Tim - so sorry to read of your news:( I am saying extra prayers for you and hope you get through all that is ahead OK. We are hear to cheer you on and be a shoulder to cry on if/when you need it. Saying a cheer for you now:) I am glad you at least have found out what is going on so you can move forward and fix this ASAP!
Connie I sent you a PM about my endo. He's in Geneva. I have the same problem and have severe osteopenia courtesy of BC and chemo.
Wishing all of you a warm week! It's chilly out there but at least it is not -18 like two weeks ago!!! Have a great week all!!!
-
Well, I pushed this morning and I got results! Take heed one and all! Sloan called me back and I'm seeing Dr. Yukio Sonoda tomorrow at 12:30. I had to cancel my U of C app, can't be at two places at once. She promised I'd be operated on by Feb 4 the latest. Of course I'll need tests and they have yet to see my slides. If nothing else I'm getting another opinion and a trip to New York!
All prayers are sincerely appreciated!
-
PRAYING for you:) And sending warm hugs!!!!
-
Tim-great pushing!!! Warm hugs and prayers to you!!
You asked what happened to my cancerous node. I had another ultra sound at La Grange after I left Northwestern. La Grange is where I originally had a diagnostic mammogram and ultrasound. The radiologist said, "Yep, it's still there. Right where our report said it was." So I had a 2nd surgery at La Grange Hospital and my new surgeon removed it. Then I had chemo and radiation. Yes, even the best doctors make mistakes but when it's your life that's at state, you need to make a lot of noise.
-
That is amazing. So why didn't Sloan do anything about the rest of my nodes? Why don't they go back in? It's hard to understand their thinking. Sure hope I'm doing the right thing!
Bottom line, it's our lives and no one cares about us the way we do! So glad you got good care. You never know who is good until you really need them and then it's sometimes too late!
-
No I haven't fallen off the face of the earth, just busy doing I don't know what...for months. Missed you all and have much to try to catch up with. I continue to send love and prayers to you all. Going to see vinnie in Baltimore on friday for 3-D tatts. ♡♡♡
-
Tim-since you'll be at Sloan tomorrow, why don't you ask them about the nodes. I know everyone's cancer is different but if you are worried, I would ask them. My doctors at La Grange gave me a choice to have another surgery or treat it with chemo. I told them to get the damn thing out of me!!.
Good luck tomorrow. I'll be thinking of you. Please, let us know what happens.
Very warm hug!
-
I had many people giving me their 2 cents and begging me to go to NW but stuck with the team I met at Christ and am SSSOOO glad I did. Everyone was awesome with excellent follow up care & bedside manner.
Just cleared for hopefully my last surgery! For some reason I'm much more aprehensive of the full hysto than anything I've done thus far. And I've been asking for this for several years!
-
Do note that the new protocol is if node involvement in sentinel they tend to radiate them rather than remove unless there is gross disease. At least that's my understanding. Results the same but with less lymphedema.
-
I did ask about the nodes when I went for the initial consult and she told me in no uncertain terms that "we don't go back in for them".
There was only one micromet in one node. The other 4 sentinal nodes were clean and I guess they are assuming the others were clean too.
I don't blame you a bit for saying "get it out!" That's exactly how I feel right now. I WANT to be gutted!
Is your arm ok?
-
I can't wait for a hysterectomy! lol They can do it laproscopically now, although it kind of scares me as I don't see how they can see around in there for tumors.
-
That's a new one! I got no radiation at all. She said that would be "overkill". Drs. work in mysterious ways!
btw, at the time I did call Anderson and they said that they would radiate me.
-
Hugs to you Timbuktu - so sorry you are going through this!
-
Tim... a number of early posters are back. That voice keeps calling in some weird way and we are all hanging with you as we have all been there.
I think we may live close to each other. I am in Northbrook. HUGS from me!

Oh Timbuktu...I am so sorry to hear about this new diagnosis. I can't give you any hospital or dr. advice since I'm a bit south from you, but I can tell you to follow your gut. It usually never fails we women. Hugs to you as you once again deal with all the decision making and treatment preparations. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Hugs!
-
I probably won't have access to a computer for awhile. I was just telling my husband how there is something really special and different about the people on here.
It feels like coming "home". We all KNOW. Be well everyone!

Timbuktu No smart phone? Keep us updated when/if you can

Tim good luck (((HUGS)))

So sorry about the marks.....I was not sure about the site I was using. Sometimes it is ok and other times the marks come. My apologies for it.

Brought this back without the weird marks:
I am in competition with no one. I run my own race. I have no desire to play the game of being better than anyone, in any way, shape or form. I just aim to improve to be better than I was before . That's me and I am free.

Hi ladies! Sorry I have not been around much. My mom got sick right after Thanksgiving, and went downhill from there. She passed away in her sleep on 1/1 and I have been in Michigan taking care of things up until last week.
Tim: I am sorry to hear about your latest DX, but it sounds like you're in good hands at Sloan. I hope things went well today and will keep you in my prayers.
I hope are all are doing well! I miss you gals! XOXO
-
Karen I am so sorry to hear about your mother. Mothers are so very special. Hope you are holding up ok and not too exhausted. Much love and many prayers of healing to you and yours as you learn to make the adjustment to this loss.
Blessings

Oh Karen, I am so sorry to hear about your Mom. Hugs! It is always so hard to lose a parent but her spirit will always be with you.
Thinking about you Timbuktu.
Well Jackie, it sounds like you got another dose of winter and that you northern gals haven't had much of a break from winter for weeks. The lady who comes once a day to feed the stray cat sent me a picture of the cat eating on the snowy porch. I really can't say that I miss that.
Spunky and Connie....so good to see a post from you! We've missed you! :-)
-
Karen I'm truly sorry about u'r mom, it's such a sad time--u'r in my prayers.
Tim u are also in my prayers.

Back to our rather frigid temps here. Glad the snow was light and the roads were fine. Though early, I'm thinking Spring thoughts already. Just bet though we have plenty to weather as yet. I know up North is not any better at all. In fact, likely not as good. I think you all have more snow. February can have some surprising warmth here but it is hard to think of it coming when it is so cold
Thinking of all of you in the North and hoping you are able to come and go without too many discomforts.
Blessings,
Jackie
-
My condolences Karen and prayers for your mom, you and the whole family.
I was in your hood on Monday dropping off the kid at Bradley. We are now empty nested again.
Tim- I am thinking of you. And you have pushed me into telling my story, very short version. Ladies you may or may not have noticed that I snuck stage 4 into my sig. What everyone thought was necrosis in my prophylactic left breast turned out to be cancer. So I had a diep for that breast and now have one butt and one tummy boob. (c: I also have bone mets. Please everyone be aware that necrosis is not always just necrosis, check it out, demand it.
Hugs

Adey -- I'm speechless, but like the warm and wonderful soul you are, you are sharing a vital part of cancer treatment. Be complacent about nothing. Prayers to the Universe for sending you only positive directions for this journey.
Blessings,
Jackie
