I use NutriBiotic Rice Protein Powder. It is vegan and comes in plain, vanilla, and chocolate, all with natural non-soy flavoring and no added sugar. As for calcium, dark green veggies (broccoli included) have a boatload of calcium that is much easier for your body to absorb than that in dairy.

Tricia, our stats on path report are almost identical - but mine was IDC.  Oncologist told me plain soy capsules were OK - DO NOT BUY WITH BLACK COHOSH - after I had been taking them for a bit.  To be honest, they never worked on my hot flashes anyway.

Many here are much more versed than I - I take calcium with Vitamin D, a GOOD vitamin and just live normally otherwise. JMHO but I think we can make ourselves crazy with all the back and forth on food and what is good and what isn't.  I do try to eat fresh or frozen veg and fruits.  I limit lots of things - because of my age and the stuff that just comes with that.

I think to look at the breast development of girls ages 10-14 tells us pretty good what hormones in our food supply is doing.  That scares me!!!   I don't eat as much meat as I once did.

    Hi Tricia,

I was diagnosed with DCIS and had a mastectomy in 2003.  Like you I have problems with migraine and sinus.  I found that they got better when I stopped drinking red wine after my diagnosis.  I haven't eaten dairy products or wheat in years but I still have a stuffy nose a lot of the time and occasionally get migraines.  I have identified two triggers that I am absolutely certain about, mushrooms and some nuts.  I have had bad attacks after eating raw cashews, almonds and walnuts.  Apparently nuts can get a mold on them and of course mushrooms are a fungus as well.  I have to say that it didn't happen every time I ate nuts only sometimes.  I expect this happened when the nuts had the mold on them.  You can't tell by looking at it.  We have to remember too that a lot of pre-packaged foods contain nuts.  I don't eat any packaged food whatever.  Recently, I got eczema for the very first time.  I started research on the subject and found a link, candida in the gut.  Candida is a natural fungus that grows in our guts and is important to keep it balanced.  An imbalance causes health problems such as migraine, skin conditions like psoriasis and eczema and lately I have read that everyone with cancer has a candida imbalance.  Foods to avoid include soy, mushrooms and definitely sugar.  As you know sugar feeds cancer and is definitely off the list.  So what does this say??  I need someone to enlighten me.  In the meantime I will keep searching for an answer.

Soya is a phytoestrogen.  I used to eat it but lately I have stopped because there is some concern, not conclusive proof, that phytoestrogens may mimic estrogen and accumulate in our bodies.  I think that is is better to be safe.  I know that one is advised to stay away from all the soya dairy and cream substitutes etc etc

I lost my mother to this illness in December.&nbspTake best, best care.  Please let me know if you find anything.

    Love and blessings.

    Hi Tricia,

I forgot to mention organic oats for breakfast.  It is a wonder food.  The list of health benefits are numerous, try googling oats.  Apparently the fibre is brilliant because it helps draw the toxins with it as it passes through.

I cook it with water or fruit juice such as apple in order to avoid the dairy.  It tastes great.  You can add some nutmeg or cinnamon.  Try it!!

I'm super ER/PR+ (100% both), and was told by my onc and nutritionist NO SOY. It's ok in soy sauce, but otherwise, no soy milk, tofu, etc. Rice milk is fine.

I also get organic milk (from Trader Joe's) in order to avoid the growth hormones.
