Let's conduct our own study on how we all got breast cancer

I know, I know... That's why my credit card debt is so high - I bought BC and ran them up. Makes sense since I will be paying for it for a long time, just like my credit card debt.
-
WIOW! Will our daughters then develope Bratz and Polly BC?!
-
In my case it was my BRCA2+ and then probably billions of other different factors.
Yes, I played with Barbie, I was born in a home that also was used as a working place for my father the wood smith (imaging all the possible pollutant there), I also drank exsessively much of the wonderful Tab drink until it was changed......so did one of my sisters that is also a BRCA2 carrier.
Love this thread, I havent read all of the posts jet, I will continue to do that tomorrw. Even though I am not fully certain we will find the answers here, it sure is fun and interersting to wander what it might have been.....

Idun, be careful, Reading this thread may be hazardous to your health - you may sputter up your coffee or tea (or wine!).

I think my big sister did some voodoo on me - she never wanted me around anyway, too much competition for daddy's attention. Ha for her tho, I'm doing ok and she and I are great friends now because we're well over 50 and know what's important. My oncologist said I just had bad luck getting cancer and in a year it will be a bad memory - wish I could believe him. It might be all that tofu I ate and all that exercise I got. Being skinny, eating well, not drinking or taking drugs didn't do me a bit of good. My sister is chubby, loves pizza, doesn't exercise and she's healthy as a horse. I'm going her way for the second half of my life, maybe I'll live to 93 like my Grandma who had a breast removed somewhere in between having 14 kids.
-
As a kid I walked behind the truck that sprayed poison to kill mosquitoes pretending I was in the twilight zone, but I'm the only one who has cancer.
-
jlong, don't laugh! Tofu has estrogen and if you only started eating soy and tofu as an adult and not all your life, it CAN contribute! Go figure! The people who eat if from childhood are actually protected...
-
I think it was mimeographs.
Do you remember all those tests and worksheets through your school years with the blue ink in the years before copy machines? Do you remember how often the paper was actually still wet as the tests were passed out? You know you inhaled!
That's why so many teachers have breast cancer...the machines and chemicals were usually kept in the smoke filled "teacher's lounge"!
-
I really did LOVE that smell !
-
I know Iknow! Really- from what I have read on these posts- most women give, give, give- put themselves last, and worry about everything but themselves. We give ourselves away pieces at a time, and cancer is the way we fill those holes up again....????!!!!! Tami (That's my story and I'm stickin to it!)
-
Barbe are you ok? Tami
-
It can't be Bazooka bubble gum as we weren't 'allowed' to have bubble gum (never could figure that one out). But I did have a friend with some (p.c........previously chewed) which I happily took. OMG.........maybe it's USED Bazooka gum that caused my b.c.
-
Naw Sharon51 - can't be that because I never shared it but I do remember friends that did - never could understand how people could share spit. I can't even eat off of anything anyone has taken a bite out of, even my kids (who knows what they were putting in their mouths!).
Speaking of kids, I bet I got b.c. from blowing up balloons for them. Blowing so hard must have popped some of my cells causing them to mutate. Drat those kids...
-
DH and I share spit...........
But we've never shared gum.........or tooth brushes...........
-
Aha! That's why I'm single LOL
-
Maybe the old slinky was made of lead
-
Maybe this is what happened to some of us.
-
French kissing must be how I got BC, mom said it would make you pregnant but NO it really gives you BC, that's what I get for sharing spit behind the gym.
-
Does too much time spent on the computer cause b.c?
Edit to add, I have an embarrassingly huge number of posts.
-
Tab! You drank TAB soda? What next, you'll eat at Taco Bell?
Enjoy this link to Tab soda information:

I'm blaming my bc on all those darn packs of candy cigarettes I puffed and chewed on when I was four. Boy those were good! Nothing better than riding in Mom's Mustang with the windows down. Mom with her cigarette hanging out her window and me (not buckled of course) hanging out the other "front" window with my cigarette. Great now I'm Jones'ing for candy cigarettes and those little wax bottles of soda you could chew and drink the liquid out of the center.
-
OMG...i just now saw this thread...you gals are so funny! ok...for me...let's see...yeah i chewed those wax red lips at Halloween...but more than that...my BC was probably from re-chewing my Bazooka gum that I had stuck to my bed headboard...it was a big old bed...all varnished! Chisel off that gum (with the varnish too?) and keep on chewin!
thanks for the laughs

oh gosh, I just love reading here...I know what it must be....when I was a kid, the day after 4th of July we would go outside to find the remnants of the firecrackers the adults had done. We would bend them in half and stick a lighted match in the middle..they would spin around and make popping sounds. Oh and waht a smell!!! Who knows what we were breathing in!!!
That pic of Barbie is awesome, btw.
-
They didn't even have seat belts when I was a child! I also loved those cigs. Yum!
-
Biting my toenails as a child is probably what gave me bc. Good thing I can't even reach my feet now so I guess that means no recurrence?
-
HHHHHHAAAAAAAHHHHHHHAAAAAAA
-
I know what it was!!!! My mother insisted I always have a "pixie cut" because my hair was so curly. Funny my sister never had to have one and I'm the one with BC. I guess that's why I have such issues with cutting my hair. Oh, by the way, Mom would always cut it herself!!!!
-
Synthetic stocking caps in winter that must have been it. Or sitting my the register hogging all the heat. Back then no one cleaned their ducts.
Or dipping my finger into dry presweetend koolaide and licking it off till my toungh was raw.
-
you sisters are soooooooooooooo funny!
-
Well I think we are onto something with the candy cigarettes and gummy soda bottles that were mentioned a page back or so. What possible good could come from "pretending to smoke" and "pretending to drink soda". What about the dog or cat food? My mother insists that as a toddler I kept snacking on the cat's food. Bad idea.
If none of those things did it then it was probably the plastic Swatch watches that we all HAD to have in every color of the rainbow.
