Hmmmm. I don't know. But I would wait until my brows grew back before tattooing in case the tattoos hurt the hair follicles.
-
Hi... remember me? I have missed you girls! BIG TIME! I quit my job and therefore, do not have the need for much make up lately...but I think about you gorgeous girls ALL THE TIME...
Hey Tina... I LOVE Clinique's Aromatic Elixer... have you tried the body lotion and the shower gel? It's FAB in combo with the perfume.
Do you all have an ULTA near you? Dang... I got an ad in the mail... any purchase over $10... you get a free robe... just so happens... I am buying gifts for a mother and daughter who are in a homeless shelter. The mother asked for something from Ulta... I would never have gone there... but when I did, I saw the free robe offer... sweet! So... if you have one in your area... take advantage of it!
Oh well... glad to be back with you...
-
Tina, I love your new shades. And BTW, they remind me of those worn by another Tina I like, namely Tina Fey.
EWB, if you haven't already looked into them, this link bears repeating; free stuff & some good advice for BC-ers; see if there's one coming around where you live:
-
I have an ULTA near me! I'll take a robe and make a purchase. I could use some new makeup and hair stuff in my life. I'll report back after I go there tomorrow.
-
Hi Laura, nice to see you back! Did you quit your job entirely, or are you just back to working some from home? Big changes!
Do you need the ad or a code for the robe w/purchase? We do have one not far from where I'll be on Wed. and I need to look for that Photofinish w/ color corrector anyway. Decadron is not kind to the complexion in any way!
Lisa
-
Laura, HI!!! We have missed you, too. I hope you come back often. And, yes, I do use the cream, etc.
What's an ULTA? I guess I'll have to google that.
-
Lisa did you try any new foundations or light tinted moisturizers to combat the decadron flush???
I've been following your posts on the mets forum, and you continue to inspire me every day. Keep us girls over in makeup land updated on your treatments, and of course which product finally is the one to get rid of the RED!!
Tina- ULTA is a cosmetic/Hair store. It's almost like going to the floor of the mall with all the makeup counters, but it's in a very large store. ULTA was out long before Sephora existed. And the one near me has tons of people who apply makeup, and style hair, and then they sell a million and one products.
-
Thanks, Beth. I haven't picked anything up yet. I thought I might go to ULTA and see what they have tomorrow after work.
Work - hah! I have been able to work a total of two days this month. Tomorrow will make it three,Lord-willing. And then NADA until the week after I've been to LA in Dec. And who knows whether I'll be able to work even then, with seared brain and all!?!
Sorry - this is all just to say that I hope the Photofinsh with tint is inexpensive. And a small bottle. I'm not buying stamps in bulk either.

Tried the L'Oreal tinted moisturizer yesterday. It performs fine but is scented! Like most of their products. I don't know why I didn't read the ingredients before buying it. I really cannot stand fragrance in cosmetics; talk about in your face.
Well, it was "free" so I will pass it along to someone who can use it. Will use my $15.99 "bucks" to buy some batteries on sale. With $20 battery purchase, you get $15 extra "bucks." Maybe I can keep this thing going indefinitely. Such a Yankee.
Checked online for ULTA locations. None around here. Closest is about 1.5 hours drive. Bah, humbug.
-
Lisa - I want to 2nd Beth's comment. You truly are an inspiration and are in my thoughts and prayers. They may have a small bottle of green, let me check...Okay, the bottle is $38 at Sephora.com, the bottle is 1 oz (apparently the only size available). They also have a Try Me sample pack, which comes with a 0.3 oz primer, but appears to only come in clear in the set - so that won't work.

Laura - Welcome back, I've missed you! How are you doing?

Lisa-- no bulk stamps? What's next, no green bananas? If you have ringing in your ears it's not the 3cm piece of sh*t tumor in your brain, it's me talking about you. Oh, and guess what? I HAVE MY FIRST CAVITY!!!!! It's in a weird spot too. Upper row, three from the front tooth. WTF!?! They saw it on the x-ray, and said there was some decay?? I'm confused. My gums were all 2's and a few 3's, and my mouth feels great, and now a cavity. I'm getting it filled in 2 weeks. I've requested laughing gas before the injection. I figure, I might as well feel good. I stopped premedicating when they changed the MVP pre-med rules for cleanings... but does that mean I can still not pre med before drilling?
Sorry girls-- Lisa has been my online resident dental go to girl since my bright smile fiasco.
So, you know the physicians formula eyeliner that looks like a felt tipped marker I'm always raving about? I put it on my lower eyelid yesterday, and lined the inner eyelid with white liner. I did it!! I achieved the biggest looking eye I've ever seen. AND the best part? The liner doesn't smudge or rub, b/c it's very much like a liquid.
Tina- I DISPISE things with fragrance. Especially on the face!!! What are they thinking?
-
AH - I thought that I had great teeth with my ONLY 3 cavities - my first being found at 19! Guess not.
"I ACHIEVED THE BIGGEST LOOKING EYE I'VE EVER SEEN." LMAO at that one. OK Cyclops, let's see a pic. -
I didn't think to take a pic. If I decide to put makeup on tomorrow (while I wait for the cable guy) I'll take one.
and that's Miss Cyclops to you.
-
Hmmm Beth. I'm not so sure I have confidence in this 'cavity'. Call your office and ask what tooth # and what surface. I am skeptical of decay between the teeth in a 'virgin mouth' (yes, that's what you do have
). If it goes, you will nothave to premedicate for the procedure. The infiltration anesthesia (the injection) would be absolutely painless if I administered it, and the Nitrous Oxide will have only entertainment value. They'll charge you standard for it, so make sure you get plenty. Warning - you tend to fall in love (briefly) with whomever is caring for you and you will have great insights into momentous truths - also only briefly.
I love the stuff - I believe I will still try and check out that way when the time comes. Not to be morbid - it's a panic-free, good-feeling, mild euphoria until your brain just runs out of oxygen. You can even be talking with loved ones, saying your goodbyes and reasonably communicative right up until. . . Can't wait to see THE EYE, Missy

