Northern California Get Together Dec 15th - Sacramento
Comments
-
Hi: ChicoTrish suggested a get together in Sacramento on Dec 15th - her suggestion is in our earlier discussion about a get-together over the summer that didn't end up happening.
It would be great to see as many as can join us - right now chicotrish, grace and I have responded and are planning to go - I thought that if I started a thread with the specifics we might get some visibility and hopefully more people can join us.
we'd love to see you - please let us know if you can join us!!
We're meeting for lunch at Fat City (Old Sac) at 1:00.
Here's the list of who is planning to come:
ChicoTrish - confirmed
DoreenF - confirmed
bygrace - confirmed
Hattie (?)
Straycat - confirmed
Mattsmom - has to work - will not be able to join us
Lexi (?) - will join us if the couch gets delivered in the morning
karenann - confirmed?
Gayle - will try to join us
snewl - will try to join us

Hi Doreen,
Are we meeting at the same place as last time? Is it lunch?
I can't wait. It's been so long since the last get together..
Thought I'd respond to your post in the hope that others will respond also.
Take care,
grace -
Hi Grace: Yes... it's lunch ... and I think we should meet at the same place we held our last get together ... they were teriffic - and the food was good - I really enjoyed it and can't wait to see you again.
I hope we'll get some others to join us as well!

Perfect as I'll be finished with one more semester on December 10 and able to relax a bit. I'm going to hit "submit" and go put this on my calendar NOW!
Trish

I'll call to try to get reservations at California Fats, same place as August 2006. WaHoo! It'll be great to see everyone. Other Northern California survivors are most welcome to join us.

Thanks for setting a place and date. I'll be in SF that weekend, which is way closer than my actual home, and I'd love to see you all again, and meet new faces. Will try.
Take care,

Absolutely! I'll be there.
I'll contact MsPooter - am sure she'd like to attend but haven't seen a response from her. How about Casey? Would love to see her new 'girls.'
A few people I've been corresponding with have left the board since the new format. I'll try to find them. Wish me luck.
Thanks so much for setting this up. Let me know if there's anything you'd like me to do in prep for the 15th.

Yes, I would love to be there.

I am hopeful to make it, too! Would really like to see all of my Nor Cal sisters!

I'm updating the first post with a list of who's planning to join us. Hattie and Lexi - I've added you both as questionable right now - please let us know when you know if you'll be able to join us.

My DH says to meet up with you all, but my kids may have other plans. I'm still a wannbe/maybe.
I hope we can all meet up at the Healing Journeys conference in September at the Memorial Auditorium in Sac. I went to one in SF and it was fantastic, fun, inspirational. I expect to be volunteering at this one. It's free, with great speakers, events, organic and luscious food, music, performance, massage, art, for cancer survivors and supporters. (sorry, I have no clue how to add a link with the new system). One of my favorite things was playing the taiko drums. Also lunching with other moms with bc.
Take care,
--Hattie -
here's the link to Healing Journeys that Hattie mentioned
http://www.healingjourneys.org/pages/events_css.html
Hattie - to create a link copy and paste the URL into your post - a window might popup that you have to paste the web address into - once you've done that and the URL appears in your post - Highlight the URL and click on the icon that looks like two chain links (connected) - towards the middle of the icons at the top of the entry box where you're posting.
paste the url into the first entry field (link URL) and select the insert button - hope that this explanation makes sense.
I'll add the Sept date to my calendar for next year and hope I'll be able to go!!
Doreen

Thanks Doreen! I'll try that next time.
Take care,
--Hattie -
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!
-
I called Fat City last weekend to inquire about the private room. We'll need 40 for them to reserve it for us, but if we have a smaller group they'd be happy to accomodate us with some other arrangment. We'll have to decide about this when we get closer and have a better idea of how many of us there will be.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Trish
-
Last year we had less than forty and were seated in a large room with 2 or 3 other groups, all smaller than hours. I thought it was perfectly fine.

Hi Girls -
I just happened to stumble on this thread and couldn't help but notice the screen name ChicoTrish!
It caught my eye because my dh went to Chico State! A few years ago we flew into SF and drove up the coast (stopping at the FAB Sonoma Mission Inn and Spa) all the way to the campus.
It was so nice! That part of our country is gorgeous! On campus we had a big ol' burger and a beer at a hamburger "joint" my dh said he frequented in his wild and crazy college days!
Just thought I'd share this with you. Have fun at your get-together!
-
Hi Laura ... that's sooo cool that you've been to Chico and to Chico State and that your dh went to school there ... it is a beautiful and very friendly town ... I'm guess you had that burger at the "Madison Bear" -
were there lots of signs and objects hanging all over the place ??
I went to school at Chico state here ... then lived in the SF Bay Area for a whole bunch of years - before moving back to the Chico area.
If you ever decide to come back to the SF Bay area or Chico again let us know ... I'd love to meet up with you!
Doreen

I'm in! I will need to call Fat City and give them a head count. I'll send out emails to everyone tomorrow night. Wish you could join us, Laura.
Trish
-
I think I would like to try and make it to this, get together. What time were you thinking?
Karen
-
I will be there. What time do we start?
Can't wait to see everyone.
I have pictures of my first and new grandbaby girl. I think I've fallen in love again. I can't get enough of her. My new addiction.

YES! It was the Madison Bear! OMG - that's so funny! My dh said he got waaaaaaaaaaaay too sloshed in that place many Friday nights! LOL We also went to a huge park that was located on a river (?). It was gorgeous! He grew up in Petaluma (sp?) and then after graduating from Chico, he too worked in San Fran until he was transferred here in Illinois! Had he not gotten transferred here...he and I would have never met! : )
Yes, if we visit your neck of the woods again - I'll definately let you girls know! Again...I love Northern CA...It's soooooooooooo beautiful!
Have a nice get-together! Be well...
-
Welcome Karenann!! We'd love to have you join us. I think we were planning for lunch at 1:00 ... how's that sound ??
Grace - so glad you're planning to join us .. and I'm really looking forward to seeing the photos of your beautiful granddaughter!!
I'm really looking forward to saturday!!
Laura - the park you're talking about is Bidwell Park... it's huge and wonderful!!
Doreen
