all the jewels the hands are holding.  Rats.  Now, I'm on a mission.

I never did get to Sephora last week and my girlfriend and I forgot all about it!  I am just going to have to go back to the mall.  It's about an hour 15 minutes away.  I hate driving alone for something like that.  Maybe I will take an audio book out of the library to keep me company.  Any suggestions for a title?  I have to read Crow Lake for my next book group meeting but I can't find an audio version of it in the regional library system.

Do you have a drug store nearby? Sally Hansen has a great color of light light pink but more cream polish which stays on very nicely and helps my nails grow. it is called Miximum Growth plus. My color is Pearl Wisdom and I love it for summer. You should check it out.

Hey Girls,

I ordered a tanning gel from QVC. I really like it! No scent and goes on easily. They even through in gloves to apply the gel. It's called Tan Secret. Good product!

ARGHHHH never in my life have I had skin problems (well, I can have dry skin, can be sensitive but never had acne, pimples etc)..not during puberty, pregnancy, stressful times NEVER. All of a sudden this week I am breaking out, don't know why and silly as this may sound, I don't even know what to do about it, no experience. waaaahhhhh Never realized that not only do pimples not look so good, they can be uncomfortable.

ewb, maybe you have an allergy/contact dermatitis to something?  Has anything changed?  Do you have a habit of touching your face?  You could be spreading some allergen around.  I discovered years ago that I was breaking out on the sides of my face because I was twiddling with my itchy earlobes (cheap earrings), the nickel was dissolving in the oils of my fingertips and then I was unconsciously touching my face, leaning on my hands, during the day.  That spread the nickel/allergen onto the skin of my face and viola!  Breakouts.  Once I chucked the cheap earrings, the breakouts went away.

Still have not checked out makeup alley as I keep forgetting.  Sounds wonderful!

Raye, I happened while flipping through the channels last night to see on QVC a demo of Flawless tan that they have. It looked promising for what you are looking for in a self tanner. Here is the link to the product.

I think I accidently copied the auto delivery number and not the one time number. The auto delivery would ship a 2nd bottle in September. They were showing that you could use as much or as little as you wanted and it comes with an applicator brush to smooth the lotion on and blend it in so you don't end up with dark/light spots and your palms don't turn colors. They also said that it has no odor. I can't afford it but for someone who wants to keep that bronze look it sounds promising.

Thanks Sheila and Lexi for your recommendations on tanning products. $65 gets me a month of unlimited tanning. I know...so bad. I still have some Loreal Sublime left (won't say from when, because Beth will advise that I pitch it ) - I will use that on my face and arms and then eventually I will go here and there to the bed.

Tina - one bottle left of Zoya and I am keeping it! It's my favorite and still not globby.

Tina, my Sally Hanson in Pearl Wisdom looks like that color after about three coats. LOL. And it's not pearly, but a cream. Also, I think OPI has some new summer colors out, one of which may be something like the color in the pic above.

Tina- I was just at the store (Acme - a grocery store here) and they had an OPI display. one of the colors, "At First Sight," was a creamy cream color.

I just went to the OPI site and they have this great tool where you can "try on" any of their colors.  You just click on the right skin tone, then nail length, then the color you want.  This is great, although I'm sure it isn't totally accurate.  Pretty good for ballpark.

Some colors I found there that might be similar to the pink above are: Otherwise Engaged, Isn't it Romantic, Italian Love Affair.

When I use lighter pale colors, I tend to go for ones that have a more whitish tint then a pink tint- b/c you never want to apply more then two coats, and sometimes the pink tinted ones are a little too pale.

Raye, I just finished reading an article all about tanning salons and skin cancer, and it was all the refreshment I needed to avoid it like the plague. But, I will still feel jealous when I see pics of your tan body.

Chuckle at Dr. Doodle. But I must say your analytical nature is why I always come to you for advice- b/c you are so sound, and thorough, and I adore that about you.

I used that Loreal Sublime self tanner this am. Tina, you are right, it does have a not so pleasant smell, but gives a little bit of instant glow.

Silicone strip report:  This thing is great!  No word of a lie, I've been using it for, what, two weeks? and the raised parts of my abd scare are going down and down.  For instance, there is one are at the left side that is about four inches long that was raised, red and rough feeling.  Now most of it except at the very end, maybe an inch, is almost perfectly flat, fading from red to beige, and smooth and soft.  The scar is a year old, so it the strip is working on a somewhat old scar, not a brand-new one.

The BB revision is improving, too, but that is a new scar.

I think I may cut a narrow piece of the silicone strip and use it on a slightly raised and pink area on my boob.  Can't hurt.

So, a total thumbs up on this product.  Oleeva Scar Shapes, silcone strips http://www.silon.com/Products/OleevaScarShapes.htm Pricey, but it works.  I think I should post about this over on the surgical and recon threads.

Now, back to real make-up.  What is a good ridge filler for nails?  Opi's has polyurethane, Zoya's has silk fibers.  What about others?  The one I used once, several years ago, may have been Opi.  Can't exactly remember but I probably got it where they sell beauty supplies and they had Opi.  Couldn't have been Zoya.  But, formulations do change.  I remember the ridge filler I used was kind of thick and gloppy and milky looking so I couldn't use sheer polished over it.  I need recommendations.  My thumbnails look like crap.

Raye it was a huge article in Women and Cancer magazine. It's in the drawer of my desk at work, and I'm off today- but I'll get you a link soon (tomorrow I'm getting a new computer for work, so I will be offline most of the day).

The article is long- and it talks about what the UVB tanning lights do to you from the inside out. Also, it even talked addressed if tanning is addictive, (something we've always talked about) and what the American Dermatologist Society or whatever its called has to say about skin cancer from tanning beds. It talked about radiation you get other places in your life- and how tanning beds compared... it wasn't like scare the crap out of you type article-- but moreso just an honest, hardcore, factual look about the damage from tanning. It even talks about what the tanning salons will tell you- like why it's good for you etc... and it debunked a lot of those truths...

Tina- Don't know about a good ridge filler. But I'm very happy about the silicone strips!!!

I went out and bought a new bottle of Loreal Sublime tinted self tanning lotion in medium hue, since they didn't have the dark. I just had to try some when I got back to the office and must say, it dries very quickly and the tiny smell is almost pleasant! Much improved in my opinion.

Anastasia is one of the few that carry ash tones, too.  Perfect for me.

Just bought a new moisturizer this weekend at CVS.  I was looking for a day moist. with SPF.  The lady in the store suggested LaRoche Posay.  They are part of Estee Lauder but cheaper.  I think she said EL bought them.  They're French, of course.

Anyway, this one with Anthelios SX is supposed to last a long, long time on the skin and be a pretty good broad-spectrum filter.  If you're going to be out on the water you might want to also use a titanium dioxide layer with it.  It is moisurizing enough for my skin which is pretty normal, not so dry and doesn't feel heavy or slick on me.  It's also for sensitive skin.  It does contain parabens so if you are afraid of those you won't be interested.

Beth, did you see Clinique now has a mineral powder that is supposed to reduce redness?  Saw the ad in InStyle.