Right on! Let's see the eyes, Beth. Surely you make up every day, don't you? I cannot imagine starting my day without a bit of buff and puff even though it's usually only the squirrels and chipmunks that see me. It's always on those days when you look like a rag that someone pops in. Anyway, it makes me feel better. Every little bit helps, especially when I'm feeling mean.........
I remember as a kid having dental work done, preceded by the laughing gas. You get this funny smell and all of a sudden everything goes dark and you are swirling around in a vortex with unidentified stuff, going deeper and deeper until..........you wake up and your daddy takes you for a coffee cabinet (Rhode Islandese for coffee frappe) on the way home.
Really, the Novocaine injection into your gum only hurts for a little while. About two seconds and it's over. I agree with Lisa about wondering about the cavity. Maybe you could have it checked again by someone else? OTOH, chemo does things to a mouth. You never know.
I've decided I really don't like my new glasses. They hurt the sides of my nose. Going back today for adjustments but I think these will just be a standby pair in case of emergency. Botheration.
-
Thank you for suggestions, here I go jumping into girlie land with both feet

A recent Animal Planet show was all about the squirrels and chipmunks in Mass and their overt friskiness. Now we know why.
Hair - I am loving my hair lately. It is finally starting to get to a length where I can do stuff with it, like make it really big. I love lots of hair.
-
Illustrative pictures would be nice, Raye. It's such a milestone when you are not just dealing with post -chemo hair but actually enjoying it.
Tina - your childhood memories of Nitrous are waaaay different from what Beth may expect. She will feel fabulous. She will not be 'out' in any way - she'll be able to carry on a conversation easily. And I was serious about the injection - when properly given, preceeded by a topical gel anesthetic, you will NOT feel it. No couple of seconds - nada.

I'm not too worried about saying anything stupid when i get the gas. My dentist has been taking care of my mouth for 26 years. Before I had my big surgery, he bonded the back of #7 and #10 to make sure they didn't crack anything when they intubated me. I had a space next to my front tooth. Not too big, but I never wore braces or anything, and it was bothering me. He fixed it for me on the spot. I do feel weird about the tooth that the cavity is in. It seems like such an odd place. Also, because i'm right handed, the left side of my mouth is healthier- the gums, everything- from the way I brush, so I'm surprised that I have decay on that side...
-
Hey, Lisa, I'm sure you are right about the gas. Don't forget, I had mine about 100 years ago! It wasn't unpleasant, though. Just outa this world. LOL
I'm so glad that they stuff a tube down my throat during surgery while I'm under. God knows what I would say if given the opportunity.
-
Okay, I've found my Ulta store! Thanks for the heads up.
Feeling virtuous, throwing out mascaras.....
Doncha just hate it when you do hair and makeup~~~and doctor's receptionist says "Your appointment is tomorrow" Fried brain again, after 7 hour exchange surgery?
-
Lisa - Maybe I'll take some pics over the weekend of my hair - went out with the girls last night to celebrate my BD and suffice to say, the hair is not big nor looking good today.
-
Hey, Raye!! Happy Freakin' Birthday!! Hope you had a great time. Kathi

So for 2 days straight I have worn full makeup- even though I wasn't going any where. For me- big accomplishment! Found Phys Formula felt tip eye liner today-plan on play time tomorrow.
-
Happy Birthday Raye!!!!
I saw a commercial tonight, and I can't wait to run around town looking for the new loreal double extend mascara in a white and I think red tube... It makes your lashes extend like fake eyelashes when it drys with some new technology... I will absolutely report back and tell more!

I actually went to Sephora yesterday! In search of the color-correcting Photofinish. After my tale of woe, the assistant recommended the Stilla finisher over that one. But I'm not easy to convince. It did look rather green, but the Stilla had no color in it at all for my poor decadron cheeks. So she gave me sample dabs of each to bring home. The product feeks like the Lauder Idealist Skin Refininsher I had been using (for 'occasions'). They all three are essentially simethicone to create that 'slip'. I bought the Stilla transparent Hydrating Fininshing Powder (loose powder) It gives a nice 'finish' and is weightless and not makeup-y.
Just as my skin looked great on chemo, it looks like the devil on steroids.
And I'm getting the 'moon face' - sheeet. I need cheekbones!Lisa
