Dancing with the Stars

I don't think the object of the show is for the mirror ball trophy go to the 'best' dancer, or the most improved dancer over the season. It is as much a popularity contest as it is a dancing contest. That's why they have the call-in vote.
That's why so many of those Disney kids don't go too far into the competition, even tho they often dance well. Their fan base, pretty much young kids themselves, are not viewers or voters of DWTS. Who can forget the big surprise when Sabrina Bryan, a Disney star, who excelled on the dance floor, got voted off way before the semi-finals?
I think you have to be an excellent dancer to make it to the finals, but showmanship, charisma and an ability to please the crowd come into play as well when it comes winning overall.

professional--Mark or Maks
celebrity--Jack Wagner

I've been off the boards for a week so didn't get to post even had to watch the finals on DVR as we have houseguests, was so glad I was wrong loved Donald but was cheering for Katherine. Really looking forward to next season.
Professional - Derek
Celebrity - William, and of course it would have to be a latin dance
-
The latest I heard is that Peta and Max are an item!!!
-
I heard that too!
-
Hot couple! Think they go dancing on dates?
-
That would be fun to watch!
-
Hot, hot, hot!!!
-
Wow, Peta and Maks? Interesting...hmmmm.
-
Saw a photo of them together and she was smooching on him but she was holding a lit cigarette in her her hand yuk yuk yuk
-

-
I think it will be an interesting season!
-
Excellent! Starts Monday September 24th.
Would like to know who the all-star pros are not just the celebs.
-
The pros will be announced shortly. I am happy to see Marini, Castronieves, Smith, and Fatone. Joey and Emmitt are my all time favorite. They always make me smile. I can't wait for the season to begin!
-
Lots of my former faves - Helio, Giles, Emmet, Apollo, Drew who am I going to vote for yuk on the Bristol can't believe they brought her back. Looking forward to the new season.
-
Not sure why they brought Bristol back? I hope this season doesn't turn into one huge political controversy again. I hated what happened last time she was on. We shall see...
-
They are bringing Bristol back? Oh nooooo!! WHY?? I think that political ship has sailed...she will be off the first night! Let's see some real dancers!
-
Not sure why they are bringing her back considering all the negative comments she received last time she was there. I thought this was an "All-Star" cast? What were they thinking?
-
To me all-star cast meant mirrored ball winners! Hopefully she will go home the first week.
-
The "Dancing With The Stars: All-Stars" cast was announced Thursday after much speculation about who would be included. The star-studded lineup includes past contestants Kirstie Alley, Emmitt Smith, Bristol Palin, Pamela Anderson, Joey Fatone, Helio Castroneves, Melissa Rycroft, Shawn Johnson, Kelly Monaco, Drew Lachey, Apolo Anton Ohno and Gilles Marini.
The final contestant will be determined by fans, who can vote for Kyle Massey, Sabrina Bryan or Carson Kressley to round out the "Dancing With The Stars: All-Stars" cast.
-
I think she may have shot herself in the foot with her reality show, she's snotty and bratty and her little boy uttering foul or homophobic words (they were bleeped so you couldn't tell) oh and I think we can go on to ABC.com and vote for the last entrant I know there are three, Kyle Massey, Carson Kressley and I can't remember #3

Girls, last month when DH and I went to Vegas we caught the DWTS Vegas show. It was absolutely w.o.n.d.e.r.f.u.l.!!!!! Extremely entertaining, and everything I hoped it would be. Carson Kressley was the host of it, and he was 10 times funnier in the show than I've ever seen him on TV. Even my husband was laughing as hard as he could. They had a running storyline about Carson trying to hog the spotlight. Other celebrities were Joey Fatone, Sabrina, Kyle Massey, Tia Carrere. The professionals were Lacey Schwimmer, who was spectacular-so personable and professional (I totally love her now) and Dimitri Chaplan.
It was great, they had a troupe of Las Vegas dancers round out the cast and they showcased all the different dances that are done through the season, plus some video clips with Len and Toni explaining things. All the celebs were showcased in a number of dances. Sabrina was absolutely so good, she danced to a combo of "Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend" and "Material Girl" wearing the glamorous red dress and accompanied by five male dancers in tuxes. Then Carson came out and danced to Vogue, along with five male dancers...it was HYSTERICAL.
-
About this season's all-star cast: so looking forward to it!!!!
Yuck to Kirstie, and about the Bristol thing, she's a ratings getter, that's why they picked her. But I think now that her mom isn't so much in the spotlight, she won't be such a big draw and will be voted off quickly...at least I hope so.
All the others are great. It's tough to pick a favorite between Carson and Sabrina (Kyle, nah) but Sabrina will get my vote since she really is a terrific dancer.
-
I really enjoy Carson, he truly is funny.
-
I wonder who the 13th celeb will be?
-
-
That all-star cast looks SOOOOOO good! Lots of great partnerships! Whenever I remember, I go to the website & vote for Sabrina to be the last contestant. I hope Bristol and Kirstey are the first ones to go.
-
I hope Bristol is first off, and I hope Carson gets the last spot, he is so crazy! Marking September 24th on the calendar.
-
Ruth, I agree on all three counts.
-
Yay! I'm happy with the news that Sabrina Bryan was picked to be on the All-Star season. Her partner is Louis Van Amstel and kinda happy with that, too. He seems to get some crummy partners. He'll do well with Sabrina.
I love Carson, and he was even funnier at the Las Vegas DWTS show I saw this summer than he is on TV. Even my husband was laughing as hard as he could at some of Carson's antics, which surprised me (not to offend anyone at all) because my husband isn't always keen about gay guys and their humor. But he couldn't help himself, the show was that entertaining. He "Vogue-d" with 5 male dancers and body surfed across them as they rolled like logs on the floor.....what a visual (Carson, not my husband, lol) ! Loved it.
Still, Sabrina was also in the Vegas show, and she really stepped up to the plate and danced so well, very entertaining.
This is going to be such a great season; so looking forward to it.
