Hello everyone!
Our local meeting has been set for Thursday, July 17th at 6:00 at C.J.'s in Bloomington. If you are out of area and would like to join us, please PM me for more details. I am looking forward to meeting mimi, readheaded and lakegirl but anyone is welcome to join us!
Just finished two busy weeks with my oldest and my youngest grandsons.
Whew! I now understand why we have our children when we are young! I loved the time with them but it is nice to have a couple weeks off before I take the last one for his week!Rita

MiMi-sending you warm thoughts for a good result on your biopsy. I'd do the same as you , Any little bump scar3es the beejuice out of me. I just checked in today and had a lot of catching up to do since my last posting. Weeds--I still have an abundant share at my own house, thank you very much. !!!! Should be pulling them or mowing the grass, yet here I sit on the computer....
Looking forward to seeing you three and I sure wish some of the rest of you gals would jump in the car and join us....the cornfields make for a nice drive.!

The greatest force in the human body is the natural drive of the body to heal itself--but that force
is not independent of the belief system. Everything begins with belief. What we believe is the most powerful option of all.

Pretty sure this is a re-run, but I'm QUITE fond of Elizabeth Kuebler-Ross who also has appeared for a very long time in my signature line.
Learn to get in touch with silence within yourself and know that everything in this life has
a purpose. There are no mistakes and no coincidences; all events are blessings given to us to learn from.
Elisabeth Kuebler-Ross -
For, after all, put it as we may to ourselves, we are all of us from birth
to death guests at a table which we did not spread. The sun, the earth,
love, friends, our very breath are parts of the banquet. . . . Shall we think
of the day as a chance to come nearer to our host, and to find out something of
him who has fed us so long?
Rebecca Harding Davis -
It's sure been quiet on there the last few days. I hope everyone has been out enjoying the weekend!
-
Just a quick hello. Been busy. Actually been interviewing! Getting real close. Keep coming in as 2nd choice but right now I have 3 maybes!
-
Good luck Lago. I can't imagine you not being first choice!
-
The truth is that our finest moments are most likely
to occur when we are feeling deeply uncomfortable, unhappy,
or unfulfilled. For it is only in such moments, propelled
by our discomfort, that we are likely to step out of our ruts
and start searching for different ways or truer answers.
M. Scott Peck -
Crossing fingers Lago. It's your time! I hope something works out for you.Been busy....it finally cooled off so it's been good gardening weather. I have been slaving in the garden and working on a bathroom makeover project. The fun never ends.
I head back to the oncologist on Friday. I finally graduated to appointments every 6 months instead of 3 months. I am celebrating that! Ha! It's nice not to live at the doctors office anymore!
Hope all of you are doing well and enjoying summer. Extra hugs and prayers to all of those going through active treatment now!
Hang in there!!

Hi all...just catching up!!! We spent a week at the lake!!! It was much needed time off from BC and work. The girls learned to water ski on the ski trainer and I got some much needed sunshine therapy!!!
The girls and I then took time coming home and had an impromptu girls trip to St. Louis. They got a little time in the hotel pool and some spoiling at the American Girl store. They are in bible school this week so it has been hectic with getting them there etc.
Oh, LAST CHEMO ON FRIDAY!!! Can you tell, I'm just a little excited!!! My sister is coming in from Austin, TX to go with me!!! I couldn't have done all his without her. She deserves to see the end too.
-
Yay Lakegirl! Last one in a few days. Almost done!
-
You may not control all of the events that happen to you but you can decide not to
be reduced by them.
Maya Angelou -
Lakegirl -- fantastic. The end can seen so far away but then it is right next door. Yay for you in a short while. You will have done what looked so daunting and difficult. You can look back and be proud and amazed with yourself all at once. A really good feeling and well-earned.
Blessings
Jackie

Was talking with someone about this yesterday --- how easy to get caught up in what is wrong and neglect the more positive side.

Thought I'd put out a question to those dealing with cancer in Illinois. I'm on the stage IV forum here, but my brother has a friend with liver cancer & no insurance living in south suburbs of Chicago Illinois.
Does anyone know what hospitals in Chicago are non-profit & take Medicare or Medi-cal? I would love to be able to get some help for my brother's friend. Thanks for any info you know about.
Terri

IBCmets--sorry I am too far down state to help with that one. Jackie- I love your quote about counting up your blessings.....instead of your troubles.... just really touches my heart. Thank you,
-
Hi ibcmets--sorry to hear about your brother's friend. The primary "public" hospital in Chicago that routinely accepts medicaid patients is:
Hope this helps and warm wishes to all

teachermom4 is correct about Stroger if he lives in Cook County. Outside of Cook County, it will depend on resources there.

Ladies: Thank you so much for your help.

Gentleness means recognizing that the world around us is fragile, especially
other people. It is recognizing our own capacity to do harm and choosing
to be tender, soft-spoken, soft-hearted, and careful. When we are gentle
we touch the world in ways that protect and preserve it. Being gentle
doesn't mean being weak; gentleness can be firm, even powerful. To behave
in a gentle manner requires that we stay centered in our own values and
strength -- that we are active rather than reactive. Coming from this center,
a gentle word or touch can channel our energy into healing or making peace.

You can put this in the books, last chemo is DONE!!!
Now, we grow hair!!!!
Fortunately, I didn't loose it all!! MO and his RN's are very surprised and just want to touch it when I go in!!!
I feel like that baby with the crazy hair that stands on end. Cute on a baby, not so much on an almost 44 year old!!! LOL!!!
Thanks to Ritajean and Redheaded1...we had a good time talking and laughing !!! I can't wait to do it again when Mimi will be able to join us!
-
Lakegirl...Well I think that's a really cute picture! Your smile says it all! You are DONE with that nasty chemo and are on to bigger and better things. I loved meeting you the other night and hope we can do it again! You have an amazng attitude and those laughs were good for all of us! Hugs to you as you move on toward a new "normal" in your life.

Adversity, if for no other reason, is of benefit, since it is sure to bring
a season of sober reflection. People see clearer at such times.
Storms purify the atmosphere. -
Onward and upward Lakegirl. So glad to hear you had a good get-together with Rita. The get-togethers seem to bring out all that is good in the world of this disease that none of us chose. Just shows how difficult it is to keep a really good person down. Sure would have liked to make it but I'm three hours away from Rita. Sure thought about it though.
Blessings,
Jackie
